We know that there was no clear choice of medium until Annie came along (although "she" from [1096] could still mean Parley or someone else). Despite being knowledgable and objective enough to train Annie as a medium, Jones did not replace Surma as the medium herself.
We'll soon know why =)

Well, we sort of know already. For one, she has some incompatibilities with the ether. For two, as a medium, she'd have to represent the Court for the Forest and vice-versa. It seems that she wants to remain as a neutral party, however. Why she wants this is still unclear.

This may be just wild speculation here, but I do think that Ysengrin may have lost his ear to a binding of Coyote's www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=829It just seems strange that the last panel of the page focuses on his face, missing ear and all, and then is immediately followed by Tom's comment of Ysengrin seeing a binding like that before. Who knows? I like it =) The ear was lost all the way back the first time we see him in tree form at the Court in [272]. We shall see. =D What is that book?? Also, someone needs to put forty boxbots in that cart. I mean, it even has "and that is terrible in it" xDD

Also in 439, I must have skimmed through it the first time, but I never realized it was Jim Surma was talking about! I thought they were talking about Anthony.

=D What is that book?? Also, someone needs to put forty boxbots in that cart. I mean, it even has "and that is terrible in it" xDD It comes from The Super Dictionary released like back in the 70s I think. It's basically a children's vocabulary book with unintentionally hilarious results. There's other funny pages out there, but that may be another thread for another time.

=D What is that book?? Also, someone needs to put forty boxbots in that cart. I mean, it even has "and that is terrible in it" xDD It has already been done by mithrandir back in 2009. The image link was dead so here's a re-up: Also, this: Fun fact: Both of them were done before Tom made page 940.

Maybe he got inspired by the joke and decided to do his own spin on it?

Ha! It's the completely out of context assertations like that that I like so much about this forum.

Out of context is the only way to go really. I like those lines because they make sense in context but with a little hindsight, you can shake them up for a whole new comment.

In "Sky Watcher and the Angel," the robots put the engineering symbol for "ground" over the entrance to Jeanne's tomb. In a bit of a stealth pun, she's buried under "ground."

In that case I think "sacred ground" as seen under nnelg's avatar is a better one.

You know, I had to dig through the list of forums users to find that one avatar. And yep, I can see that as making Jeanne buried in sacred "ground".
Hah. Ground: where electricity goes to die.

#981: "He is unique." Did Jones feel a bit of kinship there?

Oh dang, I always end up getting these things wrong. Thanks for the clarification seaofalchemy! Yep, no worries, steelpanther. Besides, it was kinda hard to tell who was talking in the page you provided (below). Like, if Janet was speaking or Winsbury was. There weren't any speech bubbles pointing to who was speaking. And the red arrows added to the confusion, so I can understand how you were mistaken.

If you look really close, though, you'll notice the speech bubbles are tinted different colors. (If you've got an LCD screen, tilting the monitor a bit might help.)
Tom actually does this for many of the major characters, but sadly Janet's and Will's chat bubbles aren't tinted other than on this one page, adding to the confusion.

In the comic where Annie approaches Jones' room to ask "the question" - There are leaves on the ground. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=1095Where did they come from? I thought the Court chopped down all trees - the only ones are in special rooms/preserves.

There are a few trees left, but probably planted long after the original clear-cut following the schism 'twixt the Court and the Woods. See the first panel of this page for an example: www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=360

On my first read-through, I assumed the arrow in this page was just to show the direction of the river's flow...

Now I wonder what the gear on the Forest's side, under Ysengrin's arm represents... I would think it's the area where the robot bird took a turn for the worst and started to get all wonky with the land. The opposite side symbol being Jeanna's territory.
