We could increase the pith of the male voices a bit. Don't know how well this works, but it can't hurt to try it.

Ok so I know the time has deadline time has gone (I think, maybe), but I put the audition on YouTube before 12. I had to rush out though so I didn't link it. But now, here it isThese are my bit-part auditions for Unnamed Teacher, Sleepy Teacher and Evil Clown. I basically had two voices I knew I wanted to use, but I wasn't sure which teacher suited which voice, so I've done two examples of each teacher to give people a comparison. Also I don't speak Spanish, so I think I've emphasised in the wrong places for the Clown. In good news, however, I think I've partly sorted out my fuzz problems. I took a tip from the other thread and put a dress sock over the mic - it really worked! Still a bit of fuzz there, but it's better than before. By the way, I was thinking, would young Surma, Anthony, Eglamore, Anja, Donald and Jones sound the same as their old version? I know a lot of guys at least sound a whole lotta different when they get older :/. Definitely, the boys at least. They're only 11-12 in this flashback, their voices won't even have broken at this point.

There's still 18 hours left before the deadline. Didn't I tell you all that I would let you know when the deadline was reached?

I like your Brinnie, yazzydream. It definitely sounds like someone who's got a handle on English but not quite mastered it. You even managed to make her sound Scandinavian, mostly.

Didn't want anyone to think I was done sending in auditions. I've been working on my second Reynardine audition. I've been trying to work with the "Word Of Tom"... A voice that sounds like Teddy from A.I. that works for the base of all of his forms without huge difference between them. I'm having a little trouble. In the meantime I've tried my hand at the other dogs in the Holy Trinity of canine-tree hybrid generals, trickster Gods and body-hopping energy foxes... "God" is "dog" backwards after all. www.youtube.com/watch?v=32wvHGR6cws&feature=channel

Would it be okay if I made an audition one day late? I'm a fanatic for voice acting, and I JUST now noticed this thread. D:

You can try for one of the characters in the later chapters. Chapter 1 is closed as of now, I believe.

I wouldn't worry about it though. Unless you really, really, really wanted to be Robot, none of the male characters show up again.

Auditions are now closed for Chapters 1 and 2. Goatmon, most of the male parts (and all of the major male parts) are still open for at least a week, so please submit your audition.
I will now be modifying the main post here, and opening polls for Chs. 1 and 2 shortly. Please wait to submit your votes until I have posted in the Voting Thread.

goatmon, your audition made me laugh, hehe Listen, this is not a professional production or anything, and we're all here to have fun, so I think it would be wrong of me to disinclude you from the auditions, for want of a mere 48 minutes. Let me make some edits to the threads and have you added in. I am confident that no one will mind. I would much rather err on the side of being lenient than being too strict, for something that's supposed to be fun all around.

Whew, ok, I've updated the voting thread and the audition post at the head of this thread. You should be good to go.
It's no problem, I'm sure any one of us would have done the same for each other.

I don't know, that Nikita has a shifty look about him... I jest, obviously We've actually got a really high standard of voice acting coming in, I can't wait for the next couple of chapters when some more major characters get introduced.

Just a note, I have updated the roles list. I have added "Gunnerkrigg Court Recruiter 1 and 2" to Chapter 11. These are both bit parts.
Edit: And "Mrs. Kershaw", a bit part, to Chapter 13. In case you couldn't tell, I'm scouring every page of the comic for anything I missed.

MAY I REMIND EVERYONE that you have LESS than a WEEK to submit auditions for:

And LESS than TWO WEEKS to audition for a whole host of characters, including:
Zimmy Gamma John Margo Donald Donlan Surma Shadow 2 Muut Red Fairy Blue Fairy
DON'T MISS OUT!

My dissertation is in now, and I finally have spare time again, so by the weekend I will have auditioned for:
Mort Sullivan's John Muut
I think I'll do another Eglamore audition too, I'm not too keen on my first one.
I'd just like to point out that although Shadow 2 is male (I think), his voice is supposed to be a literal mixture of Annie and Kat's voice, so really some females should be auditioning for Shadow 2's voice.

There are THREE DAYS LEFT to audition for two of the most important and prevalent adult male roles in the comic, Eglamore and Reynardine!
In addition to your opportunity to play a "being of the etherium", Mort!
(And, Paz and Janet aren't too shabby either!)
Don't miss your opportunity! I want to see more auditions coming in! Not just for these parts but all parts! (But especially these parts, because as I said, you only have THREE DAYS left to submit them!!)
Yarrgh! Post yer auditions, mateys!

I'd just like to point out that although Shadow 2 is male (I think), his voice is supposed to be a literal mixture of Annie and Kat's voice, so really some females should be auditioning for Shadow 2's voice. Shadow 2's voice does indeed present a problem. There are a few places where Shadow 2 "speaks" before being taught English. Examples are here, here, here, and here. Allright, technically those aren't examples, those are all of them. It is on the page after that that he first starts speaking in their voices: Kat's at first (note the color of his speech ballon) and eventually a combination of their voices (when he gets his own speech balloon color... I haven't researched this yet.) So I think what we'll have to do is have someone voice his sounds (they're too expressive to be just sound effects) until page 204, and have Kat read his lines, until such time as he finds his own voice which Tom describes as a mixture of Annie and Kat. And at that point, I'm stymied about how we want to handle it. Do we want to use the voices of those that are playing Kat and Annie? Do we want to have a different person do the lines, but someone who can imitate BOTH the Annie and Kat actors? That seems like that would be hard. Another question is, what did Tom mean by a mixture of Kat and Annie? That could mean that each word he says sounds sort of like both of them. It could also mean that each word he says, individually, sounds like whomever was the one that "programmed" that word into him with the vibravoiceometer tool. And -that- would be wierd, but doable. Like if Kat "taught him the words "I" and "Annie" and Annie taught him the words "love" and "you", would he sound like " I love you, Annie"? (obviously my boldface indicates Kat's voice and my italics indicate Annie's.) This would actually be pretty easy to do if we wanted to go that route. For Shadow 2's lines, we would simply have one of them record the line, give that recording to the other one, and have them read the same line while listening to the first recording so they can match the tempo and inflection as close as possible, and then in post-production, crossfade between the two, to reflect that he is speaking sometimes-in-one-voice, and sometimes-in-the-other. Thoughts?

Wouldn't having both the Kat and Annie actors say Shadow2's lines be unneccesary effort? I'd be more for getting one person to be Shadow2, preferably either Kat or Annie's actor doing an imitation of the other character. Shadow2 doesn't have many lines so it wouldn't exactly up their workload much.
