I looked though the forum and didn't find a tread for this, so I decided to make one myself.
Anyway, are there any songs that remind you of Gunnerkrigg Court?
I can't think of any right now, but I'll post some when I find some.

Fairport Convention's Reynardine, Kate Rusby's Annan Water, much of that dark and shadowy first Sandy Denny album (The Raven And The North Star Grassman), maybe some Patrick Wolfe. Music with dusty shadowy corners, a little bit of mystery to it and an english accent...

Whenever I hear "Girl and the Ghost" by KT Tunstall, I think of Mort + Annie; and I think of Zimmy when listening to Blink 182's "I Miss You".

Kate Rusby has been a big influence on Tom. As for the purely subjective musical connections: Joy Electric's "Wolf in the Bend" reminds me of Reynardine, lyrics-wise. (Music-wise, it sounds more like something Kat would listen to.) Sufjan Steven's " Majesty Snowbird" reminds me of "A Week for Kat", particularly the lyrics: Plus, I think, with a little editing and rearranging, it would be an effective soundtrack for the chapter.

I reread several pages/parts of GC whilst listening to Patrick Wolf, now I have several associations between his music and the comic.

Émilie Simon's Annie remind me a lot of Annie. Besides the name, the song has a strong and delicate atmosphere.

Oh, the very majestic Godwits work as well- they're not yet widely known but a few friends saw them live the other night and were totally blown away.

For some reason, The Big Push by Rabbit Junk reminds me of Gunnerkrigg sometimes. It has quite a spooky, "evil children at the haunted carnival" feeling to it, so it makes me think of children and spooky goings on in big scary places. I'll be very surprised if anyone knows who they are, but I thought I'd add my two cents.

I think.. it fits well*, although Annie doesn't seem like such a dark character unless you take a closer look. The last three panels of this page are a good example. I really wonder what petit Annie has seen in her life before coming to the court she is still so angry about. *regarding the sound, I didn't look at the lyrics yet and don't know french well enough to get them by just listening** Just listened to it on youtube, a good song. ** Is the Annie in this song falling to her death? That'd be a crazy coincidence.

Your french is probably better than mine. By what I understood, she indeed falls to her death, in a stairway, while someone waits for her (I think). SongLyrics

I heard "Soundtrack to your life" recent-ish and the line "Cuz if you don't laugh you cry" reminded me of a handful of dirt.

"The Devil is in the Details" by Boards of Canada, I bet that repeats itself in Zimmy's mind over and over and over again..
It'd make me go crazy, that's for sure.

Bat For Lashes tatty and eccentric instruments, as well as her otherworldly music, give her the air of a house musician from GC.

Quite a bit of industrial music reminds me of Gunnerkrigg Court itself, especially Nine Inch Nails and Ministry.

My little GC themesong is Frou Frou - Let Go. It's all ethereal and detached and pretty and stuff, I love this song and I think it fits really well

I noticed that quite a lot of them were instrumentals. The ghost song is great.

Glad you like it.
I like instrumental songs for mixtapes, because I don't have to worry about the words being completely out of place.

I really wonder what petit Annie has seen in her life before coming to the court she is still so angry about. If he escorts the dead, and she met him when he escorted patients who died at the hospital, I'm guessing he is the one who escorted her mother after she died there. Possibly she tried to argue with him (since she could see him)? Get him to let her mother stay? Or maybe even to take her too so they wouldn't have to be apart. I could certainly see a barely-teenager latching on to him as the source of her anger and pain over her mother dying. Most of the songs in this thread I haven't heard of, and now I'm gonna have to seek some of them out and educate myself, methinks. (While rereading the Gunnerkrigg archives, right?) ;D

Right now I'm hitting on SoaD and Serj Tankian's Elect The Dead. Very good. Specifically, 'Empty Walls', 'Soldier Time', 'Aerials', 'Lie, Lie, Lie', 'Honking Antelope', Lonely Day, Lost In Hollywood, and a few others that I haven't been paying enough attention to note the names of.

I know this is a rather late response, but the "Annie" song by Emilie Simon has the Annie of that song fall down a stairway to her death with a date or meeting waiting for her. Then, her grave is kept by some dandelions. I think the chorus is about her never having any time for anything.
I'm just a French student, I don't know the language well enough -__-

Oh, thanks fr4tbrn. I wasn't sure I got it right. I'm just trying to learn French by myself and, despite being a Latin language, it's fairly different from mine (I'm Brazilian, so Portuguese is my first language).
