Page 264, Panel 6, no doubt..., speech bubble colour is Anja's, sarcastic tone sounds like James.

Hair is significant, but Kat got her haircut after Paz helped her work through her emotions. She wasn't angry, frustrated, or depressed when she got her haircut.

Coyote's actions often involve a little prescience. (Possibly because he hangs on the wall by Tom's work desk. ;-) On this page, Coyote is farewelling the Rabbit by making a few mildly snarky remarks about the human world to which it is headed. In response, Annie quips that, at least, they can teach it responsibility. To which Coyote barks: "HaHaHa! Responsibility! A fine word, and one of the last you will learn as a human." Annie tartly retorts "Let's not be biased, Coyote." What is interesting about this simple little exchange is that the very by-word for responsibility, Tony Carver, is dropped into Annie's world in the next chapter.

Bit more meta than usual, but going through some old threads I noticed this that was posted back in December. Those depictions don't appear in the comic until the next September, nine months later.Damn that's a huge buffer.

That's the only image in the post linked... On most forums, those are updated across the boards when someone changes their avatar. So ... I dunno, Matoyak confused.

I think he's confirmed a buffer of around three months, and that spoiler was a one-off automation glitch? That being said, concept art or not that was still three months before Anthony even showed up, the comic was still on the ship and he'd already planned as far ahead as the current chapter.

Yeah, but even for concept art that's still really far in advance for... well, most projects except maybe like, AAA games and the like, but webcomics in particular. Impressive either way.

Tom (by last report) only has the second-thickest buffer I know of for a webcomic. The lady who does Carry On finished uploading this year's comics to her server late last year if I remember correctly, and then a few months ago she changed the schedule from doing three daily-newspaper-style strips a week to doing three *pairs* a week, and loaded up the server a few months into next year. Considering the number of webcomics I read where the author-artist has given up any pretense of even having a schedule...

Considering the number of webcomics I read where the author-artist has given up any pretense of even having a schedule... There were some webcomics that died that I would check back regularly just to see what the excuse this time was. Some of them were occasionally more clever than the comic that wasn't there. Was even considering listing a few of my fave WebExcuses in the "what other webcomics do you read" thread but I thought it would be cruel and/or off-topic, and also the update schedule of the excuses is sometimes erratic and tends to become more so as time goes on. Since my backordered churchill maduros came in I have again become less likely to be cruel.

Was even considering listing a few of my fave WebExcuses in the "what other webcomics do you read... Do proceed... String Theory *cough*, Dresden Codak *cough cough*. Total hit'n'miss. Let's see what do we have, Mr Grundy first: tumblr: silent, twitter: active but no mention of the comic. Then what about the old faithful, Aaron Diaz: "I was all worked up and full of energy but then - neck injury". I still love and respect both artists, god bless RSS.

Let's see what do we have, Mr Grundy first: tumblr: silent, twitter: active but no mention of the comic. Then what about the old faithful, Aaron Diaz: "I was all worked up and full of energy but then - neck injury". I still love and respect both artists, god bless RSS. Diaz is circling this drain but isn't in there and I doubt he will be for a long time. Also he doesn't really bother making clever excuses; he just makes announcements. Then other announcements that replace/contradict previous announcements. I don't want to name names but there's a few on Drunk Duck. One shout-out to a long-dead one where the author drew herself under a rock with insect/crab claws in her "my comic died" obit. Maybe as a compromise I'll generate a thread on the worst time I was trolled or something. The best WebExcuses, and I say this with affection and no trace of sadism, are the people who underestimate the time commitment that having a webcomic takes and manage for a while, accumulate a small fan base, and then some life event happens (usually a semester starts/ends or they move or lose/gain employment) where they are no longer able to continue the comic. And once they stop making the comic they, now understanding how much work it was, procrastinate starting again. That's when you get the regular updates of "my compy is sick, my cat threw up, the dog ate my homework, my best friend's gay*, my house burned down, my car blew up, my boss is a jerk**, my sister's wedding is a mess, I dumped/got dumped," etc. But then fan emails come in and they feel guilty and start up again. Then quit again. After a while the good excuses are used up but they want to update their comic/site so that people will keep checking back, so they start improvising or upping the ante with bigger and more bizarre excuses: "My compy threw up, my cat burned down, my best friend ate my homework, my dog is gay, my house is a jerk, my sister's wedding my boss, I messed in my car, my exbfs/exgfs are all dating each other" etc. so obviously the update will be late/nonexistent.*** After hearing all sorts of excuses that impact my own life it's just nice to hear some that don't. *About the "my best friend's gay" one and all its variations, I sometimes heard it as a TA but was bound to professors' rules about handing in things late and couldn't ask about any excuse (or accept any excuse past a certain date). I have often pictured someone breaking into someone else's dorm and gaying all over a term paper. **Often the boss is a jerk by insisting that the comic not be worked on while the author is on the clock (getting paid for doing something that is not drawing comics). ***According to anecdotal evidence, web cartoonists have higher injury rates than lumberjacks and pro football players combined.

For some reason, he has a link to his email on every single page. Also for some reason, the tooltip for that link is the date the page was posted. ( ) The calendar's just the one that comes with the system dragged over to the browser window, so nothing fancy. We could start a thread: "Cool things someone else noticed at first read." So... this thread, then?

Better go Full-Meta and create "Cool things I noticed on rereading the Cool things thread". One step more and the Internets implode.

www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=397 Donny holding the newspaper upside down. I can't understand how I missed that before. And the label sticking out of Kat's shirt, Tom must have had fun making this page.
