She also wears the same hospital clothes, it seems, and the blanket has the same color as it did on that page.
EDIT: I looked for other appeareances of Surma in the hospital to see if it could be a deliberate call-back to that specific page, and indeed she was depicted with different clothes in "A Ghost Story", but appears the same on this page, so probably no visual reference to a specific previous event. |

...and maybe the reason Annie is seeing her mum is that the Zimms is sort of diffused thru everyone here, so she's part of Annie too. Zimmy (looking thru Annie's eyes) sees Gamma, but Annie sees her Gamma "analog" - Surma.

I kind of doubt gamma knew annie would see her mom but she obviously knew whatever they were going to see a) wouldn't be her and b)wouldnt be helpful.
I wonder if zimmy sees the same thing.

Of course, Annie knows better than anyone alive (I doubt she chatted about Surma with Gamma, for that matter) that it's just an image from her memory. Now her reaction is really unpredictable. Maybe it is just this: Annie sees her "Gamma equivalent", the person she would (if she could) turn to for ultimate love, comfort, protection and support. Maybe, since Zimmy is "lost". But the first time they did both see Gamma, so Annie is unlikely to believe this. Oh, I hope this doesn't do Renard's head in. Also this. |

This isn't really Surma, and I'm sure the Annies know it and would normally act accordingly. But if ZimSurma treats Courtnie differently, the way Tony does, will that cause conflict and division? It might be a way of dividing the Annies, using issues they brought with them. |
