Hey, just curious - can you all list the webcomics (besides GKC of couse) that you read? Unless that would overload ProBoards servers, heh. So. list and/or talk about them?

Isn't there another post like this? Oh well, I'll throw my list in here:
Sister Claire Awkward Zombie Flipside Rice-Boy (overside universe) Monster Pulse Stand Still Stay Silent and Minna's previous work, A Redtail's Dream Earthsong Paranatural Hot Blood Namesake String Theory Dragon Ball Multiverse The Young Protectors Bicycle Boy
I check up on Hark! A Vagrant, Johnny Wander, Hemlock, The Property of Hate, and Gastrophobia occasionally, but they don't update often enough for me to want to read/check them weekly.

At the moment I only read a few:
GKC (obviously) paranatural Girl Genius Gastrophobia (Goblins) SMBC Awkward Zombie Raven's Dojo
(in order of importance/awesomeness to me)
a couple of these unfortunately don't update a lot (mostly Goblins, which just suddenly stopped updating for about a year or so without a word, claiming (after a month or so) there would come a post saying why, which actually took almost a year for that post to appear, which was mostly a rant)
Anyway, paranatural, Girl Genius and Gastrophobia are really great IMO, I would recommend these 3 to everyone. (Girl Genius was less good (/ kinda bad) for a couple of years, up to the point I was gonna stop reading it, until about a year or so ago, it suddenly got on track again)
Actually Raven's Dojo was also pretty cool, but it just doesn't update enough for it to be higher on the list

Hey, just curious - can you all list the webcomics (besides GKC of couse) that you read? Unless that would overload ProBoards servers, heh. So. list and/or talk about them? This discussion had kind of been exhausted, but okay, I'll say mine again. Currently, The Order of the Stick, Snow by Night, XKCD (of course), Freefall, Questionable Content, Paranatural, Sandra&Woo and Gaia, and McNinja. Mine are nearly identical (listed in order of preference): - Gunnerkrigg Court (shocker, I know)
- Girl Genius
- Freefall
- Dead Winter
- Order of the Stick
- XKCD
- SMBC
- Demon's Mirror
- Questionable Content
- Dresden Codak
- Six by Nine
- Team Fortress
- Sandra and Woo (formerly)*
- Homestuck (occasionally)
Plus a few that have now been finished: - A Redtail's Dream
- The Last Days of FOXHOUND
*I used to read S&W, and it was one of the most beautiful reflections of life, um, ever. Plus Woo is hilarious and realistic (as in, thinks like a real raccoon would). But it has started getting strange and slightly creepy recently, so I'm on hiatus.

Questionable Content Order of the Stick Oglaf (nsfw) Darths and Droids XKCD
I came to Gunnerkrigg from QC, which I came to from XKCD. Of the three, it's the only one I've read every page of. XKCD, doesn't really provide a reason unless you want to see Randall's older observations/jokes. QC has no long term plot, so other than The Talk arc (and even then you could probably get along just fine without reading it), there's rarely a reason to look back further than 50 strips at the most (which given the format does not take very long) to have a good understanding of what's going on.

Anyone else following the Korean webcomic American Ghost Jack (also known as Jack, the American Ghost)? It is one of the most popular webcomics in Korea, I'm told, and an English translation is available on Tapastic for chapters 0-37. The Anime Planet review is as follows: "Go-Eun Ma has helped run the family’s haunted house since she was a child, even since her mother passed away tragically years ago. But over time, the exhibit has become run-down, tired and has few visitors, and is set to be demolished within the year. To help prevent this fate, Go-Eun hatches a plan - she’ll travel to America to visit the notorious Ghost Jack’s House, where staying for 15 days gets you a massive million dollar prize… that is, if you manage to survive and stay sane..." (4 stars out of 5) I'll add that the art style is a fusion between light-touch Korean-anime and heavy-handed American romantic horror genre. That difficult blend is brought off surprisingly well artistically and stylistically; since they're culturally a bit out of synch there's a lot of "classic" horror elements and themes thrown into the mix where western authors just wouldn't and I find the final product refreshing. The plot isn't new but is likewise a mashup of east-meets-west that I suspect many readers will find unpredictable except in hindsight. The main plot is the skeleton of a typical romance story that may as well have its roots in a high school, but instead began years ago in a mental hospital. Some readers looking for action/horror may find the body count too low; some readers looking for hot romance may find the steam setting too low. Still, the open-minded will have a good read, methinks. Sadly only about 2/3 of this webcomic is available translated to English and where it leaves off is where the plot lags.

imaginaryfriend > that looks interesting, I'll have a look. So, as someone said, we had a thread like that not too long ago, and since I read a lot of webcomic, I'm just going to do a recap of my current favorites here: Stand Still, Stay Silent; really, really recommend that one; light-hearted post-apocalyptic story with good drawings and awesome character-writing, and updated 5 times a week (with one-week pause between each chapter). And then, Iothera (nsfw), Witchy, Take Off! (completed), Poppy O' Possum, The Property Of Hate, Namesake…

I just started reading that, as well. It's been great so far. If you're Nordic or at all interested in Nordic cultures, it's really fascinating how it uses historical elements in the future, post-apocalyptic setting. It was a pretty hilarious to see a Viking Line cruiser converted into an actual, giant Viking ship, for example. And it's done pretty good job so far keeping it ambiguous if the setting is supernatural or not; we've got "mages", but so far the only thing they've demonstrated is extraordinary intuition, not necessarily actual magic. It's really cool to see how things develop, now that the expedition into the Silent World has finally gotten started.

