Or, rather, she just wants Kat to try walking in her shoes before she comes to conclusions. "Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes." EDIT: I can't believe it took me this long to realize that Kat's new hair looks a lot like Paz's.

Version 1: Jones says to Kat, "Carver decided to stay in the forest over the summer," walks off leaving Kat standing there. If I had to guess, I would say Version 1. From the comic you linked, we see that Jones was not happy with Annie's decision to stay in Gillitie; Jones will have little inclination to go out of her way to minimize the consequences for Annie. Yeah, I caught Jones' reaction, which is why I had to wonder what it was she said, if anything.

Come on guys, they are both tired from a long break and the flight/train back, I'd say give them both until the morning, in-universe time that is, not neccesarily tomorrows comic.

Absolution. "See, Kat? In spite of how things look I was thinking about you lots and here is the proof. Boots! I made you boots over summer break! And you don't really need to wear shoes in the Wood so you know it's a luxury made just for you." ...and then imaginaryfriend read the rest of the thread, and felt quite silly. Not sure what you mean. I just finished skimming the thread again and while other people have said similar things I didn't see anyone say absolution or self-imposed penance (except me). Unless you mean the song lyric chain that I broke. Or, rather, she just wants Kat to try walking in her shoes before she comes to conclusions. Heh. But let me use your post as a chance to clarify. I think Antimony made the boots for Antimony. By making the boots as a gift for Kat, Antimony would then feel better about ditching Kat and Antimony could let herself enjoy her vacation in the Woods. "Charity with women's footwear covereth a multitude of sins."

"Charity with women's footwear covereth a multitude of sins." While that is a very likely, given Antimony's uneasy smile in the second to last panel, I think it's her awkward version of a peace offering. It's somewhat endearing, even it won't resolve the situation. The way I see it, as rational and eloquent she can be when she acted as a medium between the supernatural and the Court, Antimony lacks a good amount of interpersonal relationship skills--like not ditching your best friend without a word or thought about how that might affect said friend. From what we've seen she hasn't really interacted on a close personal level withe many people other than her mother, supernatural beings, Kat, and (now) the inhabitants of the forest. I would add her father, but it doesn't seem like they have the closest of relationships, :/ So this is her way to learn and grow not only as a character but as a better friend. That and I think it's a wonderful way to showcase to her some of the consequences of her impulsiveness. She has to learn she can't just do stuff without thinking and expect everything to be okay and for everyone to be okay with it.

I agree with the essence of your post though I wonder if it is possible to have the skills/talent to be a medium without being aware on some level of how her actions would affect Kat. My suspicion is that the learning that needs to happen is how to apply those same skills/talents when her own feelings are involved. That and I think it's a wonderful way to showcase to her some of the consequences of her impulsiveness. She has to learn she can't just do stuff without thinking and expect everything to be okay and for everyone to be okay with it. Amen. Some of the most toxic people I've ever known have been those who believe it's their right to do whatever's easy/fun no matter what the consequences to their friends. Thankfully, it looks like Antimony is going to mature in a better direction.

Unless you mean the song lyric chain that I broke. I mean that when I asked what those boots were made for, I was in fact specifically invoking that song, and nothing else. It took me a moment to think of that because usually it means I've missed someone's post somewhere in the thread and accidentally ripped off their ideas, and it looked like you guys had reached the end of the chorus and stopped. Sorry about the chain but I wanted to discuss the comic a little more.

Nonetheless, responding to a joke post in a serious way was a bit silly.

Yennoe, something I've been wondering for a while is whether any similar 'break up' happened between Surma and Anja. It could explain why Annie never met Anja or Kat before coming to the Court. I mean, if Surma and Anja were still as close is it is portrayed they were during their school days, wouldnt Anja want to come see her friend before she died and say her goodbyes? And it is made fairly clear that Anja and the others all knew what was going on. Tom said somewhere that Surma broke off all contact with her friends when she left the Court. Anja didn't know of her death until she received Annie's transfer notification. also, I guess if Surma was mad at the court or something, maybe it had to do with Reynard being locked up? Or the fact that her efforts to help the court ended up with someone being killed? (by Rey, on accident, upon possession). I have a hard time beleiving that Rey would still have super love devotion feelings towards Surma (and her daughter) if Surma had been a part of the locking up of him. Unless they hid her involvement very very well.

Surma might have broken contact with Anja and her other friends so that they wouldn't have to witness Surma's decline in health and eventual death.
