I finally managed to get the GKCFanProject account started at YouTube for the Visual Audio Book fan adaptation (is that too many words?). I'm currently using YouTube, unless someone can create a seperate website specifically for the project.
At the moment, the project needs voices so upload your auditions and others can vote on them. The account name is GKCFanProject and the password is send me a message, the password has ben changed. Just be sure to indicate your member name and which character you're auditioning for. Once the voices are accounted for, then the real fun can begin!
Voices:
Meagan - Antimony aricos - Kat FuzzyOne - Reynardine FuzzyOne - Eglamore Anja and Donald Donlan Ms. Jones Robot Mort William Janet Parley Smith
(who else am I forgetting?)
P.S. This project may come off with a rocky start but the kinks will eventually be worked out.
Note to Tom: let us know if this project is overstepping its bounds.

I'd get that password off the post if I were you making the text white doesn't mean some jerk won't hijack the account and upload a bunch of porn on it. Only send the password to people who are interested. Or better yet, have people audition in some other way, and only give the password to people who are awarded roles in the project.
And make the password less guessable. Like some random line of numbers or something.
EDIT: Okay, I hope nobody hates me for this, but I went ahead and changed the password. Sand, I'll PM you the new one to give out to interested members.
I'm on board for the role of Coyote, by the way. I can also do some additional voices, as there are many, but I can't really do anything until the microphone I ordered gets here.

I got the message snes.
By the way, is your screenname a reference to the old Super Nintendo System or something else?

I had so much fun with that thing, playing with my younger brother and sister back in the day. Good times.

Hmm, there's several characters I'd like to try out for. I sent you a PM, Sandjosieph.
This is a really, really cool idea. I'd like to help out in any way I can.

I'd like to try Rey. Wouldn't mind doing Ysengrin, but he doesn't talk until chapter 15, so..yeah.
Is there a particular recording program we should use? I have Audacity and it's nothing you'd call "special."

no special recording program is necessary, as long as there isn't too much background clutter. It just has to be in mpeg-2 (or -4) with mp3 (or AAC) to make it compatible with YouTube. I usualy go with mp3 as I have yet to find out what AAC is.

I'd also like to toss my name into the mix. Not sure how well I can record, but I've wanted to do something like this for a while... A way to break into voice acting, as it were. I know I'm from the land of the Yanks, but hopefully, my attempts at a british accent won't be seen as insulting to those who actually have them.

His gender is set to "Male". I think we can find someone a liiiiiiitle more qualified.

I was thinking that everyone's auditions should be for their characters first speaking roles...
Annie is page 4... Kat is page 19...
(the cast page has the pages the characters first speak in...even BoxBot...)

It may be prudent to ask Tom of his opinions concerning the characters' accents, as he would surely know better than anyone else. That way, those with potential interest could get a better idea of how to make their voices sound.
I might be interested, but I'm afraid I run into the common problem of not being British enough. Given enough time, though, I might be able to replicate an accent that would not offend.

Also, I'd be great if everyone could submit a bit of dialog before they're "given" the role (even if you're the only one trying for it). Just pick a few lines here and there from the comic, preferably ones that show variety in the character's dialog (serious, happy, laughing, yelling, etc).

I too would be interested in a project like this! However, my voice is also fairly un-Brittish sounding. Perhaps try my hand at a robot?

Would you like the password?

Here's an idea for everyone recording their voices: use a thin bit of fabric (like that of pantyhose) to go between the microphone and your mouth. The microphone will pick up your voice but the wind of your breath will be blocked by the fabric. Let me know how much that actually helps as I haven't tried it yet.

But I do think think Jones is not necessarily British. Most of the faculty and staff, except Anja of course, are highly-likely British, but she's... something.

I think Anja is Romanian.
By the way, when I first saw Anja, I thought she was some sort of monster, what her eyes like that and everything.

Tom has said that he would prefer everyone on the project to use their own, natural accents rather than trying to force one, so there is that.
I'm interested in the project, I just need some time to get a microphone and maybe practice a little. I would be willing to voice any male character required, although I might have some difficulty with the young male students.

Well, I was going with some voices from 'Schoolyard Myths', namely William, Unnamed Literature Teacher, and Basil.
I don't THINK I ahve much ofa southern American accent, but some people tell me they can hear it. Don't let my Location fool you, though. Just because it says 'Tennessee' doesn't mean you should expect something like 'Larry the cable Guy' or Jeff Foxworthy.
Coyote would be a fun voice to do, though... Madman laughs are as fun as they are therapeutic.
Currently, all I have is the Microphone on my webcam, which doesn't provide very good sound or Clarity... But as soon as I get the password, I'll submit a couple test runs.

I'd definitely like to give Coyote, Mort, and maybe Robot a try.
I need a better microphone. D:

I just realized that I don't know how to pronounce half the important stuff in the comic. Oh dear.
Gillitie Wood - GILL-ih-tee, right? And (this is awful), is it An-TI-mo-ny or AN-ti-mo-ny? I've always stressed the "ti".
In any case, I will shine on as a crazy diamond. Craaaazy. x)

Good point. I kinda guessed about Rogat Orjak. (ROUGE-@ ORzhak) Hm... I have a tinny clip done through sound recorder... And trying to capture through Moviemaker was making this weird pulsing echo... I'm not sure what's wrong... If anyone can suggest a good, free program to use, I'm all ears.
And, according to Tom, you have Gillitie correct.

Sounds like fun. What about the action scenes, are you planning on having a narrator for them?

I'm not sure what's wrong... If anyone can suggest a good, free program to use, I'm all ears. I'm currently using Sonar Home Studio4 to record my stuff and the running it through Sony's Vegas Movie Studio to convert it to mpeg format. That's how I created this: It's the noise to go with scenes featuring the Sunny Birmingham of Zimmy's hallucinations. Sounds like fun. What about the action scenes, are you planning on having a narrator for them? I'm also currently working on a basic run through of a scene with just sound effects and music (minus voices as I don't have those yet) to give people an idea about how things will most likely be pulled off.
