Wow, nice catch with the telepathy lines, I feel silly not ever noticing those, but that's what this thread is for I guess! One neat thing I noticed about them is that in panel 3 here they're radiating out a bit before going towards Gamma, perhaps as well as indicating telepathy they're showing Zimmy's uncontrolled power radiating off her, which Gamma is helping to absorb and keep at a more manageable level. For a contribution, even though it's embarrassingly obvious now I just noticed that when he's scaring off the hecklers Reynardine's claws are made of lockpicks. Another neat thing I noticed in this one is that while Gamma looks pretty vulnerable in her stuffed-animal-pile, there is actually a defensive line of "plastic soldier" types forming a perimeter for her, and a book as well. Also in the visit to Sunny Birmingham, Annie manifests a most impressive etheric aura in panels 4 and 5 when she applies the "GOP effect" on one of the Nobodies. Looks very flame-like to me, has anybody seen this aura effect anywhere else? Maybe during her blinker stone use? Looking around a little I don't find anything that duplicates the curling flame effect here, but that was mostly checking for early blinker stone stuff. Maybe during etherium scenes? Interestingly the manifestation of this aura seems to be the necessary ingredient to "GOP" the fellow, I originally thought it was skin contact but Annie can be seen clearly holding hands with Fake Kat in the last panel here, and Gamma has a nice swirly aura going when she puts the GOP on Fake Kat. Jeez, this comic is so cool. I am continually impressed!

I remember someone pointed out that when Zimmy and Gamma are in the library, they surround their chair with a circle of books. This is a bit similar, isn't it? I wonder what it does.

Oooh! I just noticed something really cool. I already mentioned this in the Wild Speculation thread, so sorry if it's redundant. The man Reynardine possesses is wearing a green suit, the likes of which are commonly worn by Gunnerkrigg teachers. Here's the man: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=497And here are Donald and Eglamore in their same green suits: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=275So he may have been a teacher. But he wasn't. He was the Court's then present medium! Something I'd never thought about before; the man Reynardine possessed is crossing the bridge over Annan waters in the picture (you can tell from the lights). There is clearly a tree on the side he's coming from, meaning he is walking from Gillitie Forest back to the Court. The man Reynardine possessed was the Court's medium before Surma! No one else would've had permission to go into the forest, and besides, how could Reynardine leave the court and possess someone undetected? His possessee had to come to him. His formal green suit, as worn by the teachers when Coyote and Yesengrin come to visit, supports this, as visiting the Wood would've been a formal occassion. Before Surma? That doesn't quite make sense, as he met Surma before he decided to go woo her, so Surma had to have crossed into the forest first. I'm starting to think this should go into a new thread, but if I missed a detail and the new thread discussion would only be 3 posts long, then I'd rather not create a brand new thread for it.

rageboy, the theory got fleshed out a little more in the Wild Speculation thread, as it seemed a more appropriate place, so I didn't think a separate post necessary.

Sup, I'm new. Love the comic obviously. Anyway, I was rereading the archive yesterday (cause I have that kind of time) and I noticed something. Now that we know about Jack's spider-related problems check out the background of panels 3 &4 to this comic: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=465. I don't know if this should belong in the speculation thread or not but if that silhouette is who I think it is then two things. 1) Tom's a bigger genius than I thought, and 2) no wonder the kid's so off. In the panels it looks like, in addition to the bugs, there's something bigger (w/ a lot of legs) off to the side that's coming at him, and in panel 4 it looks like he's having a complete freak-out. Talk about nightmare fuel, especially with help like 2 feet away and not paying any attention to you.

Could it be that Jack, in fact, is behind that window, and in panel #3 is being harrassed by some bloke with a spider, while in #4 he's being attacked by lots of people at once?

I wonder if that centipede-ish thing in panel 3 of the aforementioned page is at all related to the Tingler.

I'd never noticed the figure in the window behind Kat before... Zimmy's city just took a whole new level of terrifying for me.
And if it is Jack... well no wonder the guy is so messed up. Seriously creeped out over here.

Was re-reading Power Station after that find by occasionalexister and noticed [460]: Annie's purple make-up is running down the corners of her eyes after being in the rain. [461]: Above Zimmy's head in panel 4 is silhouette of what looks like someone about to beat someone else over the head. Eek. [467]: The number 113 is spelled out in wooden planks on the floor in the fourth panel This thread was such a good idea, it is really making me realise how much effort and detail Tom puts into every page!

This thread is terrifying.
I can just see that in another month Tom will introduce some new plot point to the comic, and then we'll have people going back to read earlier chapters and realizing IT WAS THERE ALL ALONG.
I came here to post about the army surrounding Gamma but was beaten, then I had my mind blown by the telepathic squigglies between her and Zimmy. The wooden plank 113 is even creepier.
Power Station is a good chapter for this kind of thing.

More and more, I just think that the 113 phenomena isn't actually anything, just Tom messing with us forum folks.

More and more, I just think that the 113 phenomena isn't actually anything, just Tom messing with us forum folks. Yeah, I agree. Given that it crops up in completely disconnected places e.g. written out in wooden planks in a nightmare world that isn't even real, AND on a numbering plaque for some underground guttering, I think it must be some kind of easter egg. It's still fun to keep an eye out for though.

I think that may just be the other side of the bridge leading into the ravine, not a tree. But you're right about the young man crossing the bridge at the time! [440] The 'chapter' ends with a red exclamation point instead of the traditional chapter ending symbol.

There's another thread for 113. There's so many occurrences, that it's best not to crowd this one. There's enough stuff here without it.

In [204], Kat's demonstration sentence to show how Shadow2 talks is "Hello Annie". In [621], Annie's demonstration sentence to show how the blinker stone can create messages is "Hello Kat".

On the cover page for Coyote Stories: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=475The figure with the long brown arm is supposed to be Ysengrin, while the bulky one with all the swords towards the bottom is Eglamore. It took a little while to figure out that the one with the red head is Annie!

It took a little while to figure out that the one with the red head is Annie! By the same token–and on the same page–I first thought there was a halo above Annie's head, but it's a seed much like the ones Ysengrin left. On the opposite shore(that of the forest,) a gear, perhaps the Tic Toc. Any thoughts on the arrow in the middle of the river-depiction?

No, not a seed, an eye like the ones the shadow men are standing on. Perhaps someone's watching over her, and maybe that's her father? Or maybe it's Coyote, or it could be tied with Reynardine.. or the Tic-Tocs. Okay, I'm all lost now. Edit: Oh yeah. Thanks to Judgedeadd who collected the Ultimate Listing of Comic Episode Threads, I was easily able to find the thread where we discussed this title page in depth. So anyone who's interested in more details that people noticed can check here: gunnerkrigg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=469

I think it probably is a seed; a seed planted in the Court by Ysengrin, then on the opposite side, a gear planted in the Woods by the Tic Toc's body- a good little duality. Perhaps the arrow indicates the direction the river flows?

I don't know. It could very easily be something as simple as that, but Tom seems to revel in poking symbolism &c. into every nook he can. It could be the direction of the river, but I wouldn't discount something clever either. Unless there's been word on high, I'm definitely more inclined to see a seed there, despite the general census. My supposition is no more valid than anyone else's, but it's mine, dammit.
