Agasa, that looks fine. We'll need to edit the area in front of the bridge since that's where most of the school stuff will most likely go (I'm assuming?), but the rest of the map is good. Are you handling making a flat map? If that's the case, when you're done creating a world, could you send the file to me so I can get it into the server? Also, what do we want to call this new world? We can probably call it Bismuth now, since we're flattening out the world anyway.

Don't you have an Instant Messaging thing? it would be easier that way, or let's use #gunnerkrigg on irc.villageirc.net. I have baked the schematic already, and rebaking it would take too much time (approx. 2 hours), so we'll just flatten the necessary area by hand as we build, it's relatively small anyways.
To make the flat map painlessly, we need to generate it on the server, download it, merge, and reupload. it is the easy way, and it gives us a well-generated underground foundation. Please contact me in some way, as i can't get the redstone hosting thing to work right.

did you watch long enough? think of it like looking the slices of a cake. the first slice is the bottom, the last is the top. One slice in the middle should contain streets, lakes... If you're not very attentive, that slice that contains much of the map information that is actually important would just skip past your eyes. In other words, please wait for the good parts, because most of the beginning is just the deeper levels, composed of stone and dirt/grass. EDIT: A stillframe of the map with most stuff superimposed: imageshack.us/f/543/gkc2.png/Streets are grey and red - the red segments have the subway under them. EDIT: Conversion done! at least to an amount. I still have to test that everything went good, then i need to hear goofanader, put in a flatgrass plugin, generate some terrain and merge it with the map. Don't worry, be happy www.minecraftwiki.net/index.php?title=Enderman&oldid=126241 I hope theres going to be world guard. because it looks like these things can move random blocks at will >_<

Hey everyone, I know I've never posted on the forums and whatnot. So I'll take a second to introduce myself, My Name's Isaac. So you can call me Izzy, or Kazuki. Either is fine. I've been a fan of Gunnerkrigg for the past 2 or so years. And I've been into minecraft for the past year. Now, as I was searching the net, i found that gunnerkrigg had a server. As i read through some of the posts here I realized that it's been down. Now, I'm not sure if anyone put this in here yet, or if anyone has even realized it. But Brohost is the main cause of the problem. It's pretty much up and quit on everyone.(Happened on my regular server, which caused everyone to lose three week's worth of work on the server because of a rollback when we switched hosts. ) So I wanted you guys to take a look here at the info on Brohost's current problems. crafthub.net/2011/06/18/popular-minecraft-host-brohoster-is-in-shambles/In addition, As I haven't been gone through all the replies, I thought I'd mention the host that my current server is now using. It seems to be working well for us. www.redstonehosting.net/I hope any of that helps at all. The idea of Gunnerkrigg coming to life on MC really interested me. So I will try and keep an eye on this topic, as I would really like to see this server come to life as well. That's some good internet drama there. Brohoster is alive at the end of it, though with damaged PR.

But what is to stop it from happening again? Best to just leave brohoster alone methinks.

Ditto. that's why we switched over to Redstone. Now i'm battling against unreasonable FTP clients acting crazy and corrupting chunks, but that's another problem. EDIT: And i succeeded in uploading all the chunks, without corruption this time. We'll be setting up the flatmap with the stuff i thought about, but in the meantime you can continue to build. Have a nice day!

Well it is if you continue to show interest. Why did you get doubts?

No one was ever on the server. I would like to join as well, please. My Minecraft name is larka85.

It goes like this: No one is ever on the server because no one else is on the server - people see the server empty and go away. So the server stays empty. And thus people see it empty and they go away. Repeat ad infinitum EDIT: your name has been added to the builder list. If someone else wants to be added, or promoted to Super Builder (anyone is eligible, as one week has passed since anyone was added to the builder list) just write here.

maybe we could arrange some sort of group building event for a single part of the project that is too large to be undertaken by just one?
I believe there is a website to arrange such events easily, let me see if I can find it.

The server is still there, it's just that you people are not. I even prepared a flat map for you to play with :/

Redstone Hosting changed how they do payments, so I had to get another server. The new host:
node3.redstonehosting.net:25583
I've transferred all data over, so it should be the same, if not exactly the same. Let me know if something's weird, though.

Well, I'd really like to be whitelisted if this is still up. Love the comic and making a Minecraft version would be pretty amazing. By the sounds of it, you need new players anyway.

I would like to be whitelisted too, ign is Lord_of_Potatoes . ;D
Also, we might want to recruit people from MCForums, I think we'd be more active if we did that.

I think I've figured why the build hasn't really got far past the few parts of court we know for sure.
We will never be able to know all the court (heck there are hints that most that live there haven't seen it all) and Tom is never going to release maps or blueprints. So what we need to do is build the bits we know for sure and then wing it for the rest, keeping style and things there.
just thought of this because of a youtubes video I saw. Some guy built final fantasy I but as it was 8 bit originally, he tried to make it look as much like the few maps he could get, then winged it for the rest.

Heya guys. Of course I am still here, but unfortunately my internet has been almost cut due to changing home. I am unable to minecraft right now. Please ask goofanader for help. I am using my phone to post, from a random WiFi. Sorry to be unable to help further. [EDIT]: I have internet again from home, but after moving the server i lost the FTP access (again ) so i have to wait for our Goofanader again. Sorry for the wait, it's not my fault. At least, not most of it.

Ok guys, i dug up a password. I'll add your accounts shortly and then update the server to the latest version. Stay tuned and cheer for the server ;D
[EDIT] Ok, some administrative ***kup, Goofanader: we seem to be running two independent, separate copies of the server, one on node2 and the other on node3, different ports. This makes no sense.
What gives?

The node 2 one should not be working, at least in theory (I'm not paying for that). Redstone Hosting changed their prices and such, and if I wanted to have the same stuff as was in the node2 server, I had to upgrade to node3. Use the node3 server IP and stuff, not the node2 one.

The FTP password you gave me once upon a time seems to refer to the old node2. Care to help?

We should see if someone could publicise a build day. (Tom maybe? or Start a Tumblr Event the same way GKC fan art day got one?) do it proper planned out, One huge thing that we don't know specifics of; get someone draw concept art and then as a huge organised team build it (with some artistic freedom). One option is the huge railway system that connects court, or something much more grandiose such as erm... A Grandiose Structure! whenisgood.net/

Why hello there, finally someone shows interest again. I was a bit busy, and let everything slip. The server should be alive, but if it isn't, we have backups.
Try connecting to the newest address (it's here, a few pages back.)
Expect and take note of malfunction and report back here.
I'm all for an underground railway that sometimes goes up into the sky and does crazy stuff.

I tried connecting to node3.redstonehosting.net:25583, but it says "Connection Lost - The server responded with an invalid server key"
Did I do something wrong, or is the server down/having other problems?
