I feel like I'm kind of in a minority of people who take usernames, sigs and status text into account.. What if someone were to just flip their avatar horizontally every other month or so? Or gradually change it over time, and see if anybody notices? "One month later..." I did that once, on another forum. People noticed. Also, sans party hat, my avatar is my real face. A bit contrasted, though, so you still might not recognize me on the streets.

Wew, this thread is long. I wanted to sum up my feelings, but freeformline did so perfectly 11 hours ago.
Oh, and I think it is a good idea to over-represent otherwise under-represented minorities, both for the benefit of the minority (because representation has obvious psychological and practical advantages), and for the benefit of the majority (because a big part of becoming a mature, well-rounded adult is realizing that not everyone is like you (or fits inside neat little boxes) and that's okay). You need over-representation instead of proportionate representation because 1) most of our media is likely to forget about minorities anyway, because people are lazy or something 2) proportionate representation might actually mean that there is no (visible) representation, because not all stories can be told in a certain space.
Anyway, I'll shut up now, because I'm getting tired and rambly.

I enjoyed zimmyzims' gradual loss of innocence in this thread way more than I should have.

I think we all knew that this was roughly what he was going to say. But still, good to hear him say it.
Also: "Reynardine! You dropped all my things! All of them!"

Let's just hope Tom isn't going to take a page out of George R. R. Martin's books... In GC, the "Red Wedding" would probably be quite different, though.

By the by, this thread can lose the question mark in its title, what with the searchable database of comics actually existing and everything.

so far with the possible tag classification I had the following possible format: AdminBot C A secretarial robot who sits at the Admin desk at RobotHQ AlchemyChart P An alchemical chart Aly C Alistair Kershaw; went to the Forest AlyShirt P A shirt belonging to Aly, which apparently Kat has stolen Angel I What Robot refers to Kat as, as he believes she is some sort of semi-religious figure AnimalCells S the secret Court large animal holding cells
Where: - C Character/character type
- P Prop/Item
- S Setting
- I Idea/symbol/concept eg antimonysymbol, angel
- A Activity/emotion eg Archery, Etherics
- Y Special Page type eg bonus, cover, treatise
I think three characters are better than one here, because 'cha', 'ite', 'loc', 'sym', 'act', 'spe' are easier to remember than just letters (and easier to read: "wait, what was "P" again?"). Edit: we could even do full words. A bit more typing, but much easier to remember and read. I suggest 'char' (because 'character' is too long), 'item', 'setting', 'symbol', 'activity', 'special'.

I got 80. Does that mean I win?
In all seriousness, it was pretty weak satire, mostly because it seemed to lack a point (as in, it's pointless).

For any question on the internet that can be phrased "Am I the only one who <x>?" the answer is overwhelmingly No. Yeah, it's basically a universal constant. "Am I the only one who is currently poking holes in my underpants with a steak knife?" No. "Am I the only one who believes light bulbs are powered by pixie dust?" No. "Am I the only one who likes to eat the charred remains of chickens thrown in a fire when they were still alive?" No. "Am I the only one who starts hitting people any time someone mentions spaghetti?" No. "Am I the only one who named their hands after celebrity twins?" No. "Am I the only one who always does something really inappropriate when drunk, and then denies ever having done that, even to people who were present at the time?" No. etc.

I tend to identify myself as gender-disinterested for strictly ideological reasons. Simply put, I cannot refuse a person affection based on gender any more than I would if they had a specific color of hair - because like hair color, gender is not something we choose. My previous post with my blog can clarify the details of this if need be. Except you don't choose your orientation either. I won't refuse a man affection because he's a man, but I'm never attracted to men. I'm not sure what you mean about "refusing affection", but I assume you refer to romantic relationships and kissing and what have you. In that case, I won't refuse a man affection because he's a man, but I won't kiss him just in the interest of fairness, because it's not like I want to kiss all women. The people who I want to kiss are a subset of of the people to who I'm attracted, and the people to who I'm attracted are a subset of women (as far as I know). (I would have no problem with kissing someone I'm not attracted to, including men, if it is for a play or something, but that is an entirely different situation.) (I hope this all makes sense and is not too ranty.)

This script may be useful: https://gist.github.com/gvx/5696885
EDIT: I'll explain what it does: you run it in the directory with index.txt and it spits out a list of page ranges that haven't been done yet, including the URL to the first page in the range. When I ran it, for example, it printed:

The part you're leaving out is that getting Windows-only software (especially games) to work is a pain in the ass. That's why I dual boot 'buntu and Windows. If you see me using Windows, either something is terribly wrong or I'm playing games. If you see me using Linux, either all is well or I'm playing games. If you see me using OS X, you need to contact the authorities because I have stolen someone else's computer (with the intention to sell it, of course).

In retrospect, Ysengrin should have expected something when he noticed both Coyote and Eglamore were wearing party hats. I dunno, I bet Coyote for one does things like that all the time. Ys to Eglamore: "Coyote making you wear that?" Eglamore nods. Ys: "Ugh. I hope he doesn't make me put on a party hat."

Well, it was funnier in my head, but... Kat: Do what?! DO WHAT?! Chickcharney devil: "You should tap that." Chickcharney angel: "Oh, yeah. You should definitely tap that." As for Monty Python references: "Gunnerkrigg Court!" "Gunnerkrigg Court!" "Gunnerkrigg Court!" "It's only a model." "Shh!" ... "On second thought, let's not go to Gunnerkrigg Court, it's a silly place."

And I think it possibly would be obvious if a letter was written by a robot given the Courtbots quirks. So Annie wouldn't ask if the author was in the cafeteria with them. Annie is pretty clueless, though.
