You're a wizard, Katerina Donlan!
Kat's never had etheric abilities before, though these probably belong to some degree to Zimmy as well. I am excited. So very, very excited. It's not too late to join the Cult and be spared in the inevitable robot revolution. Repent! Link (remove spaces): gunnerkrigg.proboards .com/thread/2034/theory-kat-robots-religion

I imagine that's why they need Zimmy. I read it such that this is the effect of Kat (inadvertently) harnessing Zimmy's powers, which may be accessible to others because of the etheric syphons. Did anyone else notice that the Ship is evolving in the image of its Goddess? Almost biblical, heh

Fine, just make him a body that looks like an ugly giant blobfish. That'll learn him.
(I was going to say just make him look like a giant penis to teach him a lesson, but... I think that's what he wants?)

So this is where Katerina will finally be forced to come to terms with the power the robots' "belief" in her gives her through the AEther. It has been said before, but I say it now, this chapter is truly a major turning point in the comic; the relationships between characters, groups, etc. may be unrecognizable once these events pass. Something makes me think that the overarching conflict of the comic of which all of the conflicts we have seen so far (court vs forest, Jeanne, Diego and the robots, etc.) are only facets will come out into the open and I have a really ominous feeling about how Kat is going to play into all this.
The implications of the fact that the robots' belief that Kat will make the flesh can cause her to do it without wanting to are disturbing. I am afraid that we may be reaching a point where Kat, the character we know and love is replaced by the Angel the robots believe her to be, as she gradually loses her free will. If that is the case, I predict that the final apotheosis of the comic will somehow involve Antimony bringing about the end of the ability of the AEther to have this sort of effect, finally resulting in her release, along with the demise of all AEther-powered entities like the Psychopomps and even Coyote (perhaps a sort of collective heroic sacrifice...Coyote might even find it funny, somehow...)
But of course, this is baseless speculation with no merit. Mr. Siddell is a far better writer than I, so I imagine his actual plans are much more imaginative.

Actually on that subject, I wonder where Zimmy is. I get the impression she would have been seen by now if it was nothing to worry about, but her just being completely gone probably means something bad.

Kat, remember, the ship wants to be a potential mate for Lindsey.
You've met Bud.
Most importantly, you know how large Bud is.

Most importantly, you know how large Bud is. Well, obviously size isn't important to Lindsey. She doesn't discriminate. or maybe giant crabs in the gunnerverse exhibit sexual dimorphism. probably more likely

Speaking of relationships and all that, I noticed the other day that I'd been operating under the unfounded assumption that Lyn would either reject the Love Boat or consume him in some sort of mating act as a tragic irony and either way he wouldn't be a factor in further chapters. But really, what do we know about what Lyn would find attractive or what her needs are? Wouldn't it be grand if the plot twist of the chapter is that Lyn decides to have an affair with him? And with this process I figure in the future Kat and Zim would have to be nearly literally shanghaied into assisting once or twice a month (not always represented in the comic but implied) for them to keep their trysts? We'd have the seraphs chase/capture and/or nag and/or trick them into future cruises as an ongoing thing to look forward to whenever Lyn could sneak away for a meet-up, plus astoundingly awkward moments with the blissfully ignorant cuckolded Bud, incredibly odd rumors flying around the faculty lounge, and so forth leading up to an explosive reveal that would make Jerry Springer do backflips while braying like a donkey. But all that's probably too much to hope for.

So, suddenly you find yourself in some sort of nightmare world, after being separated from your friends. A powerful creature demands impossible things of you and you realize that you actually can do those impossible things... I guess we'll find out soon how well Kat can handle pressure.
Also, good thing Paz is still with her, to keep her grounded. That's some heady experience.

maybe it is all happened and over before we now it and is the rescue team only needed for further transport because the ship is "dead" in the water because it has no board computer any more.
And have Kat made a gorgeous "Robot animal" who every one will love when it swims of.
(uhm probably not)

Hi there! There's a ton of stuff you can do with a giant hand, Kat. Yeah, start with washing, they don't look healthy.. maybe it is all happened and over before we know it and is the rescue team only needed for further transport because the ship is "dead" in the water because it has no board computer any more. I'd be surprised if it was that easy.

I call it now, but it is mostly improbable (don't know if that even mean something, but, well, he) : Kat will start to panick, doing lot of movements with her hands (holding her head, wave arms, put hands up...) and talking to Paz all along. When she will notice the face Paz is doing, oh horror, and will slowly turn back, only to discover that the giant hands have follow all her gestures to give shape to the ship. But a shape really ugly. And then the ship will say : "Hum. Not what I expected but... Thank you very much Creator !"
