Given that there will be 14 roles to vote on in Round 3, will we still have to do one big ballot, or can we send in chapter ballots, for example?

Well... hm. I'm still going to tally the votes and announce the results as one, so, I think it would be easier on me to have all the votes in one PM still.

Friends and neighbors, we have received 14 votes thus far. We need more before we'll be satisfied that we've taken a representative sample of the group's opinion. Seriously, please send in your votes.
To all the people who voted in Round 1 but who haven't voted in Round 2, and to all the people who didn't vote in Round 1 for whatever reason... please vote!

I just voted. Sorry it took me so long.
I'd like to share my opinion on some of the auditions, just in case anyone is having trouble deciding like I was. Also I'm bored and feel like praising the amazing performances I just listened to.
As I said before, I loved Casey's Eglamore. Every other audition sounded so forced, as if they were trying very hard to give Eglamore a TOUGH, MANLY MAN voice. Casey's voice makes Eglamore into a reserved, intellectual human being, who also happens to be a badass. I think he can make Eglamore into the endearing character he's meant to be.
Concerning Reynardine, I must honest, I didn't really like any of the auditions that much, if only because none of the voices fit the image of Renard in my head. p13volution's plushie Reynardine was the only plushie Reynardine I liked, but Count Casimir's Sivo voice was definitely the best in my opinion. This was a really tough choice for me. I don't like any of the voices "as is" but I think the person I voted for can do a good job in the end.
All of the Morts sounded identical to me, but goatmon's and reyo's in particular stood out. They have the perfect voices for Mort, and both read their lines quite well. Goatmon clearly has experience with this, but reyo (and Acherus too, actually) both have very fitting voices. Another tough choice.
Obviously I voted for myself for the Spanish Clown. My intention was to imitate the Faun from Pan's Labyrinth. I think that scene needs to be as menacing as all hell, so that's what I went for.
And then both Janets were pretty good. I couldn't decide.

Casey would have gotten my vote if we had seen more range out of him. Honestly, you can't judge the potential of a character who is pretty much an action hero as well as a teacher when all you hear from him is one scene as a teacher... And none of him in any dangerous situations. We can see that he can emote a little in his voice, but a role like this requires more than that.
I'm not saying anyone in particular did better in that regard, I'm just saying that he could have easily earned my vote if we had seen some of that "dragon slayer".

If I had had time...
Of course I did say in my video notes that it was a conscious decision to do a different scene and show a different side of the character. I do accept that that was a calculated risk.

And none of him in any dangerous situations. We can see that he can emote a little in his voice, but a role like this requires more than that. Eh, by the same logic, you can't judge the potential of a character who is by and large a mentor and friend when all you've got is a few lines of a forced MANLY MAN voice. Like I said, none of the other auditions were even convincing or realistic for me in that aspect, so I don't think they could handle Eglamore's human side either. I guess in general there are some auditions where I "hear" some guy sitting in front of their computer altering their voice to fit a character, and then I hear some auditions where the natural voice of the character can just come through. There are some auditions here that have been able to do that with some characters and not with others. Eglamore in particular is a very down to earth and average guy (in relation to some other characters), so hiking your voice up with feigned bravado isn't showing me much more than the fact that you can hike your voice up with feigned bravado. Edit: Wait, why are you justifying your vote? You auditioned for the role yourself. Voting for yourself isn't a bad thing .

Exactly, I was saying that if he could have showed some more range, he could have easily convinced me not to vote for myself. I mean, I'm not an egomaniac... I don't think I have the best voice for every role.

2) For each contest on the ballot, please indicate your first choice, followed by your second choice, etc for all contestants in that contest. If there are any contestants you do not like at all even for your last place, please indicate so on your ballot. No one will see the comments on your ballot but Yin (sli) and Casey. I don't understand the point of putting down a second choice though. Wouldn't the person who was voted the second most automatically be the second choice?

Casey has a good point there :/.

Only 30 hours remain until voting ends, and yet only 15 people have voted this week so far. Maybe I overestimated how interested people were in this project? Really, only 15 people of all the folks here want to give their opinion and have a part in deciding these roles? Boy, this project sure is going to be a lot of work, to only have 15 people interested in it. Yes, this is me giving the "hard sell".

