Ya know... Why doesn't someone just ask Tom, so he can go 'gosh golly THEY'RE LIKE ELEVEN!' and end this debate? Mmkay? Plus, Kat having a crush on Eglamore is a lot more cute. personally i find it a little creepy that kat's crushing on someone the same age as her parents o.O; i just try not to think about it too hard

He probably is barely aware of it.

The assumption seems to be that shipping=lust. I'd just like to say that really isn't true. I'm a fan of Annie/Kat, because I like them both as characters, and it seems plausible. I do not like Annie/Kat because I think it's hot. As has already been stated, they're eleven. Not cool. On the other hand, they'll be 16 before too long

On the other hand, they'll be 16 before too long It'd be a while, actually, since they're 12 at present, and each school year takes two years (or so) of real time to tell. So I think it'll be about eight years of the webcomic to get them that old.

Eh. They'd be cute together, but I don't think it will or should happen.

Wow ... this thread got really weird.
As far as I can tell, it went from ideas like: There is a lot of speculation about it and that is fine, but I don't think Kat and Annie are gay in the actual story line (this is what I got from Todd's first comment)
to sentiments like: Kat and Annie can't be gay because female homosexual characters are stunt and would consume the plot line. (this is what I got from Uglyhead's comment, even though the caveat after the comment was meant to make it sound less insulting, I take it).
I also am a bit perplexed about how the idea of two girls being attracted to each other at 11 is 'ew', whereas the idea of an 11 year old being attracted to her older male mentor is 'cute'.
And finally, I think maybe we should get away from this 'worthy man' idea. I know this had more to do with the reason behind why people might consider a Kat and Annie relationship as plausible, but it smacks a little too much of the idea that lesbians only sleep with women because they're secretly waiting around for a 'real man' to show them the error of their ways.
I guess I'm trying to say - I think a lot of people do not think that Kat and Annie are attracted to each other in a romantic way in the story as presented. I agree with them. But I also get the impression that some people don't like the idea of Kat/Annie shippers even existing, or find the concept of lesbianism really threatening.

The reason that Kat liking Eglamore ias 'cute' is because we can safely assume that he would never ever try something with her. Which would be way past 'ew'.

What makes you think that if Annie and Kat had romantic feelings for each other at age 11, they'd try something with each other?

"I also am a bit perplexed about how the idea of two girls being attracted to each other at 11 is 'ew', whereas the idea of an 11 year old being attracted to her older male mentor is 'cute'."
Again, I don't think the idea that two girls being attracted to each other is "ew". I think the idea of much older readers getting excited about two young girls being attracted to each other is "ew".
Kat obviously is attracted to Mr. Eglamore. She's said so herself. Nobody's speculating that just because they think it would be hot. Hence, the difference.

Comic number 310 should clear things up once and for all.
This Thread is going to by 1 month old in 5 days, quite a achievement.

If you think you're not an exception to the rule, then you have a greater faith in shipping fandom in general than I, and I envy you your conviction.

i'm sorry, what exactly did that clear up? Hey, guess what! I like Kat and Annie as a couple and I don't fap to it! Lesbians =\= porn! Geez. I give up... I assume nothing could possibly convince everyone here of the idea that they aren't homosexual (and imho not necessarily heterosexual either [yet]).
My recommendation: Ask Tom.

i'm sorry, what exactly did that clear up? I think what nikita meant there is that you apparently can't have romantic feelings for a true friend. (Complete bull, in my opinion). I am wondering, though, if we're ever getting any input from Tom in this thread.

i wasn't actually asking what was cleared up, i was just being obnoxious.
i doubt tom's gonna weigh in on this one. it would be interesting if he did though.

My recommendation: Ask Tom. Are you kidding? It's Tom. He'll probably make some witty remark that doesn't explain anything and then disappear into the shadows in a puff of purple smoke, all ninja-like.

You guys, this discussion is bringing up some questionable ads. I don't see ads; I use firefox. I fell out of love with the shipping world because of Harry Potter, and the many many dubious shippings from people in that world o.O *shudders at the memories horror the horror![1]* [1] On a side note, I hate that book.

Really, I wouldn't feel bad about starting this topic, Tom, the people who have posted here have handled their differing opinions about this topic a lot better than I've seen in other forums. And besides, it gives us something to talk about In my own opinion, I've seen some things that I could be used as basis for shipping the pair, but overall there's more to suggest that they're just friends and I wouldn't really want them to be anything more. No one that I've read have been really that obsessed about it actually happening, anyway.

He'll probably make some witty remark that doesn't explain anything and then disappear into the shadows in a puff of purple smoke, all ninja-like. ;D I just think it's the only way to end the debate. (like Aspen d'Grey suggested) Both sides have several arguments to support their theory but neither one can actually prove it and I think it's not likely that that topic will come up in the comic soon, if ever. So either this thread dies down or Tom tells us (or deletes the thread).

I just think it's the only way to end the debate [...] So either this thread dies down or Tom tells us i thought we decided that tom likes watching us chase shadows across various continents?
