I like to imagine that when this Mr. Carver turns around, we will be treated to not Anthony's face, but to Handsome Squidward's.

You want to know *which* trade? Maybe not, but let's just say it adds a new level of understanding to Sweeney Todd. There's a reason the Royal College of Surgeons was known as the Company of Barber-Surgeons for 300 years. Mr. Carver, indeed. Just realised that Tom may have been trailing a bit of nominative determinism in front of us. Attend the tale of Carver's Dad. His face was pale, his eye was mad. He was object of Brinnie's yen, who never thereafter was heard from again. T. Carver. A. Carver's Dad. The Demon Father of Kat's mate.(- With apologies to Sondheim, and the rest of you)

Hear from doesn't always literally mean hearing I think? Are you suggesting that he's not going to say anything for the entire period, leaving the students to simply sit there in awkward silence until the bell rings? Because that'd be pretty awesome.

Hear from doesn't always literally mean hearing I think? Dunno, that was Tom's comment for the page. Oh hey, I went looking for the thread for that page (I keep forgetting about our index, dah!) and found this post by Tom.

So I was shuffling through the archives for a video I'm working on, and I came across this page: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=414in which it seems that Anja has not been told beforehand by Anthony or anyone else who would know that one of her closest friends had died... these people aren't big on sharing. It makes it seem more possible that they might not have been told about this either. (From Anthony's perspective, it could be that sending Annie to Gunnerkrigg was his way of breaking the news. And his way of breaking the news of his arrival would be... by showing up.)

So... you're asking if this is the guy who apparently tried to murder Annie a few chapters back, and would have succeeded if Zimmy hadn't interfered? I'ma go with a solid "maybe." Did not try to murder her. I think he's an asshole, but not a kinslayer. Annie was having emotional issues with her dad being absent, right after her phone conversation with him in Chapter 35 (almost said episode 5... weird...). Zimmy went into the Ether and figured out, not only that her condition was related to her father's impact on her, but try and break the connection in a way that Annie would be able to get over him. This is Gunnerkrigg Court, not Crusader Kings 2. Zimmy believed that he was doing something to her, and the bones she saw sticking out of her and going up into the sky were coming from fire-elemental Annie: the part that Mr. Carver would be most interested in doing things to.

I mean that it could mean many ways of getting back in contact: it could be hearing from him/about him but also seeing him for a first time in a while. That's what I think, I could be wrong and the meaning could be literally.

Trees. Apples do not fall far from them. Could easily apply to both Kat and Annie, from what I've seen. Along with the icon of the planet, I wonder if we're going to see ANTHONY this chapter. GUNNERCOOKIES! I posted another thread about this, but... what if Anthony is actually an assassin / secret agent? One of those transgendred clones of Annie's mom sent back in time to act as spies? So... you're asking if this is the guy who apparently tried to murder Annie a few chapters back, and would have succeeded if Zimmy hadn't interfered? Error: Insufficient horizontal velocity of spoon-bait. I thought we established that it was a magic dress. Made by the same seamstress that made the blue/black/white/gold dress. Tom's a man ahead of his time It is the Gunnerkrigg Court, and "mad scientist tailor" sounds like fun. What unzap cat? I am also willing to bet that Eglamore punches Tony at some point during this chapter for turning up like this. Unlikely, given his own history of interaction with Annie. Zimmy believed that he was doing something to her, and the bones she saw sticking out of her and going up into the sky were coming from fire-elemental Annie: the part that Mr. Carver would be most interested in doing things to. Translation: after actively looking for evidence, this idea appears to have something that can pass as somehow-related "proof" if you squint very hard. Which in itself is established about as firmly as "Kat wears some pigeon as a hat".
