Also, I know that this was probably just a typo in the haste to get OP, but it's you're* in the title of the thread. No no, that quote is from when Coyote was talking about the *mostly* human that Annie owns. She keeps it in her closet.

I'm sort of tickled by the fact that today's page once again answers a question without REALLY answering it.
It's not even that Coyote KNOWS. He just suspects. And what KIND of fire elemental? Oh, some manner.

Despite his Cheshire smile, I kinda get the sneaking suspicion Coyote IS pretty pissed being told that Renard had been tricked. His eyes look redder than usual, I swear!

Just noticed that Jones is nodding to Coyote saying that her father's influence has kept her calmer than her mother.

For some reason, the fact that Jones just nods in agreement is a little creepy. In character, but creepy, nonetheless.

So does that make Anthony's naturally cold nature a motivator for Surma? Maybe she was hoping to dillute the fire further with his personality ... somehow. Or just hoping that with a super-reserved dad Antimony wouldn't grow up getting overexcited and setting things on fire.

Sooo... does this mean that Surma often flew into rages that'd have made any rampaging monster proud of her? ;D

Another thought. Does anyone else know that Annie is descended from a fire elemental apart from Coyote and now Jones? I mean, does Elgamore, the Donlans and Anthony know where this whole thing started from?

I actually thought about that and left it out, largely because it would cast Surma in an extremely negative light. If that was the case and Annie (and Anthony) found out about it, she'd flip.

Quick Everyone speculate about what kind of elemental Jones is Earth elemental? What with her weight, strength and durability. She still quite strong for that, though. Maybe a titanium elemental?

Excuse me, I'm apparently a ditz tonight. Coyote almost certainly saw Annie's "outburst" on the bridge.
I wonder now if he's leading up to getting her to do it on command, rather than in anger.

I wonder if not regularly expressing that anger adds something to the fire elemental thing, so that she has equal or greater amounts of anger inside of her than Surma. Oh yeah, also she is a teen.

See beauty in flame, sure. But who's bright idea was it to try fuck it? Never mind that the man was apparently successful.
On a more relevant note, this still doesn't explain why no psychopomp came for Surma.

I wonder if the source of the fire in Annie and Surma is really that important to the story. I mean, it cound be phoenix ancestor or fire elemental ancestor or just some trait posessed by Annie's family. It turns out Annie is partially fire elemental... now what?

I did actually suggest something similar in this thread gunnerkrigg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1139&page=1 ... although there I was thinking Annie's dad was a safe alternative to the love triangle. So it could have been a combination - she couldn't have chosen between Eglamore and Reynard, and Annie's dad's detachment was a shelter from that and a way of controlling the temper of her daughter. Also, Annie being half an fire elemental sheds a new light on the rescuing the boy in chapter 16.

Coyote seems pretty interested in whether Annie sometimes has a bad temper.
A reminder; Coyote gave Annie a powerful weapon in the form of his tooth.
Another; Coyote has promised not to bother the Court, but was eager to give power to Renard, who hadn't made such a promise.