If the title were an accurate description, that would be a REALLY boring comic... (I looked at it and it didn't catch my interest. But not all webcomics need to be for everybody. And at the moment I'm trying to TRIM my list - I dropped 20 comics last night. A couple had ended, a few more had just died, some had changed away from the story I liked, some simply weren't improving as hoped.)

Add a poll to this thread with all of the things listed here and an "other" option, so we can see how many read each.

Is there a limit on the number of items in a poll? I know that, by myself (in the older thread), I had over 100 items. (Now down to over 80.) And quite a few people listed a number of comics that I don't follow.

I personally read Questionable Content, GKC, XKCD, Sandra and Woo, and Gaia. I have perused some others, such as Dumbing of Age, but the five I mentioned are the only ones I read on a regular basis. Out of all of them, I say GKC is the best, in both the art style and plot/story side of the comic genre. I also read The Walking Dead, but that is a physical comic book, not webcomic format.
Does anyone have any comic book/graphic novel suggestions while I have comics on the brain? I gravitate towards scifi/fantasy and horror genres.

Does anyone have any comic book/graphic novel suggestions while I have comics on the brain? I gravitate towards scifi/fantasy and horror genres. I do very little horror. My wife does horror but she doesn't do many comics. Scifi/fantasy that I think you might find interesting - they color outside the lines of the usual conventions and cliches: El Goonish Shive - I'll let you figure out which it is. There's a mad scientist using alien technology to do magic. And then there's the weird stuff. (Art progression is extreme. Translation: early art sucks but it gets much better.) Freefall - science fiction doing a serious consideration (or maybe two or three) of what it means to be a person - with gag-a-day and running-joke strips smoothly integrated. Sometimes looks like a furry comic, but isn't. Sister Claire - fantasy, occasional horror. A nunnery, of an order dedicated to the elimination of witches. Several of the nuns are witches, naturally. Pun intended. 21st Century Fox - furry science fiction mixture of space opera, nerd jokes, and true-to-life. Cross Time Cafe - fantasy humor furry crossover. Can have more fun with a cardboard box than an entire litter of kittens. Includes major characters borrowed from Freefall and 21st Century Fox, among others. Twokinds - mostly-furry fantasy mostly-social adventure. Has the most unusual transgender character I've ever come across: NOT naturally that way, sex-changed, or body-swapped.

Scifi/fantasy that I think you might find interesting - they color outside the lines of the usual conventions and cliches: I love Freefall greatly, but I generally don't enjoy most other furry webcomics, generally (especially Better Days/Original Life). Twokinds looks interesting, though...but I suspect if I start reading, I'll never again have a productive day. OGRuddawg: check this out. Unfortunately it was cancelled early so the last episode is...abrupt and unsatisfying. But it's still a brilliant deconstruction of the science fiction and superhero genre...and also history.

For horror I advise Broodhollow. In spite of the unassuming graphic style, it's a really well written comic that developp its rather unique atmosphere, a bit Lovecraftian, but more self-aware and tongue-in-cheek (but still genuinely horror, not parody of horror). It's currently on hiatus, scheduled to start again next year, but there's already two complete arcs to read.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I also forgot to mention Lackadaisycats, which has an amazing Prohibition-era St. Louis story arc. Also, the characters are cats. Enough said.

Does anyone have any comic book/graphic novel suggestions while I have comics on the brain? I gravitate towards scifi/fantasy and horror genres. No one's mentioned Ben Fleuchter's Derelict online graphic novel: derelictcomic.com/?strip_id=0 . Best read in one sitting because it takes several dialog free pages to set the atmosphere and establish the sole character and the chronology gets complicated. Uniquely designed world with post apocalyptic humans conflicting (very) uncomfortably with an alien culture. Book 2 - Cloister - continues with a new character in the same world but with a large contrast: two writers, dialog heavy, crowd scenes set in a busy "city", not really any horror, references first book. Updates are irregular. I'll wait until it's complete. EDIT to add long-form comics I read that are not mentioned yet: Scary Go Round/Bad Machinery (anything by John Allison really); and Kate Ashwin's Widdershins (still ongoing, might be too whimsical for some).

Well, I listed mine in the other thread and may repost at some point, but I just wanted to say that I have read through Stand Still Stay Silent as a result of someone's recommendation here and I think it's pretty great! A bit of a slow start, but the art is gorgeous and the characters are fun and likable. I'm excited.
