Was reading Sandra and Woo in 2013 when James appeared in an arc with Novil mentioning/linking to GC. I remember that! But it wasn't when I started reading GC. Something else, and I don't remember what, mentioned Zimmy and the dark reality she could suck people into. I think it might have been the discussion forum on another webcomic, but I don't remember which one. That was the second time I'd run across a reference to GC, and that was when I came over here. Then I started reading this forum when I couldn't figure out what the heck was happening on a page (a rather frequent occurrence).

My sister told me about it. I looked at the first two or three pages and said no thanks, I don't like the art style. She assured me it would get better. I said okay and randomly opened a more advanced page. It was the one where Margo and John heal the ghosts with their music. I was convinced and read through everything (at this point, "The Great Secret" was almost finished) within three or four days. [emphasis mine] My experience was quite similar - I had the same reaction to the the original artwork. But since my first views of the comic were approximately the start of Chapter 76, I saw how the style had become so much more vivid and expressive over 15 years. So I concentrated on the overall story rather than focusing on the visuals, was hooked, and caught up within a month or so.
