Ok. A bit contrived, but a little more original than 'another Mr. Carver'. It would also explain the class whispers as people recognize the name appearing on the board.

Has Anthony been shown to be left-handed? right hand holding fork which normally means right handed. Is that a fork? If so, he's holding it like an American. Which seems odd. I guess a left-handed European might hold his fork in his right hand … But I prefer to think it's a spork.  |

Annie's face has a LOT of tension in it, although it is normal for kids to mutter and wonder about any new teacher so that part could be a red herring, they may not be talking about her/her dad at all.

Normally you'd use fork in your left hand and knife in your right, if you're right-handed. Anthony isn't holding a knife in that page, but he might have just set it down or is meticulous enough to follow the "rules" even when he's holding just one utensil. I don't know what to say, what to speculate. I really doubt that this'd be just a lookalike, but why would a guy like Anthony suddenly become a teacher, let alone at the Court? Questions, questions, and it's a damn Friday update, too!  |

I don't think it's Anthony. his hairline and jaw are differently shaped I would agree with you, if there wasn't this little incident back in Divine. Look closely at Anthony's arm. Note how emaciated it looks? We all know Surma's death hit him really hard. That kind of emotional trauma can have a very physical impact. He's changed. |

I vote not Anthony Carver, but I admit that I think he's enough of a douche that he might just show up in class without contacting Annie first. Or maybe it is more accurate to say, Tom has set him up to seem like a douche to the readers so the inevitable reveal will have more impact. He probably will just show up, but I don't think it will be as a member/employee of the Court.
EDIT: Maybe it is Anthony's vat grown clone...

The exact quote is "And so did I wait for word from my father. Unaware that I would not hear from him for over two years." That was at the end of year 7, this is the start of year 10, so it would be 2 years and a few months. I am sure it is him, and on Monday we will get him asking the class a question and just treating Annie like any of the other students. I will assume we will also get Annie storming out at some point as well and getting detention for it. Did Donnie, Anja and Eglamore know he was coming back? Surely one of them would have told Annie if they knew. Why has he come back? Because he has heard Annie is the new Forest Medium and thinks this is a terrible idea? Because he thinks that in order to save her from the fire elemental thing he needs to be near her to conduct tests? |