Perhaps a points system would work. Then in the example Casey created, Person D wouldn't get it just because he was the only other person ranked first. Persons B and C would get more points than him because they were consistently higher in the rankings. That seems a fairer way of doing it to me, although it might take a bit more time, possibly. It would be like Eurovision, but with less politics That's on Saturday, by the way. I'm looking forward to it.

The way that we have it set up now, it lets us literally go back and look at the ballots as if the first person weren't even on the ballot. If your number one choice drops out, then your number two become your number one. If the drop out was your number two, then your number three becomes your number two but your number one remains your number one. That's why the system works the best. As I've said, I've got you all covered. Now get people to vote!!

There is now just under 24 hours left to get your votes in. Guess how many people voted in the last six hours? Go on, guess!
Just one.
Yeah, that's depressing.
Hey, here's another point of interest. I counted the names of seven people who have not voted, whose names are ON THE BALLOT! What, you guys aren't even motivated enough to vote for yourselves? I'm frightened.
Unless we get 10 more votes in the next 24 hours, we won't even have as many votes tallied as Round 1 got. Even though there are more roles on this ballot. Very strange.

Five hours left to vote, and I could name a dozen people off the top of my head that I would have expected would have voted. Come on guys! If there is some reason why you're not voting, could you at least send me a PM and let me know?

Well, without further ado, here are your Round 2 winners! James Eglamore: CaseyReynardine: FuzzyOneMort the Ghost: EdzeppEvil Spanish Clown: XanBcooJanet: PeachikeenCongratulations to the winners! Please report to the Vocal Production Thread to pick up your "info packet" and get started! The ballot has been updated to reflect the third round of voting. It is going to be our final round of voting for a while, with the exception of casting "Tea". You are going to see me start to spend more time on production than managing the elections. I'm going to try to get Yin to keep you guys updated and encouraged on the voting side for this final round. I also want you all to notice that, due to feedback saying that it made the voting process harder, I have REMOVED the requirement to decide on any other than your first choice. The details are posted in the first post of this thread, but in a nutshell, it's back to the way it was in Round 1. PLEASE VOTE!

We're slowly getting there, hooray!

I have to admit, the results surprise me... But at the same time they don't. I'm sad I didn't get Reynardine, but in the end... I feel like I'm missing the valuable life lesson this was supposed to teach me

Hey guys, this is a reminder that I should have put up before the last round of voting. When you're voting, don't take into consideration the audio quality of the recording, because that will be fixed before the actual lines are recorded. As I've said before, take into consideration only whether you think the voice and actor are right for the part. I mention this because I did get a couple of comments about audio quality, and that, as I said, won't be a factor in the end.

I'm really happy with the way things turned out. Not all my picks got their roles, but I'm quite happy with it overall. I think p13volution's Reynardine was amazing, but Fuzzyone will do a great job I'm sure. Personally I am sad I did not get Basil. But life goes on. Your avatar fits so well with this comment.

Wow, Meagan and peachikeen's voices are so similar, especially on the Red Fairy audition. How bizarre. I think Meagan plays it with a little bit more energy, but other than that they're nearly identical.
Gonna have to mull over some of the choices for this round. Good job everybody.

That is strange, Bisected8. I just checked the link both here in the Voting Thread and the one in the Auditions page, and they both worked for me. Is anyone else having this problem? It is a link directly to the mp3 file of her audition. Here is a link to the directory that that file resides in, along with the same audition in other formats. I'll post it here for you and if anyone else reports they are having problems with the original link I'll swap the links. ia301528.us.archive.org/2/items/GunnerkriggCourtAuditionSurmaChapterS1/

The link to the directory works, the link to the file itself on the main page and in the directroy still come up with the error message. Although I've just found that saving the file rather than opening it seems to work and the file plays from my harddrive without any problems.
I don't know what's going on with that, but I'll resubmit my ballot for 7) in a moment.

Hi! It is Tuesday, and we have amassed 8 votes so far. That's not bad and not good... it's about what I would have figured given last week. But I want to see more votes! In case you missed it, you only have to vote for your #1 person... I took the hard work out of it so now you have no excuse for not voting! Please?
