I've been reading the minecraft forums, and it looks like the "invalid server key" problem is something a lot of people have been running into. However, it also looks like it can be fixed by upgrading the server to the very latest version, 1.0.1: www.minecraftforum.net/topic/801030-100-invalid-server-key-fix/page__view__findpost__p__10491471(I do occasionally get an error saying that the server is out of date, and I think I'm running the latest (client) version of minecraft) Thanks! PS: I also would be interested in a crazy minecart track that goes up into the sky and stuff. And... and maybe underwater?

Is there any remaining interest in this project?
I found the latest, complete and in good shape map in an old backup, and got a nostalgia attack.
It's as beautiful as ever, and begs to be completed. I could put up an hamachi-powered private server if you guys like it.

Given that my home computer is up semi-permanently, i can easily set up a (low power, high lag) server for you to enjoy (?). Download Hamachi here: secure.logmein.com/hamachi.msi and install it. enter the network "GunnerCraft" with password "1234", once you log in the network you can connect to the IP 5.209.105.33. The server is in creative mode; If any griefer idiot is around, considered what happened in the past, please note that given my usual backup regime any kind of griefing is a mere annoyance at best. Leave the place alone and don't bother your fellow humans. Thanks.

Been waffling around about it, but seeing as I'm always on freaking minecraft anyways, I'm totally willing to help. I'm not the most talented builder, but I could maybe be useful. I'm crimsonfern on minecraft.

I'll put the server up today.

GunnerCraft was filled with four builders - as such, i'm opening a new connection slot on Hamachi, GunnerCraft2. The password is still 1234, join ahead.
EDIT: I had an idea, potentially revolutionary. So far, we've been building stuff from scratch, on flat terrain. While this is good for fixed landmarks, for random buildings it gives a mediocre result at best.
So, why not use the current natural terrain landmarks as inspiration, and build with the contours of those in mind - creating scaffolding and then demolishing the dirt inside?

May I ask what happened to the original server? Only just found this thread.

The server is exactly the same, it's the hosting that changed, unfortunately...
As far as i remember, Goofanader dropped it for lack of funds.
Skyrim coming out and making the number of minecrafters drop momentarily too was a problem, but i may remember it wrong.

If anyone's still interested in the GC Minecraft project at all, i'm half looking into resurrecting it as a Tekkit project. So we can have actual industrial stuff. And an actual city, mostly procedurally generated. Felt like it because it was awesome, I just finished university and i want to be able to say i fricking saw the Court built properly. I plan on making it crowdfunded, so we have the double vantage of 1) maintaining commitment and 2) making it sustainable for everyone, given the last time, it failed due to Goofanader's lack of funds. I still have all the old structures backed up, even if the only really nice ones were the dormitories and the Court's entrance's façade. If you would like to discuss it, including hosting solutions and whatnot, join us here: webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=gunnerkrigg

I may be able to provide a low-power host computer. I would certainly like to participate in the building process. When I first joined the community, I thought this might be very interesting, and was disappointed to find that it had already died. I hope the resurrection is successful.

Alright, so we've been talking on IRC. I guess I'm hosting. The computer I will be using as the server is an older Dell model. 2.2ghz Core 2 Duo, 2gb RAM, 5400RPM hard drive. Later I should be able to upgrade to a much more powerful laptop, but for now, I don't have anything better. If anyone else has a better option and wants to host, please say so.

I can vouch for Fragnet servers. They are on the expensive side, but stable and easy to manage. Edit: looked at Agasa's proposals, apparently the price is quite competitive.

If we were to do it, would you contribute? As it stands, it's me, Fwip and Gotolei. 20/3=6.66$ for each one of us - if we were to split further, we could pay less than five dollars easily. Anyone? I think it's worth it.

First off - I would rather save my cash for the next couple of weeks towards the motherboard, CPU and RAM of my new computer. Sorry guys :/
Until we get a proper host, I will start running the server 24/7 now that I have had a chance to forward the port and we don't have to rely on Hamachi. The IP is 24.6.173.245:25565.
Questions, complaints, or comments, please PM me, or better yet, join the IRC channel. I will be a responsible server owner. (I hope.) In addition, I don't think that we have any reason to move on to another server unless this setup shows a real shortcoming. I won't lie, I put a bit of work into this and would rather it not go unused.

It tosses me out saying Bad Login... and i'm one of the few that paid minecraft to get into it. My login is definitely fresh and hasn't gone bad at all. Something's fishy here. EDIT:I just got my engineering degree, and someone's happy to pay me a yearly clanslots subscription as a gift. Guess they think it's an easy enough gift? I guess we can make it synched with Fwip's setup with a few dropbox-like tricks. EDIT2: Wow. That was easy. And a much better gift than a gold-rimmed pen, or something...that costs double that price apparently.

In my experience all you have to do to fix the bad login error is restart Minecraft. However, as long as you have the subscription, we might as well use it. The request did go through - the server log has you getting disconnected 8-10 times.

I restarted Minecraft every time after the third retry, and it didn't work. Something's really amiss here...

It worked for me yesterday, and trying it again just now it's still working :/

Alright. I'll just set it so that it doesn't check your credentials - that should fix the bad login errors, although it is a bit sketchy security-wise.
Edit: Nevermind, turns out that's only available in later versions I guess.

Hm, another thing you could try is logging in via my account. (I assume you reentered your login info every time you restarted?) The information is in the spoiler below. Keep in mind, if you steal my account, I know your IP address. I will totally go all hacker-ninja and virus you. If you're not Agasa, don't click the spoiler. just kidding, I'll PM you the info instead. If that doesn't work, try logging out on Minecraft (not Tekkit, make sure you're logged out on Minecraft) and deleting the Technic bin file. I'll try restarting the server too, see if that helps. www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1755511-tekkit-server-problems-login-failedbad-request-and-bad-login/

Is anyone using the server? If not, I'd like to take it down. The only person who seems to want to work on it at this time is Agasa, who apparently can't access it. I'd love to participate in the building, but early structuring (large landmarks like the Annan Waters and the lake next to the power station) aren't really my thing. If anyone's using it I'll leave it up, but looking at the log it doesn't look like anyone is.

Alright, I'm taking it down. If anyone wants to use it, message me and I'll have it up ASAP, but for now, I'm taking it down. No one has successfully logged in in the last 48 hours except for Gotolei to test it.
