So now that we've seen the catalyst, I'm eager for us to get to the exothermic stage of the reaction. Hopefully the plot isn't diving off into another direction again.

Ah, mousing over the unhelpful "less than a minute ago" gives the actual time. YAY.
Also, looks like the thinking this'll be a Rey chapter was right!

I love how Rey has that City Face picture he made on the wall! That is adorable!

I can't help but notice how extremely different both Annie and Renard looks and acts now compared to how they were in the beginning. Especially Renard - his transformation from a plushie almost comic relief character into this is probably the thing in this comic I have the most problem accepting.
Though I definitely like him more like this.

So, Tom has changed his art style...
This will take a while to get used to I think. The eyes are very anime like. It might just be this page though and it doesn't help that Rey's eyes are closed...
Maybe I'm just seeing things, but it feels really weird. Rey likes his books though

He probably feels more comfortable in the canine form since he can't return to his old body.
Anyways, sleeping renard is cute.

Can't say that I'm a fan, but it's possibly just this page and even if it's not, it's likely to change again in a few dozen comics anyway. It's still nicely drawn. so what.

He probably feels more comfortable in the canine form since he can't return to his old body. Anyways, sleeping renard is cute. Technically he could return to his body any time he wants. Antimony has relinquished control over him, although she could still probably go back to ordering him around.

I don't think the art on this page looks particularly different.

Heh I noticed the city face drawing on the wall too. Nice callback.
And I can't say I'm too bothered about the art change, Tom changes art style alot, often between pages, so it might even just change back again at some point.
Although if you're talking about the transition of Renard from soft toy to full wolf, it's more that he doesn't have to stay hidden or small anymore, and I would assume being a wolf is more comfortable than being a toy.

It's rarely been as apparent as it is here though. I think it's the combination of eye shape and size and head shape. Her forehead seems large. The pose and non-visible body probably play a part too. I dunno something about Annie's general appearance in this page just slightly weirds me out. I might also be overthinking it because it's been pointed out. Technically he could return to his body any time he wants. Antimony has relinquished control over him... Erm, what? p.848 She told him she would let him go if he asked her to. He declined. Not sure if that counts as relinquishing control. Depents on the exact mechanics of the whole etheric ownership thing.

Yes, I've been looking through the archives trying to pin down what's odd about it. The eyes seem to play a part. I think it might just be this one page. Previously Tom's art changes have been slow Tom's always had an anime streak in him. Tom's art is just fluid. The details aren't set in stone because he's evolving, kind of feeling his way forward, I think.

I like how Rey's room is filled with books. We know he enjoys reading. I don't see any significant change in Tom's art in this page. *shrug*

I didn't think much about it before I saw other people point it out. It's just one panel, so I'd wait to comment on his "new style".

Wow! Rey sure has a lot of Nancy Drew books!
I think Annie's nose is a little longer. Otherwise, I don't see anything unusual. Certainly not as different as when Annie accepted the position of forest medium.

So does that mean Renard is attending classes too now? Is he officially enrolled as a Student?

I took it just as her saying 'bye for the day. With Renard being a ancient fox being, him taking part in the classes would seem kinda stupid. Although him taking an interest in human sciences/tech could be interesting (see p.409 for possible starting point) His cat trees/climbing aides in front of the shelves are awesome. Shouldn't he technically be able to shapeshift into something bigger with thumbs ( p.227) to reach higher up books? The ease with which I found both individual pages referenced in this post scares me a little. I might spend too much time here...

Does anyone else think it would take a while for Rey to set up his room like that? How long is this after the last chapter?

Wow! Rey sure has a lot of Nancy Drew books! By some count, the number of Nancy Drew books are in the 300's - way more than the number of books on the wall. and yes, we see Ren has been reading - there's those books by his bed.

I'm eager for us to get to the exothermic stage of the reaction. I'm afraid the scale needs to be... reindexed. "Exotermic" parts in Gunnerkrigg are like this. So, Tom has changed his art style... This will take a while to get used to I think. The eyes are very anime like. Yeah, noticed that too. Can't say that I'm a fan, but it's possibly just this page and even if it's not, it's likely to change again in a few dozen comics anyway. It's still nicely drawn. so what. What changed? Compared to the last time we have seen Renard?
