Well, things seem to be moving along quite nicely. By the way, who snazzied up the GKCFanProject home page? That was me. I did that a while back, but the colors still seem a bit off. Feel free to change it. Does that apply to anyone? I'd kind of like to see if I can get it to mirror the forums, though maybe with a more blue-green tint than blue-purple. I'm having a little bit of trouble reading the links as it stands.

Hey guys,
If you're still in need of female voices, I'd be glad to have a try at an audition or two. I've hesitated to throw my hat in the ring, mainly because I'm unsure of how everyone perceives each of the characters to sound, and therefore don't know if I can provide the appropriate voice. Also I'm American, hence no accent, but if that isn't a problem just let me know and I'll have a crack at it!

I'm just kinda looking for an update on this. I know who I've auditioned for... and everyone else, as I regularly check the Youtube channel. But Who of the needed voices HASN'T been auditioned yet? As in, voices needed to record at least the first chapter. 1st chapter only features Annie's Narration, Unnamed Butler-looking dude, and Robot. So... Unless I'm mistaken.. .just for that alone... we need a Robot. Anyone willing to try that? Or have any ideas how to do a proper Robot voice?

Oh man, I can't believe I never noticed this thread before. As a member of the VAA boards and amateur internet voice actor, I 'm definitely going to have to audition.

If you don't mind, here's a short list of my favorite auditions so far Jones - Miri Red - Wombat Eglamore - FuzzyOne Mort - Acherus Okay now I don't know if the following section is very convincing as I don't participate in this project myself and don't know much about voice acting but anyway: Here are some thoughts about the project: 1. I guess some of you sit in front of a microphone. As far as I know, everything that involves voice, like singing, talking to someone at the phone and voice acting, is easier/works better when you are standing. 2. Voice acting is not reading. If a character is upset, you should sound upset. Show some emotion! Good examples are Archerus' audition of Mort and Miri speaking Jones. Even though Jones is a particularly emotionless character the audition has more emphasis in it than most of the other videos so far. I admit this is difficult and means your neighbors will hear you - but it's probably called "voice acting" for a reason. 3. Someone already said it - it's probably best not to force an accent - my opinion is that you shouldn't even force any voice that is significantly different from how you normally speak. edit: Remember this is just my personal opinion. Do whatever works for you and have fun! I'm definitely looking forward to new auditions from everyone who has participated so far or who will in the future. I also think everybody who thinks he or she can improve should not hesitate to give it a second try! (not even professionals get it right the first time) This project is developing better than I expected.

my opinion is that you shouldn't even force any voice that is significantly different from how you normally speak. Half the fun I have doing voice-over is hearing someone who knows what I sound like say "That sounds nothing like you" whether they liked it or not. If you can pull off a credible voice, you shouldn't let it waste away because its not how you sound normally. I understand that "forcing it" may make it sound fake, but a good voice actor knows that and practices. Want to pick up a realistic british accent? Watch a british person or actor speak and emulate until it doesn't sound fake anymore. If anything I've learned in my few months doing this for fun its that it isn't voice acting if you're just talking into a microphone. Heck we see people talk into a microphone all the time and nobody calls them "actors". Like you said, they call it voice "acting" for a reason. If acting was all about doing what comes natually there would be no challenge and it would be less rewarding. Who would do it then? I'm no pro myself, but thats my two cents. Don't stifle the up-and-coming voice talents of tomorrow.

If you can completely change your voice and still sound convincing, then I'm all for it of course. The same is true for the rest of my post - they are just thoughts. Do whatever works for you!

Ugh, I had done all my voices, and then GarageBand ATE THEM! Grah. Seriously, I'll e-mail it to you and you can hear it yourself. It sounds like I'm speaking into a megaphone from really far away. T_T I'll re-do them later.

Well, I think I still have my MP3 around somewhere, if you need it again. And if not, A re-record will take 2 minutes.

No, your's came out perfect. T_T Mine sounds like @$$. It just freaked out, and suddenly the track with my voices on it now sounds like it's at the bottom of a well. T_T I thought my Anja voice came out pretty good too. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
If you want to record the next few pages of dialogue from the scene, I can get working on that when I re-do my current dialogue.

I can unleash audacity on it and make it sound a bit louder perhaps. I don't know how much background noise there is on the files, so it may sound contaminated. But you will at least sound not so megaphone from afar anymore . I like how ours turned out by the way ! (Not too happy with some bits I did, but eh, can always retake them later .)

Well, She already sent it to me. Her lines were... almost Inaudible. Only a faint hint of tinnyness, but that may be because there was only a faint hint of her voice. However, what I HEARD sounded good... Her Anja was indeed very good. Hopefully, she can get a version in order where everyone can hear it.

I just heard the team up, and I really like the dynamics between the two voices.
And once again, I see that my music will really need some work if it is to match the feeling of the music in the vid.

If you'll give me eight hours (to sleep), I'll try recording my voice to play as Kat. 'Cause, you know. I'm, uh, the same ethnicity and age. And gender. And you know kids all sound the same.

aro, I may be getting deaf what with slowly crawling toward anciency and all that fun stuff, but I really can't understand half of what you're saying in the audio file. Although I think you did a nice job with voice manipulation (what software are you using? ), you really need to try to articulate a bit more. It would also help if you could tell us which page you're doing because I don't know where the dialogue is from from the top of my head :x.

LAUGHING ON LINE, I'm not manipulating the voice at all -- that's me right there. I only used Audacity for amplification and noise removal (my mic is a cheap sucky one).
Also, I don't remember the pages, butone is one of Reynardine's infamous scenes right before YOU KILLED JEANNE, and another is when Annie and Kat came over and then Anja decided to go outside or something. And then I forgot what I did for the other one thingy.
Psst, Californians talk fast. Real fast. The average paragraph is less than a second.

I feel I must point out something that Tom pointed out some time ago.
He didn't say Anja was Romanian. He said she was Romani. In other words, she's descended from Gypsies. It's why Reynardine refers to Kat as Annie's 'Gypsy friend' in Two Strange Girls. When someone asked about it, Tom pointed that Romani live in MANY places.
Now We knew a few things about her. One, her name is Anja. Eastern European name, definitely. We also know in her younger days, she spoke with a much thicker accent. When I sound out how she spoke in my head, she sounds Russian. I may be wrong. She MAY be Romanian, and she IS Romani, but the two are not necessarily linked. Also, I imagine it would take two people standing side by side and speaking before I could tell any difference in the accents.

Just don't forget people: I'm doing the mmusic so only use pre-made soudntracks as temporary background music.
