Aaaaaand hopefully Smitty has enough LUCK to get them across a crumbling bridge. Can his etheric threads hold up giant concrete blocks? I guess we'll find out! All the giant concrete blocks fall precisely to form the giant words: "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK" all the way across the river.

I wonder how Yscoygretyfish look in the Ether now. I keep thinking about this, too. There's so much setup for focusing on what everyone looks like in the Ether and how it reflects their true selves. I'm still kind of hoping for a big Ysengrin/Coyote/Reynard/Annie/Kat/Zimmy showdown in the Ether. gosh golly YES. I can just picture how, in the final climax, everyone rushes towards each other and freezes in place. Several moments where we see them all just quietly standing around....and then cut to the ethereal overlay, where all the fire and/or wood and/or metal is flying everywhere.

Re-reading this page made me just realize that when Shadow2 is " cut from the floor" it's not some kind of magical metaphorical thing - he's always had a body, and Coyote's Tooth just detached from the floor, forcing it to grow into a more 3-dimensional shape.

What if the hand only reaches and destroy the Annan Waters gorge? Like, leveLing the territoryy, or even ,cartoon-likely, claws at the Court and pulls it like a blanket, closing the Divide? That will be THE show of strength, and will tell the humans How Weak they are, presumingly having disposed of "Whatever" was defending the Annan. In the best scenario, everybody (human or not) will know it is free season. I don't think he can do this. Coyote used the power of his Tooth to create the Annan Waters, and he gave that to Annie. I doubt Ysengrin could take the Tooth away without fetching it from the Court. Huh? But Coyote never said he used- oh, I see what you mean. He did say, " it could cut the very earth" when giving the Tooth to Annie, and we just now saw him give Ysengrin his "strength" by tearing off a part off his body. Hmmmm. It's a clever interpretation, but I just like jda's theory too much to dismiss it! I might point out that he specifically said he used his paw when making the Divide, or that he seemed to make it clear that that one tooth was far from unique (literally any stone could become an exact duplicate in his mouth, after all). So the Coyote Tooth could just be a magic artifact that he created out of his tooth, which is different from an actual power he ritually transfers to another person! Therefore, Ysenoyote can totally still close the gorge & set off all the interesting consequences that would arise from that. I realize that all my "evidence" is just claims made by Coyote himself, so not exactly very reliable, but I can hope!

The court will use the "lake water," the tooth, the goose feather, and any other Coyote body part gifts to resurrect him, and instead of a war between Ysengrin and the court, we'll have battle of the dog-gods. OR..... They could find a way to give those powers to rey.... OR BETTER YET...Subject Zeta...after all, they (or at least the Seraphs) have shown themselves capable of weaponizing her before! It's way too long since we had a Zimmy&Gamma story, honestly.

The Omega Device Coyote Tooth Kat MechaGoddess form Diego's arrow ... Is there a Official list of Chekhov's guns loaded and ready? There's Kat's "magic" wand (kinda overlaps w/ "MechaGoddess form) & computer, not to mention the fanatical shadows, fanatical robot cult, and the totally mysterious Tic-tocs. Although I guess the "robot cult" gun has already been fired once.

Third of all, Coyote's body is destroyed. Pretty much the entire lower half of his torso has been ripped away. His "ribs" are showing. This was a violent death! And finally, I wouldn't blame anyone for disagreeing with me, but I don't think Coyote is faking it. I think he has kicked the bucket. (Or Ysengrin has kicked his bucket for him.) In which case, this chapter is one of the most significant in the comic, with the death of one of its most vital characters. After the benign comedy of Katurday, I kind of suspected we would get a mind-blowing game-changing chapter, and here it is. (I might be mistaken, but I think the only previous significant characters to get killed off were ghosts.) I too have to say that I am growing increasingly skeptical of the "Coyote as ultimate mastermind who can never be harmed" theory. I almost believed it during that whole trip through Ysengrin's memories, tried very hard to believe it as he was flailing in helpless terror under newly-buff Ysengrin, tried VERY VERY hard to believe it as he was getting his throat ripped out, and now...well. It would be a a really great twist, but that's precisely because I don't think it's going to happen.

In retrospect, I expected this. By which I mean, I didn't expect it at all, but it makes perfect sense. ^ This is me every single time there's a "big reveal" page in GC.

Dear GOD how could my favorite thread go quiet for so LONG?!?!?! Has everyone forgotten it exists or something? Anyway, bringing this in from the most recent page thread(1947): I think not only does this make sense, but it serves as a great starting point for some wildspec! Remember, the Court has yet another perspective of those events: they found out Coyote was trying to give Renard his powers, so they got Surma to lure him into the Court with hints of romance. This technically worked, but at the unforeseen cost of Renard gaining Coyote's body possession powers, and then using those powers to kill two of their operatives.Sure is funny how that worked: they got some information about Coyote from a mysterious source, prompting them to a series of actions which led Renard getting more power and fighting with the Court. Later on, we find out that not only did Coyote know Renard had been tricked, he was also the one who urged Renard to kill Danny. Could he also have been behind the Court suddenly finding out about Renard's new potential source of power, thus setting up their whole plan? I don't think Renard getting permanently imprisoned there was part of Coyote's game, though, which is why he kept trying to steal him back, but then he found out that it was actually Annie keeping him there, prompting him to draw her closer and closer to the Forest, and also manipulate the relationship between her and Ysengrin. It's agree that it's pretty damn clear he has some kind of master plan going on here, and I'm just going to say that it's working towards Renard, Ysengrin, and Antimony all destroying the Court together. Of course, we'll have to wait and see what Ysengrin does with this new strength before my theory can have any real evidence.

