And lest we forget, at some point both Paz and Kat are both going to die. Their society and civilization will crumble and be replaced several times over, and all of their accomplishments - should they ever manage to have any significant ones - will eventually be worn away and forgotten, lost in the sands of time. And eventually, the heat death of the universe will ensure that nothing at all remains of any of us. But Jones will remember! I try to remember what was in my head when I was their age and I can't think of anything. Anything that makes sense, at least. And five years later I am getting so confused about everything that it makes my head explode. What I'm trying to say is they may be even too smart for their age but they are still teenagers, and they need to learn stuff, and explore their own mind, and be stupid, and basically do whatever they feel like doing as long as it's not hurting anyone. It's not a big deal and I really don't understand why is this bothering so many people in so many ways (also just in: this is a webcomic and they are not real and this is a wonderful story not a reason to fight guuuise)I just found some old emails from when I was 14, and dear lord I was such a little snot. Which is to say, yes, teenagers be crazy. But sometimes in a good way. Confusion is normal, and there is nothing wrong with them trying to figure stuff out, because that's how you grow up. Kat and Paz are doing a pretty good job of it.

5% are in denial. They may justify their denial by pointing out that Kat was always interested in boys. No need to be shy. Nor any use, for that matter.Once you began waving Freud at everyone disagreeing with you and giving actual arguments, may as well run with it until you can emerge from the other side and claim this to be some sort of performance art. Until then, it's just a particularly indecent variant of a jester's scepter. 5% write essays and have long arguments on the hints and lead ups to this comic. And then 50% of all people curse the author and say "Dammit Tom, you've trolled us by not subverting our expectations!" ...I'd also like to see your data. Including 'back to 1400 CENSORED' directory. Ah! Where's that guy that went all nuclear during Faraway Morning? It's almost enough to make me head back to SA and see where the GK appreciation thread has gone in the last couple years... That one? Amused me, too. ;D (also just in: this is a webcomic and they are not real and this is a wonderful story not a reason to fight guuuise) Fight what guise? Are we attacked by dopplegangers or ninjas?

My father (when he still dwelt amongst the living) worked in finance and insurance at car dealerships. Once he worked with a salesman who claimed that an attraction to women meant that he should count as a lesbian — and he dug in his heels, wouldn’t consider the possibility that a heterosexual cis-gendered male can’t be a lesbian by definition.
So I guess I’m a lesbian, too. Everyone is a lesbian. EVERYONE.

Just before that chibi dude goes mental on the faraway morning thread:
blahzor: <pulls out magic 8 ball> Kat will be gay by chapter 50, Jack shall date Annie only in the Etheric Space by chapter 40 and Smitty's eyebrows shall cause chaos while the rest of him cause order Tobu Ishi: Ooh, ooh, ooh, does this mean our third and final story is going to be about something Annie did in the forest? Oh, please, oh, please let that be it! Summer forest stories! My fannish heart brims o'er with glee!
HOLY CRAP.

Kat being my favorite and as much as I like them together, it just doesn't seem like anything other than Kat going along with it because she doesn't want to hurt Paz's feelings. Not a good sign for a relationship. :\ Yes, she glows with happiness because she's being forced into this

Remember, outside the Vault, happiness is not the only reason for glow. Though for Ghouls it can be the same.

I don't think Annie ever referred to the letter (that we actually saw) as a love letter. However, she certainly didn't do or say anything to indicate - or even hint - that it is NOT a love letter. And Kat explicitly referred to it as a love letter both before reading it and while talking to Paz. Paz didn't do or say anything to contradiction that description either. The notion of a "let's be friends" letter isn't consistent with the available evidence. (And up until here it being a let's-be-friends letter from Paz was on my list of plausible possibilities.)

Yep, this relationship, like pretty much all others, is doomed to end someday. So don't be happy for this brief, fleeting moment in time when things are good! For the future is full of endings, and time will eventually come for us all.

I'm not saying her parents are narrow-minded about 'Kingdom: Robotica' or 'Class: Aves', not to mention elementals, demons, or shadows, but 'girl vs. boy' is a pretty small issue in comparison. I'm surprised (and cautiously relieved) that there were no mentions of any fanfics going for 3-in-1 (that is, shipping Kat with a Mythical Ornithonics chick). Back to the comic, though, Court "robots" being tricked out golems... self-aware magical constructs. For people not getting double take upon discovery that someone descended from a fire elemental, these are not too far out. So, basically... a Heavy Sandhog?

Sexuality is complex, Kat could have crushed on men forever but when it comes to physically getting with them things could have gone south. For example:
I was born female at birth and before I dated women I dated men. It was in these experiments with men that I realized that sometimes you really do like a person and think you like them but when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of being with a person things can go differently.
Maybe Kat has gone through something similar in her attractions to men, she has never been with a man so maybe even though she liked them it would not have worked for some reason. The same could even be said of the Paz/Kat thing. Though for the record I like the idea of Kat with women more.
Don't get me started on the crazy turns and degrees of gender a person can go through...It took me like 5 min to decide to click male or female on the gender box to register on the board.

Unfortunately English is not an easy language for the genderqueer. I dunno, English speakers have it pretty easy compared to those who speak, like, Spanish or something. I only know a little bit but boy am I glad I don't have to worry about noun/adjective gender agreement in everyday conversation.

For whatever reason I read that as implying that genderqueer people don't speak English! It was supposed to refer to the gendered pronouns of English, and how hard it's to address anyone outside the standard gender-roles with them. I guess I could have worded it a bit better. I guess that's one of the perks of my language, Finnish; our pronouns are entirely gender-free, and in normal speech we use the "it" pronoun to refer to almost everything, from people to inanimate objects.

If you sign up as a male they'll turn it red and make it go faster! Everyone knows red is the fastest color isn't red actually the slowest color? it's got the longest wavelength anyhow... edit: now i can't stop thinking about wavelenghts in relation to speed and i've confused myself. anyone wanna tell me about wavelengths so i can stop wikipediaing?

It is related to speed, but the full equation is Wavelength=Speed divided by Frequency. If you want to know why light has a "frequency" it will be a MUCH longer explanation and, like this comic, will probably leave you with more questions than answers. If you sign up as a male they'll turn it red and make it go faster! Everyone knows red is the fastest color But what about Sanic? He gotta go fast too.

Think of how a wave on the sea works- basically the water itself only moves up and down while the energy is being transmitted horizontally. Or a string on a guitar- it takes some time for the energy of plucking the string to propagate along it horizontally however the string itself just moves up and down. Light itself moves at "the speed of light", c, which is a constant, under almost all circumstances. So the speed in which the energy is being propagated forwards is always constant, even though the wavelength (which is at 90 degrees) might vary.

Actually, while the speed of light in vacuum is a constant, the speed of light in a medium varies with (among other things) frequency. Hence how prisms or raindrops decompose light: If all frequencies of light had the same speed in glass or water (and the surrounding air), they would all be refracted by the same angle, and the rainbow would be a single-coloured arc of light. Dull world, huh? Which colour is faster depends on the material, but in common materials such as rainwater and most glasses, red is indeed faster.
