Paz: "Meh. It could be worse. At least, she's not a clown." (Annie puts one hand over her face with outstretched fingers, slowly crumples up the skin and pulls it away to reveal the red and white paint underneath) "By the way, I am a clown." It's like its the Joker underneath. Now THAT would be scary

This isn't the first time that Annie shows her "I got a crazy idea" face.

"It's not my blood."
That *is* a really scary line. In fact, I'd say it's probably second only to "I've never found it necessary to lie" for scariness.
And if you don't think that's a very scary line, you haven't properly thought through the implications.

Yes.
It is clearly normal of Gunnerkrigg students to walk in with burnt clothes and covered in blood. This totally would have gone unnoticed by everybody which making her way to the dorms.
(maybe it's because she doesn't eat Court food in the forest?)

Okay, "It's not MY blood." is scary because it implicates it's someone else's... and that means you hurt someone As for "I've never found it necessary to lie"... It implies that you always tell the truth...? I don't geet it :L

Hm, best I can come up with for not needing to lie is because they simply never got caught doing the..homicidal things. And even if they were, those who would tell didn't remain potential problems for long.

Paz probably will not run away with "IAAAYYYYYYY!". But will not get over it too quickly either, unless Annie will "help", and she's having too much fun for that. If only Annie had remembered her clown mask. I am anticipating, with some relish, the moment when it dawns on Paz who was behind the clown incident. Possibly when Kat introduces her to Mort? While I don't think Paz was traumatised for life, she's got some depths to her and would be quite able to serve a good cold dish of revenge!

It's interesting to think how differently that line would've come across had Ysengrin died. That is NOT okay. </3

Ah, yes. I would've loved to see that presentation. Wonder if it had to do with the uber heart?

I think maybe Annie doesn't even make faces, she's just strained from trying not to laugh. It is clearly normal of Gunnerkrigg students to walk in with burnt clothes and covered in blood. This totally would have gone unnoticed by everybody which making her way to the dorms. I still think she used this line on everyone she met on her way back. I am anticipating, with some relish, the moment when it dawns on Paz who was behind the clown incident. Possibly when Kat introduces her to Mort? While I don't think Paz was traumatised for life, she's got some depths to her and would be quite able to serve a good cold dish of revenge! She did almost become one-story girl. But then, it's the Court, and she was through more fun stuff... including sudden abduction by hands-from-the-darkness. Then again, Annie may tell Paz herself, eventually.

Yes, of course. It's not like she's ever genuinely smiled before this. But that is a rather amusing thought

Why did Annie not know that? She knew the function of the guides, and she later says that she had to help her mother move on alone, and thus was angry at the guides. (Too lazy to find page link right now, sorry.)

Certainly not a common event: otherwise, souls would rarely move on at all (because there's rarely someone like Annie around to take the guides' place). Maybe the 'guides don't show up' is specific to fire-elemental-kin? Who knows.

Now, that would be something interesting to explore: spirits like Jeanne, now with pyrokinetic powers. Carrie x Jeanne, I guess?