Coyote is a god. Presumably, he can jump in and out of memory-time just as well as he might be able to jump through real time... so maybe this is an indication that he's been trying to calm Y down? I assume Coyote is not in the past, but just inside one of those memories he took from Ysengrin. So, no effect on the real world at all.Yeah, I think it's similar to when he inserted himself into Annie's dream. Only now, he's not even inside Ysengrin's actual mind, so there aren't any real people in there to notice him like Annie did.

That might be one of Ysengrin's most impressive moments, if that was the case - that all Jeanne managed to do was cut off his ear, but he got away without injury beyond that. They needed a full raid party and a simultaneous side quest to beat that boss. It's pretty impressive if he did manage to survive her with just minor injuries Surviving with minor injuries: it's happened before. That said, I still like the old theory where he lost it to one of Coyote's bindings.

What's additionally unsettling about this scene is that Kat had been revolted by Diego and the other Founders' use of the arrow, their treatment of Jeanne and her lover that the arrow was part of, etc. - to the point of thoroughly disliking Diego (and even feeling less than happy about the Court now that she knew the dark secret of its founders). She'd even been reluctant for a time to work on the robot project because of Diego's own role in creating the Court robots. And now, she's ready to casually use that instrument, as if so excited about the scientific potential that she's forgotten her initial opposition to everything the arrow was part of. Ah, but the Founders were sacrificing others to protect themselves, while Kat is merely putting others at very slight risks to further the cause of science. Obviously, these are two totally different things with a completely unbreakable distinguishing line between them.

Aw man. This is just like that other scene when they decide to keep the arrow: a pretty justified decision on their part, but our trope-sense is practically SCREAMING at us that this will go horribly, horribly, wrong. Maybe the arrow turns out to be sentient and secretly takes control of the computer?

Oh. Huh. Here's my train of thought when I first saw this page: "But I thought that teleportation thing only worked because Anja incorporated magic into her computer!" "Well, I guess actually she said it was mostly technology, with just enough magic to make it work, so Kat must have just found a way to make it work without magic." "Wait, or did she? I mean, Kat's tech isn't entirely separate from the ether now, ever since that Jeanne caper...uh oh."
And now I'm just stuck worrying about where the hell the line between normal technology and etheric technology even is in Kat's world. Great.

WOAH. Okay, I'm aware that there are some computers which are just inherently evil, but this one seems pretty unassuming to me. I mean, it has a bunch of green lights, some big cables, a few unnecessary monitors, and that's all. To me, that seems like the bare minimum to make it look advanced (like the rest of Kat's machines) without necessarily being evil. I'm withholding judgement until we find out what the heck it's for.

Oh, I get it it now - now that Jeanne's passed on, Kat and/or the robots have probably done something to the shrine to signify that. I'm not actually sure what that ceremonial gesture would be, but c'mon, all the robots practically worshiped Jeanne. It's gotta be something big.
It also occurs to wonder how that whole adventure fitted into young Robot's preaching. Is he just going to give "the Angel" ALL the credit for defeating jeanne? Or will an act of such cultural significance to the Robots mean that Annie can be part of his pantheon too?

"The smallest things carry the greatest weight", in an adult, is not benign. It means power and control through its very delicacy. It means everyone is holding their breath and walking on eggshells around you. It means you can be emotionally indolent and withholding and yet make everyone anticipate your slightest whim. It means that when people do what they think you want them to do, retaining the right to choose on the spot whether to award approval or pretend you didn't want it after all. It means "my feelings count more than yours". It's like those obnoxious people who speak in tones so low you are forced to tune everything else out and lean in to focus on them and only them, and then they blame you if you don't understand. The young Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables is "highly oversensitive", but matured out of it. Tony is "morbidly fragile" and didn't. I'm on the spectrum. I don't act like Tony. My father was on the spectrum, my husband is on the spectrum, my best friend is on the spectrum. No, adult autistics do not normally act like sociopaths. Wow. I mean....wow. That's some freakin' heavy stuff. Props to you, man. I'm not quite sure how it followed from my post, which said nothing about Tony's behavior being benign or autistic, but those are some damn impressive truth bombs you're laying down there.

What is it with you guys and Shadow's pants/lack thereof? I think the comments will move on to other things once the core of this chapter gets underway (assuming that this is the set-up and whatever Annie, Kat, and Reynardine will be doing together after the grown-ups leave). Your naive trust in this forum's ability to manage their priorities is adorable. Personally, I will be mentioning Shadow's camouflaged/non-existent pants in every page of this chapter that he appears in, and probably several which he doesn't appear in.

Kat and Antimony have have decided to get revenge on Anthony by throwing him a stealth party. When he and Arthur return from the back room it will be to find that everyone that he has the most tangential relationship to has been invited to stop by for tea and small-talk. Afterwards Anthony will be on his best behaviour, for fear that if he angers them again they will trick him into attending another pleasant social gathering. I can only imagine his horror when Eglamore shows up and makes cheerful, friendly small talk to him.
