well i mean it could be like a ghost knife and maybe the damage is spiritual let me hope futilely So is the sword. Which cut cameras in half. But left only an invisible wound on Annie. Though we know Jeanne was doing in anything up to psychopomps. Ha ha ha who am I kidding. RIP Smitty, 2017 decided to make you his first victim. Also, an angry fencer ghost lady is dangerous enough... now she will become dual boss with angry elf zombie/ghoul. I think our party needs a few more levels before they can tackle this. The party is about to go TILTOWAIT. Because freaked out Annie isn't a piece of cotton candy either. Also, friend of mine thinks the fairies are looking at something off-screen. If he's right I hope it's Eglamore or Jones or both. T-T It could very well be the remains of the Elf, for all we know. :/ Assuming they don't look at Jeanne and just drawn this way, they look to the left of her. The elf is under/behind the boat, which is to the right. Smitty is definitely wearing something under that hoodie that's capable of blocking a sword. And what this would be, given that neither literally grim reapers nor whatever alloys last S13 is made of managed to resist? Also, the dagger plunged in, not bounced. Is it the only site more ridiculously rotten than reddit these days? 1. Smitty has his super luck lucky luckiness that helps him be super all the time lucky in a lot of ways! Ways which are, to say the least, extremely statistically improbable! Yes. And we have seen how it happens. But since Jeanne cut his web and stabbed before he could replace it one more time, this time his "luck" had very little wiggle room. Though not completely off the table.

Smitty could come back as a ghost, I suppose.
...and I think of the fact that it is a spiritual wound at the last moment. You know something's deadly when it kills your ghost.

Not to mention that the Court, if it really became displeased with Annie and Kat, would be more likely to lock them up (where they could be safely watched over) rather than expel them (after which, they'd be out there doing who knows what and the Court would be living in constant fear of that). Though an imprisoned Annie and Kat wouldn't be able to do much, either, which would again raise the question of how to continue the story from there, short of a few hundred pages of them doing homework in their cells. I doubt it would be so simple. Coyote wouldn't take it kindly to his medium being locked up. The Court would have to try some kind of measure against Coyote (which would probably fail miserably), not to mention Anthony Carver, Donald and Anja Donlan and Eglamore mounting a rescue mission, Zimmy trying something on her own, the robots declaring a Holy War to release their Angel, the Psychopomps working with the Realm of the Dead to rescue them, or God Machine Elohim Kat releasing her true power and going Old Testament on the Court. Also, does the Court even have a way to confine Annie's etheric body?

Has Tom ever played by the trope-book, though? He's certainly used tropes, how could he not, he's trying to write a coherent story. But he seldom writes in a formulaic fashion. The forum seems pretty calm in these for days of Smitty's limbo. I'm pretty calm myself seeing a million ways out of this, still. But if the next page shows even a drop of blood I'll go crazy over here.

Also, does the Court even have a way to confine Annie's etheric body? Depends how much of Diego's stuff they still have access to, because Diego had a way to confine Annie's (and the elf's) etheric body. It's unclear how much of his technology they have, though. On the one hand, it appears that nobody has been able to recreate his robots (with the partial exception of Kat now). On the other hand, a lot of his papers appear to be still lying around in various places. So it's possible that something similar to the arrow still exists. Oh, and: the court does have ways of confining Renard. Possibly that could be generalized.

Objection, look at panel 2 in the first link you posted. Why? That's still just his left hand. unbalanced still has a point. Oops, sorry, mistook the pants for the skul, which flipped the angle of the panel.

Yup, I need to see blood before I worry. Point against not worrying: the dagger is definitely still physically interacting with his sweater.

I'm unsurprised at the popular theory that Jeanne can only do "etheric" damage to Smitty, but I'm rather amazed nobody has used this page yet to try and disprove it. I mean, call me a skeptic, but I'm not really going to buy any claims that Robot was only SPIRITUALLY ripped into several pieces. And no, I'm not buying the hope that disabling the arrow also made Jeanne slowly become non-corpooreal. Her sword made a quite resounding " Clang!" just a few seconds ago. The only straw I can see to grasp at right now is the hope that they'll suddenly have a way to heal Smitty, very soon. Well, that and the fact that there's no blood. But damnit, I just shot down the only two explanations for that.
