In imitating a human spam bot, you must not omit how strangely disjointed the messages appear to be. "The evolution of sense is the evolution of nonsense", etc. I've seen a couple that were practically free-form poems... I think they were randomly assembled from phrases from various sources to imitate a human-written e-mail but they were nearly print-worthy. I found the randomness of common internet sales phrases combined with the snippets of conversation and bits borrowed from articles and classical sources to be a good reflection of the age we live in.

For the last few months Proboards adds a redirect to every url, for example Sky Schemer's link from today:
https://www.orau.org/ptp/collection/civildefense/cdv700M.htm becomes
http://redirect.viglink.com/?key=lotsofnumbers&u=https%3A//www.orau.org/ptp/collection/civildefense/cdv700M.htm
As I had redirect.viglink.com in my hostfile already, I ended up with blank pages, so I have been switching JavaScript off before following a link lately, or just copy/pasted links. I tried to find a workaround using NoScript, but no success yet. Anyone found a better way?
( I tried viglink's opt out, but it doesn't seem to change anything.)

Assuming browser != chromium-based and ublock origin is installed, add this to your custom filters: proboards.com##script:contains(vglnk) github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Inline-script-tag-filteringguessing proboards doesn't want you to do that, but if they're going to act like malware by hijacking every single link on the forums and defacing them to the point where they dont even work half the time, then i'm going to treat them as such

Thanks Gotolei ! Works like advertised Proboards then started complaining about the use of ad-blockers(and of course they have a point there), so I did switch off some of the standard filter-lists. I'll fine-tune it later.

I'm so happy, my brothers and I are opening gifts at my dad's house (traveled back to my hometown yesterday), and the first gift I opened was the first two volumes of Gunnerkrigg Court and a Court symbol T-shirt! My favorite gift so far!

The links are changed to viglink again after a few seconds. The only way to avoid is to reload a page and click fast... These days I tend to avoid the proboards forums because of this CAN WE TALK anti-adblock messages. If it's uBlock you use, those messages can be avoided by using the "EasyList without element hiding rules" instead of Easylist, although officially that list is out of date. Combine it with Ghostery and a nice long hostfile, and you should be OK.

You're in luckproboards.com##script:inject(abort-current-inline-script.js, $, vglnk) ...works for me. Looks like it'll be built right in soon enough if not already, actually. Also, this might be worth looking into re: the pop-ups.

Went walking with friends around my city's downtown yesterday. Everywhere we went I saw pigeons. This made me happy. Thanks, Tom Siddell, for helping me appreciate City Face and his buddies.

Chapter 11 of the manga Yonaka no Reiji ni Harem wo!! is basically an alternate retelling of Gunnerkrigg Court's The Stone, although only the cooling Earth and dinosaurs (no feathers) are shown.
My earliest memory...
That is...
Stretching as far as the eye can see–
An ocean of magma.

Great. Forum inserts sneaky wiggly links now. Oh, well. Redirector, new redirect, "http://redirect.viglink.com/\?key=(.+)&u=(.*)$" to "$2", regexp, decode. Done.

Sorry if this is on-topic, bit, was there a Boxbot rule thread? I don't find it. Or was it too terrible and deleted?

Throwing around an idea for the dezinens of the forum, based on something that the subreddit has been doing for a year or so:
End-of-chapter discussion threads, pertaining to the chapter as a whole.
Following the updates on a page-by-page basis is nice and all, but because one chapter ends up spread out across a month or two it's easy to miss or forget the arc of a whole chapter in general. This past chapter, Perspective, for example. I've long lost count of the number of comments where people had forgotten why they were in a red zone in the first place. And that's to say nothing of the seemingly endless confusion that New Contract stirred up.
A thread about discussing the whole chapter would likely clear up the plot as a whole for those who've lost a link in the chain of events, find connections between different parts that would be otherwise be missed, and also probably be a nice way to catch up on the perspective and thoughts of the time while doing re-reads.
Figured it'd be an idea worth sharing since a chapter just ended. Dunno if the idea's come up before since proboard's search function is still made of rotten potatoes despite all the v5 hype, but as far as I can tell the only instance of this sort of thing happening in the past is one about a specific aspect of chapter 71. I'll leave the thread creation to someone more eloquent than myself who also shouldn't be doing coursework right now, if someone does want to go through with it.

There is a subreddit? Well now I joined!
As for discussing the chapter as a whole, it's not a bad idea, as ideas and theories tend to get lost among the many pages that end up mking up a chapter. No harm in starting one and trying it out I guess!

Such a thread would be useful - I find it all the more appealing since I'm generally most interested in the main thread of the chapter. A lot of the time, the discussions seem to stem around the "bit elements" (gags, pop culture references, etc.) rather than around the latest step in the story, and I suspect the "thread on an individual page" makes it easy to take that approach. (Which might even contribute to the audience confusion, for example.)

Question: I'm on a search for a webcomic that I read maybe four or five years ago and can't remember the title for. Any ideas how to find it or what it was?
It was a sci-fi type comic about a girl who was a mermaid (not in a "little mermaid" sense, but not a "harry potter" sense either.) I think her parents were a lot more eel like than she was and their coloration was black or white with spots. She could breath underwater and on land, and snuck into a city through the pipes. I think she got pulled out of the water system because people like her weren't supposed to swim there (I think their secretions clogged the pipes or something). Of the land-based characters, one was an android. Any one run across something like this before? I feel like it was unfinished.
ETA: Found it, Thermohalia
