What if... what if Shadow People can't actually take over robots, but only living things/things with a "connection to the aether" like the dog-shaped root from "Ties". That would explain why Ysengrin had to plant the seed in Robots body, I mean, he could have had the Shadowman take control over Robot as soon as he met him. Why give him the arm first? And it could also explain why the Shadows in the court didn't just snatch Boxbot to escape without being noticed.

I don't think they'd be able to stand living inside his boxy little frame. I imagine that there is one pair of circuits inside, connecting a single triple-a battery to a black box with the words "terrible" written on it in highlighter, and nothing else.

I think that might be coincidence. I see two detached teeth in that panel anyway. Also other things like his eyeball are popping out, it's pretty abstract.

It's true that the skull on the right has two teeth, and part of the jaw, detaching into the tooth-stream thinger. And those bits do look abstract. But the skull on the left just has one solitary detached tooth, realistically drawn. It should be from the opposite side and the top instead of the jaw... but it is the right shape. And it is detached and hovering.

It should be from the opposite side Clearly Coyote has undergone a sprite flip.

It doesn't count if Red wasn't there to hear it (or maybe someone else to tell her about it). If you mean it was Kat's idea, for all we know Annie was the first one to refer to her this way.

Hopefully this hasn't been mentioned in the 30 previous pages... www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=338Annie's first meeting with Muut, she says "father said she is leaving tommorow", implying that Anthony already knows that Mrs. Tolikna will die that night.

I would assume he has made it his business to know all about his wife's etheric side. Perhaps that's why he dislikes the etheric sciences, as Jones mentioned, he believes it took his wife from him. (He's still an arsehole in my book)

But would even Surma's etheric side know when the Guides will come for people? You might be able to guess based on physical clues, but down to the exact night? I still think it's a little improbable.

It could also imply that Mrs. Tolikna died earlier that day, and Anthony stopped Annie from visiting Tolikna by saying that she's leaving instead of telling a little girl "she's dead". We don't really know the time period that guides show up in, Annie learning languages from them implies that they stay a few days at least, while Muut clearly only shows up the same day. Plus we don't know if they show up before or after death for certain. We never actually see one show up before.

Is it part of her job as a medium, or is it something more? Did her mother have this duty as well?

I would assume that status as 'Medium' is a kind of arbitrator. That seems like what is happening with the Court and the Forest, and it seems like the guides looked to Surma for the same job.

Annie skooshing the ant leads me to believe that they show up only after death. The Psychopomps may have just stuck around for her sake, or maybe it some times takes time to "gather" what they need. Humans may be different.
Or what Georgie said... they just stop time.

I noticed on this page that Jeanne with her hair up looks an awful lot like Jones. Might just be coincidence or just me, though... Could Jones's body be Jeanne's soul stripped? Did Wandering Eye possess Jeanne's body? Insufficient data.

Maybe it's been pointed out, I only skimmed the thread. but here www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=891 you see Robot's eyes turn red when he goes hostile. It sort of felt like a reference to Bioshock maybe. Other than this time, has he ever gotten angry?

The eyes of other Court robots have been shown to change colours depending on context.

When I first started reading this webcomic, I only followed two or three others. So all of the webcomic references on this page were lost on me. :3 It's wonderful! Edit: Also Tom's note at the bottom of this page is "ZimmyXJack " with a link to a page that says "More like ShutxUp." But then he reveals later in the comic that Jack has feelings for her! Hah.

Re-reading a chapter or two at the moment, and I noticed that in the fourth panel there's Diego and the guy from the third panel here. (Who is identified in 585 as Sir Young, protector of the court) So those two were at the meeting between the court and the forest. Makes you wonder what the meeting was like. "Stop sleeping with our women!" "Yeah? Well stop sleeping with our green guys!" "Hmmph, let's never be friends again!" EDIT: also, the blue of the background is the same blue as when Coyote paused time to threaten Annie.

Upon rereading www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=607: the laser cows won't clear the grass around Sir Young's monument "for some reason"? -- It's because they were made by Diego, who we all know, is pretty much the opposite of Young's biggest fan.
