She helped out the psychopomps while at the hospital. Could at least be plausible that things might have gotten messy from time to time. |

I don't want to be the one to point out, that Annie still isn't entirely sure what happened, to cause his earlier violence. This could easily be seen as the "Calm" or "Honeymoon" phase in the cycle of abuse.
But that would be a HUGE downer to point out, so instead, I'll just say this page is adorablicious. Which it is.

Even for an older brother he's so much more experienced and worn down, it's clear it's some kind of intergenerational thing. Hell, if you take stories into account Ysengrin has been alive since the 12th century. How long has it been since he's had someone to hang out with and be happy with? He's said to love Coyote, but worshiping someone doesn't make you happy in their company. It's great to see that Y doesn't just wear the negative emotions on his sleeve. It's also sad because that means he's rarely this happy. Antimony's reaction is adorable. Still not good with the praise it seems. You can at least be sure that he means it, seeing as how he's so harsh and readily critical. Maybe that's why she's so flustered.... The moral here is of course that there's nothing like a little team-up monster fighting to make people grow closer. Anyway, great to see Y happy. He might be mad as a box of frogs, but don't say he does not care. I don't want to be the one to point out, that Annie still isn't entirely sure what happened, to cause his earlier violence. Oh for sure, but they both know now that it happened and that something fishy is going on with Ysengrins memory. If you go back to after he attacked her he's also clearly horrified at what he did. He admitted that he didn't remember it, but that he's had similar experiences learning that he's misbehaved and gotten struck with amnesia. From Antimony's point of view there is no way of knowing if he's speaking the truth or not, but we as viewers know what his reaction after the attack was, and that he actually do not remember, as coyote ate his memory (which is filed under a new section on "horrifying) Something is very wrong with Y's mind, and he seems unable to fix it from inside. Not to sound like an apologist, but Ysengrin might actually be too far gone to control it any longer. He might need Antimony's help to solve it, which is what I predict this is leading up to. Hopefully it won't end with a mercy kill or similar "least evil" alternative. |

Ysengrin did teach Annie about pulling out the fire from within so he is really proud to see her put it into action.
He seems to be a father/grandfather figure for Annie. I wonder if any male has ever told Annie that she was beautiful. For her to blush, she must have never heard that from her father/anyone or just never expected it from Ysengrin.
I'm hoping this mood last for the whole chapter.
