It's like a piñata! Come play, Annie!Side note, do you guys think these are only Ysengrin's memories falling out like candy? Or are there others from folks he's manipulated over the years. Maybe we'll get some memories related to the foundation/early days of Gunnerkrigg Court.

If Annie and Smitface are still around, I'm not gonna toss them the idiot ball. I'm going to put on a ball for idiots, just for them. Big ol' dance for dummies being dumb. Get Planning!

As has already been brought up last time, if you can't run to safety, dumb to run away from a wolf, dog, lion, etc that might attack you. That sets off their instinct about chasing and killing prey. Instead you project confidence as you slowly back off facing them and perhaps avoid eye contact to not seem like challenging them. That sends signal that you are fellow wolf who does not want to fight for dominance.

I still think the plan of "get away, and use a beacon to summon the Bip-mobile" is a valid one, especially while the danger is busy with its primary target. Main assumption here being that Annie and/or Smit have beacons to summon a protector. While the forest folk are animals, we shouldn't think of them as merely animals (like the Court tends to). There's a lot of animal posturing, but they are sentient beings, and more than "mere" animals. If Ys decides to put Annie in his sights, sticking with normal animal psychology is not sufficient to be relied upon.

Yeah, this page seals it for me that I think this is exactly what Coyote was planning.

Imagine all the people who bought Coyote plushies and now rip them open to discover shiny marbles inside.
Ironically, one of the marbles contains the memory of Coyote saying to Ysengrin: "If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can imagine"

Here. We. GO! Memorypalooza coming in!
Y seems to be getting a stronger body though, he's almost back to full wolf, the wood's letting go it seems... I don't know how his mind is going to handle it, though

Yeah, this page seals it for me that I think this is exactly what Coyote was planning. Yeah no, this is 100% acting and Coyote basically sealing the "This wasn't my fault!!" in the eyes of Annie and Smitty. Essentially, he's going to throw all the blame onto Ysengrin for what's about to transpire. And I really hate him for it. I wanted a friend, not a weapon.

"Ysengrin! Naughty boy! In your bed!"
Gonna echo the sentiment that it's a little too convenient that the memories are spilling out and seemingly nothing else. Definitely deliberate on Coyote's part.

There are variants. Maybe he always returns those in an awkward moment. Maybe not. Maybe 'Grin knew what he does and purposefully dug toward his own. Imagine all the people who bought Coyote plushies and now rip them open to discover shiny marbles inside. Good one. Ironically, one of the marbles contains the memory of Coyote saying to Ysengrin: "If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can imagine" I won't rule it out. Despite the obvious, smell of JUST AS PLANNED is strangely strong on this page. Because Coyote was prattling, but didn't offer to return those. If 'Grin didn't attack, it did indeed seem over - yet something was obviously set up. Especially because those are not necessarily all from 'Grin. So many threads this may add to the great yarn ball.

I notice that Smitty is nowhere to be seen on this page. Did he get the F out of dodge?

I think it's possible that Ysengrin hasn't gone mad at all, but figured out at some point that Coyote had taken his memories and was only biding his time until he could take them back.
Under that theory, it's also possible that Coyote can't be killed and Ysengrin knows that. His only target is the memories.

Wait, wait, hold up. Can only the memories and thoughts of HUMAN's make Coyote stronger? What if now all of a sudden, because of Y getting back all the memories of him asking for Coyote's strength, combined with Annie and LuckBoy witnessing the power of Coyote's original strength (strong enough to kill himself), Coyote gets all his strength BACK multiplied tenfold, by the power of thought and the ether?
Or should I put this in Wild Speculation...?

Ysengrin: *zip* Annie: "What... what are you doing?..." Ysengrin: *sound of long piss* Smitty: "Oh my! Right in the open wound... and the limp mouth... Not cool, Ysengrin." Ysengrin: *howl*
If Y gets back all his memories, we'll finally have a clue if Coyote's actions were for everyone's good or for the lolz. It is hard to believe Coyote's completely gone, and this isn't part of a plan, but it wouldn'y be the first unexpected twist from Tom. Either way, a Wolf god has got to be a wolf.

Oh ok, so he didn't manage to eat all of him yet. Sitrep normal.
You know, I really wonder what the outcome of that will be. Looks like general consensus is Coyote wants to sic crazed Ys on the Court and that's all according to his plan. But chapter title + Coyote eating memories of when Ys went into uncontrolled rage (which, in itself, he only remembered fuzzily afterwards before Coyote gobbled it up anyway), but did not feel so good with himself afterwards, makes it likely (to me) that he's going to be hit with a MAJOR downer instead of flying into rage after getting his memories back.
TBH depressed Ysengring would be much more interesting than one mad with anger.

Coyote's really only skin and bones. That's what he gets from a diet consisting solely of stolen memories.

What if there are a bunch of memories from Annie and Smitty themselves? Or even from Surma... What if there are Renard's memories? Maybe Renard like Ysengrin accepted Coyote's power only after mind manipulation from Coyote?

Last words were "it's my responsibility". - Avalanche happened anyway. More people would've survived if said ranger had ran away to warn everyone.

So... I feel like we can make a couple assumptions here. -Ysengrin knew Coyote was stealing his memories -He's been biding his time until he can get them back -He's fairly pissed that Coyote manipulated him so much over the years
Speculation time! Was Ysengrin's mental instability due to Coyote stealing his memories? I wonder if Ysengrin's desperation for his marbles was just so he wouldn't lose his mind again. After all, he seemed pretty appalled that he attacked Annie, which he outright states is something he would never do in his right mind.
Now that he has his memories and full sanity back, will he be disgusted with himself for attacking Coyote in such a violent manner, even if he had a purpose?
Ysengrin hates Coyote at times, but his speech about his "love being deeper than his hate" points toward Ysengrin not wanting to outright kill Coyote. He talked with Annie (relatively) recently, and was likely aware that Coyote messes with his head. But even knowing that fact, Ysengrin stated that he loved Coyote.
So I think this attack ended up more violent than 'grin intended due to his existing instability, desperation for his memories, anger at Coyote, and the sudden rush of strength. Granted, I doubt Coyote is actually dead, but will ham it up for the sake of playing victim to further mess with others.
