I think your tarot set-up is interesting. The only ones I really disagree with is the Fool Card As far as they go, yeah Coyote is a bit of a joker, but the meaning behind the Joker doesn't really indicate that kind of persona: The Fool symbolizes an enthusiastic and naïve person eager to set out on his new life path, regardless of what lies ahead. He represents the unlimited potential of the human spirit, purity of action untouched by experience. It is the beginnings or a change of direction. The Fool also suggests that the seeker believe in themselves no matter what. But it can also be a warning not to go blindly wondering into a situation. Pay attention to your surroundings and not to push too far too fast. Don’t behave in an unrealistic, irresponsible manner. Inattentiveness to important details. The rest of the Major Arcana represent lessons that the fool has to learn. Reversed - Dispersion of energy. The delay of grown as a result of insecurity. Lack of conviction. Faulty choice or bad decision. Indecision. Apathy. Hesitation. But now that I look back on it, I think Ysengrinn would probably make a better devil card that and Coyote would be better as the Wheel of Fortune now that I'm rereading everything. I shoulda switched em.

We can still switch them if you want. I don't mind seeing an second version of the Ysengrin or the Wheel of Fortune card.

Good god, I'd love the Coyote card!!!! He's my favourite! How fortunate! Hee. This makes a very happy me. (although I'm not sure I can upstage your WIP, fuzzysocks...) Do we have a time limit on this thing? I'm busy doing math and science focused things often, as of late.

We've been at this for eight months and we still haven't finished the major arcana. Take your time anyway-you should do your best work even if it takes longer. We'll wait.

Ooh can I participate in this? I'd love to do Kat or Miss Jones if either of you guys didn't think you'd get around to it. Or whatever character anyone wants to give up? I think it's a great idea!

Would anyone be horribly offended if I posted a version of the Death card I did (Llandyran)? I already have it sketched up, and I'm planning on inking it tonight. I don't mean to gank anyone's well-deserved spot, I just got an idea for the card and thought it would be fun to do. Besides, we can never have too versions of cards, right?

personaly, I like seeing different versions and interpretations of cards (and from what i saw on the art board, anything drawn by you would be fantastic).
I'm working on the Fool card: its done in pastels and watercolors. I hope to complete it this week (hopefully my poor kids will get over their colds...)

Thanks Tanya! If there aren't any complaints, I'll post an inked version sometime tonight or tomorrow then. I may have to bust out the Wacom try to add some color to this one (although I can't paint for beans), since I don't think I'm skilled enough to do what I want with pure ink. I hope those colds don't run you ragged, as I can't wait to see your Fool Card!

As promised, here is the line art for the Death Card. I'll try to post a color version in the next couple of days. As usual, sketch was drawn with a 2H pencil, and inking was done with dip pens and India Ink. I had fun with this one.

Wow that's really beautiful! I imagine it would look great in color too Anyway I love it - I like that the "nooses" are shoelaces hahahaha! XD Kinda morbid but... I guess that's appropriate!

Thanks Auilix! Yeah... it is a bit morbid, in the color I plan on using the moon for backlighting, which will silhouette the fairies (except for Reds smile), and hopefully make it less explicitly morbid. Llandyran's sketch was much more true to the symbolism and meaning of the card (the Phoenix was a nice touch); I just drew what I saw when I closed my eyes and imagined the death card.
Anyway, despite the fact that I should really be coloring the death card (or heaven forbid, actually doing my schoolwork) I sketched up a version of the Tower card last night. I'm about to start inking it now, and will post it when I'm done.

Here's the Rough Inking of the Tower Card. It didn't come out quite like I hoped in all aspects, but I'm hoping the magic of digital color and touch-ups will fix some of the more egregious errors. I also changed some of the traditional symbolism of the card to better fit GC lore. Normally the tower stands for the past, and is being brought down by lightning to signify a life changing event (often a catastrophe, and one caused by the individual, not circumstance). I changed this by having the creation of the tower, rather than its destruction, symbolic of the event which changed Reynard's life (The tower is meant to be a memorial/mausoleum for the boy he killed). I guess this makes Reynard (between bodies) stand for the lightning. It's really cool how well some of these cards fit the characters. This one was a good study in basic perspective, and provided some good evidence of where I should work to improve (everywhere, but especially lips, eyes, and hair).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tower card!! I think it's fine if other people want to draw variations of the cards. The major arcana seems almost to be finished.

Here's a (restarted) little something for you guys. Most assuredly not done, but a start! EDIT: This is very appropriate, considering my post count and that Jones is so freakin' metal.

Sorry, Yin. I stole your card. Forgiveness? The imagery is perhaps somewhat inappropriate, but Zimmy didn't want to leave.

That's a good question. I didn't design it for color, but it probably wouldn't look too bad...
