This is true, but even so it took a couple days to get the thing dealt with. I'm assuming this doesn't happen too often, though..? This is the first time in recent memory. To my recollection, hypetrain was the only person who ever came on the forums expressly for the purpose of trolling. There was another guy on the 'how do we feel about kat being gay' thread who got banned for being a jerk.

He wasn't thinking at all, probably. Otherwise he wouldn't have sent Tom an email announcing what he was about to do. Even if he himself was acting out of boredom without thinking perhaps he was a scout making a series of escalating provocations, even if he wasn't conscious of what he was doing. Now some other people know how things work around here without having to read old posts. (waggles eyebrows ominously) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back on topic: I believe it was said that the forum is for discussing the comic. But if he does not yell at us I guess that has changed, at least for some semi-comic stuff now and then. But if there is to be general non-comic discussion there really should be another venue. The fanbase will either prove to be large enough to support it or not, and then the admin and mods will either prove to be up to the task or not. I support the idea because it would be very useful for growing the fandom if it worked out. I would provide moral support and possibly some additional fan-art for content but not too much else because I don't have the time. I don't really have time to be here; I blow through *this* forum so quickly some of your avatars don't have time to load correctly... For a long time I thought keef was just blinking at everyone peacefully... And we don't have try now. Perhaps this will be one of those internet things that will have to reach a critical mass. How many people do you guys think would be interested in joining?

Hmm. This forum is polite but we *have* grown a bit quirky without general chat. And that has probably caused the fanbase to stay smaller than it should have been... which has allowed some spiders to scuttle away what could have been turned into dollar signs one way or another over the years for the author. Wouldn't that be pound signs?

It's flavor of the moment. Take your pick. I take it you're from the south, Goose? It would explain a great deal. I like lots of other places, but I was born in California and I think I'd like to die here too. (At a ripe old age, with my feet tucked into my bed, of course.)

Wouldn't that be pound signs? He colored the bills green here so I'll say spiders ==> dollars is okay to say. Last time I checked UK money was still 64-flavor colored. But yeah he lives in England so pounds is what he spends.

welp, like I said, I'm from Cali, Silicon Valley specifically, and proud. Apple and Google are just down the road. If it sounds like I'm bragging, it's because I am. I'm not sure whether to feel special or left out by that map.

I'm not sure whether to feel special or left out by that map. It's a bit of both, really. A lot of people have a certain, automatic level of resentment towards Californians because of the gauzy cheapness that gets pumped out of places like Hollywood and exported everywhere. Californians compensate for this by pretending we are special snowflakes of some kind. I mean, seriously, "the golden state"? That is a cry for validation if I even heard one.

On the tech-related front, Apple's kind of a shame to a large number around here as well. And Google..well take a look at what's been happening to Youtube lately for the past ~7 years

Actually, I can't perform more than basic tasks on IOS or Mac OS, and am frustrated nearly every time I try to use my parent's MBP. I still think Google's awesome, though. Plus Silicon Valley has lots of cool smaller startups.
Very ironic - my spell checker marks 'Google' as correct, while 'Googol' is incorrect.

"Don't be evil" has become something of a sick joke, considering what we now know about the NSA. Yep. The wise hippy gurus foretold that when California slips into the sea the air will be full of them.

I'm currently studying near Los Angeles, and I overwhelmingly prefer the northwest. The land has more life and the people are nice and casual. It fits a mountain man/scientist like me.

Oh Los Angeles is DEFINITELY overrated. One of the most overrated places in the world, as a matter of fact. Whenever I'm away and someone asks me if I miss LA I tell them "only the weather". LA people are not my kind of people, I generally prefer Norcal. I was born and raised near Santa Cruz for the first 13 years of my life. The rest of California kicks ass. Hottest deserts, tallest forests, the sun is out for more than 300 days of the year... bellissimo.

The weather is actually the thing I miss the most about Washington, but I'm a large man prone to athletics, so heat doesn't sit well with me. I'd like to explore NorCal. It's landscape, of course, rather than its population centers, though I guess I should visit those as well. I've hiked in the Sierras once, and it was quite an experience. As I see it, the Cascades are prettier, but the Sierras are more dramatic and challenging by virtue of altitude. I don't have a good idea of the LA culture, insulated as I am at school, but it doesn't seem to fit me.

Yep, I am in the Portland Oregon area myself and I love it here. Green most of the year round, mild temperatures, yeah was get a little rain... But no natural disasters to speak of! No hurricanes like the East coast, no significant tornados like the mid-west gets. Only minor tremors for earthquakes. In all my life I have only had to deal with one Volcano which was equal parts very cool and gigantic pain in the butt.
