Thank you to everyone who commented, I'll try to take your suggestions to heart. I need to practice a bit more, but this blasted cold is making it difficult for me; I've got a lot of pressure in my chest, and it's making it hard to breathe properly.

I think what your all doing is really cool! I wish you the best of luck on this project, and hopefully you can make something really special. Unfortunately my voice is awful and not suited to any of the roles in the comic. It's unfortunate, Gunnerkrigg is one of those books where every single character has a unique voice in my mind. Jones has the voice of Mon Mothma from Star Wars. It will be interesting to see people's interpretations of the voices.

The bit where you were saying "I bet it's because you're so attractive..." and the magnet thing were quite good, I thought. You were putting on a voice there rather than using your natural speaking voice, and I think it sounded very Mort-like. Thanks

Shoot. I'd like to at least audition, but my microphone is so bad, I wouldn't want to put that online.

Shoot. I'd like to at least audition, but my microphone is so bad, I wouldn't want to put that online. Do it. NOW. I command you. Somewhere in the Netherlands, a man reads the above, somewhat amused and curious. Is the project in such dire need of voices, or does someone have a liking for badly recorded voices? "Well," he decides, "if they ask for it, I might as well send it. Maybe they'll like what little they can hear of my voice. Maybe one of them can fix it. Or maybe I can find a way to get a better recording." He briefly contemplates refusing because he was ordered, but dismisses that as immature. That, or he is under a most subtle form of mind-control and is now ceallaso's pawn. I'll get it up when I have the time to do a recording, and have the password.

That, or he is under a most subtle form of mind-control and is now ceallaso's pawn. That's my bet. I put together an Antimony audition...same problem as the above: the sound quality is, well, kind-of-a-little-bit terrible, but my dad gave me some audio cleaner software, so I'm fiddling with it. So far, I think I might be able to get it to...less terrible. However, nothing will ever be this terrible. (I actually worked to enhance the terrible there.)

I'll have a shot at Coyote (rather pleased with my interpretation of him), Smith (that'll be more of a challenge) and perhaps someone else tomorrow.

I've been fighting some funk as well. That, coupled with absolutely no knowledge of how to actually MAKE a video for this, have kept me from submitting my tryout for Eggers, Reynardine, And much more seldom seen characters like Willy, basil, and the unnamed Literature (I assume) teacher from the early chapters.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always heard Boxbot like Insanity Prawn Boy, from Weebl's 'On the Moon' series. Equal parts Excitable, and awful. A voice you don't WANT to hear, but is easily made out.

Right. Uploaded. I see now there is already another Reynardine on there. I guess I could do Smith or Basil if the other guy gets the role.

Okay. Got mine recorded, and spiffed up with images at the right spot... trouble is, it's in WMV, and I don't know if Youtube will take that. Off to find out!

My suggestion for anyone doing Rey's voice should go for something dramatic, even when he's stuck in his small form. Probably something over the top-like...

Thanks. I'm thinking of submitting another one where I supply a test voice for Boring Teacher and Basil. Now that I see how easy it is, and have a way to record MP3 voice clips, This is a lot easier than I thought it would be.

So...I guess I'll take a quick poll. Who thinks I should re-record my Rey audition and try for something a little more...grandiose?

Rey's a fun character to voice. Think how THIS line sounds in your head: "REYNARDINE THE GREAT does NOT play with dolls!"
"I agree, Professor Oswald, the hyacinths HAVE been fairly lethargic this year."
Annie: Ahem.
rey: "Oh, Lord Strike me down!"
I can only think of a few occasions where Rey WOULDN'T be over the top, but in different ways. Sivo's body, to Annie, I tried for a... Regal sound. The voice one would associate with a Dragon... that isn't Sean Connery. Wolf Rey to me is 'Over the top' because in my head, it goes from His Plushie's Joking, snide tone to something more... noble, proud. Not quite the same as Sivo, but definitely a more serious voice.
I say go for it.

I say go for it as well.
And we still need more female voices...

Gah, I love all the Reynardines so far. I wonder if it work to have different actors for his various forms...
My Jones is up. The quality came out a little better than expected.
I might rally for another go at Annie - I just can't upload the first one. I slipped into a British accent (I read more fluently in it, which is bizarre and occasionally inconvenient) without realizing it, and it'll get laughed off the face of the internet by the real thing. Now that I know what filetype to use for better audio quality, it'll go better.

Once a video is uploaded on YouTube, it takes a while for the site to process it and make it available for public use.

I uploaded some music for when Annie and Kat go into the artificial habitat in A Hand ful of Dirt. Tell me what you think!
