Ghostery blocks all trackers when you configure it that way, but not other scripts. I know that it's less secure than NoScript, but I hear the NoScript for Chrome is really glitchy. I installed NoScript when I read that nowadays tracking can be done through your computer's digital "watermark", its unique signature based on what its physical configuration is and what versions of what programs are installed, based on how it runs any scripts, not just tracker ones. I'm using Pale Moon browser, myself, after Mozilla started screwing up the Firefox platform too much.

Hmmmm, intriguing...I presume this isn't very wide-spread yet, because it would require powerful tools for the regression and identification? Because if someone with that many resources wants to track me down, I doubt even NoScript would save me. I really should look into the Tor Browser, though.

Because if someone with that many resources wants to track me down, I doubt even NoScript would save me. I got the impression that's it's gotten pretty widespread, already. I don't fear much about being tracked as an individual, but I hate to contribute to the surveillance society as an ignorant drone. If more people put more effort in protecting their data, even the NSA would be hard pressed to keep their current degree of snooping going on.

On another note, now that I have Ghostery installed, I find it horrifying how many tracking services are watching you on every website, including this one. It gives that pleasant illusion of privacy yes, I use it together with quite a long host file, but if you really don't want to be watched online throw away your computer. I really should look into the Tor Browser, though. It has NoScript build in. I imagine a lot of effort is put into tracking the tor network, so I sometimes use it to check the weather. If you use it on proboards, your IP gets banned instantly.

Lightice: The only reason I don't have Tor yet is that it's been confirmed that downloading it automatically puts you on NSA watch-lists. keef: I know it's only an illusion if I *really* care about privacy, but I will say that it's better than nothing. Interesting about the Tor Browser being banned here...do you know why?

Lightice: The only reason I don't have Tor yet is that it's been confirmed that downloading it automatically puts you on NSA watch-lists. That's a very long list anyway. I agree No. Another website I visit regularly just says: You are using Tor, so some of our content is not available. I don't know enough about the way this works, and I'm curious myself.

On another topic, how would one find out the total number of readers of GKC?

On another topic, how would one find out the total number of readers of GKC? Well, here's some raw statistics: gunnerkrigg.com.w3snoop.com/ I'm pretty sure there's a quick way to view more, such as a breakdown by OS (I remember because a while back someone linked me to this page and there was one person accessing gunnerkrigg.com from Amiga) but I don't remember how. If anyone finds it please post it here - I'm curious too. Edit: Ah, here we go, courtesy of Gotolei: www.gunnerkrigg.com/stats/

Are people still playing Fallen London? eyemyself? fwip? Daedalus? Person I don't recognize? My name there is crumminglit. If you say you are, I will invite you to coffee! I think I like this game. I have a weasel, and scandalous red stockings, and I can write all day.

Huh, I had a few friends who played Fallen London for about a year or so, up til a few months ago. Seemed interesting but I could never really get into it.

Anyone up for some jazz harpsichord?

I have a new distraction. It is terrible and wonderful. I have been completely engrossed for two days now. I am sorry. You are welcome. fallenlondon.storynexus.com/I-I can't. I just can't... Sobs. Too many, far too many things am I so engrossed with that a significant portion of my life had been spent on entertainment! I mean, come on, I easily lose eat, sleep, hygiene, social contact, etc on just simple console games (I still stand by my Playstation) and online-accessible comics and manga (and two manhwa) it's not even funny. (You guys ever heard of Amnesya, though? "The world's most challenging riddles", if I'm not mistaken. Website, not the horror game.) Anyone up for some jazz harpsichord?
Eheh, discovered a new genre of music that envelops you, have you? Even if it weren't, I know how that feels. On that note, anyone up for some tasty soul-soothing music evocative of gentle autumn days and plains full of flowers and breezes?
Rule of three, yo!

I love Helios (have you listened to his other projects?) and like Jon Hopkins. *listens to Chicane* Oh yeah, I could like this. Have you heard of Pantha du Prince, Tycho, Apparat, Lusine, Port-Royal, Bibio, Eluvium, Floex, Hammock, Markus Guentner, Ólafur Arnalds (might be a bit slow), Prins Thomas... *takes breath, stops typing*
Ok, one each from my favorites:
I love the video for this one:
(You guys ever heard of Amnesya, though? "The world's most challenging riddles", if I'm not mistaken. Website, not the horror game.) I'm the worst at riddles, in fact, I tried that just see how not far I could get and didn't get past tutorial 2. Go me? ETA: Oh, that was easier than I was thinking. *keeps going*

(I'll get back to you on the other stuffs) I might like to tell you, sapientcoffee, that Chicane is mostly a Trance artist, or Ibiza trance, as it were. His songs are more beaty than one might like. Still, I enjoy most of his music as they are all relaxing. Well, not all of them, but I would listen to them if I feel the want to slow down. And yeah, I can safely say that Keith Kenniff is one of my 4 (maybe +1) favourite artists.

What, every download of tor from every torrent or repository via HTTPS? Because once tor itself is set up, everything else can go through it... keef: I know it's only an illusion if I *really* care about privacy, but I will say that it's better than nothing. Your IP or IP of Tor exit you began to use?.. The Tor exit. I don't believe that Proboards can track Tor exists in itself. They just ban ip:s that do spam, spread viruses or generally act like assholes, and unfortunately many use Tor for such purposes. So if someone has been misusing the same Tor exist that you are using, it's going to be already banned.

Lightice: The only reason I don't have Tor yet is that it's been confirmed that downloading it automatically puts you on NSA watch-lists. Oh it's much worse than that. Tor was actually created as a tool for the US intelligence community. The majority of the money came from government funding, and the team that made it all came from that background. Tor was designed for spies. They released it to the general public because without other, real traffic, every foreign intelligence agency could just look at Tor traffic and say "well, there goes another spy". As long as there are criminals and normal people who just want some privacy browsing, it obscures their activity. NSA didn't just peel the onion. They created the onion. If you want proof, just look at who maintains the biggest exit servers, where the majority of the traffic goes through. pando.com/2014/07/16/tor-spooks/

For readers that haven't yet seen this advice: panopticlick.eff.org/self-defense.phpI used to use the Firegloves 1.2.3 Mozilla plugin that obstructed browser signature tracking using randomization, but development stopped a year ago. Without that plugin, even after uninstalling all plugins and setting fonts to an empty string (the biggest two sources of identifying information) my signature was still too unique. With that plugin my uniqueness is only 1 in 32,000.

Never played B/W, but Staraptor is a really good flying type. Possibly the best Normal/Flying, with its only real competition really being Togekiss (Also a good option). EDIT: Basically, think of Staraptor as a bulldozer, which can demolish anything in its path, while Togekiss is very good support and defense, and could round out your already offense-oriented team.

If your parameter is Flying, Manidbuzz or Braviary can give that team a bit more tankiness or sweeping power, Landorus looks retarded but Ground/Flying is an evil combo to beat as is Rock/Flying so Archeops is another potential, and I have a special place in my heart for Emolga as well.
