What do I do after I've been whitelisted? That is, how will I access the server?

MC Edit has a canal schematic built-in which with a little tweaking (deleting the glass) I think would work rather well for river annan.

Also I don't think that mo' creatures works on SMP.


I've done a mock-up, would be more than willin to share schematic, with some editing that would be an awesome bridge.

You should have permission to access the server now! Just type in the IP address that's posted in the first post, and you should be all set.

We need to set some rules on how we're going to do this.

Choices:

• Gather resources, use kits, or cheat?
  
• Use WorldEdit to level/shape the world faster or do it by hand?
  
• Mobs on or off?
  
• 3-tier permissions system (admin, moderator, member) or 2-tier (admin, member)?
  
• New seed with flatter land?

I suggest a new seed...the current spawn is not similar to the court terrain at all, there's water and floating islands all around. We need a forest-y plain. Also, why not use the IRC channel to coordinate us better?

Also, we should start from the Annan Waters. The canyon should be about as large as three quarters the width of the stone plateau currently at spawn. who agrees?

Edit: I just want to add that i won't be able to do any sort of work for the next time, as my own computer has virus, and the other one we have doesn't really cut it...

EDIT: My preference would be to go fairly vanilla, but I don't really mind either way.

So has anyone made any GC skins yet? I just finished a laser cow texture:

Requesting some kind of easy item spawning plugin.. I tried setting up a vault with rare/unobtainable materials, but that is nearly impossible with vanilla "/give" command.

Please be aware that our server can only have 16 people at one time. If we want to get the next server up (32 people max), I will need donations for that. That's a little too much for me each month to cover by myself if I needed to.

I'm not very good at using IRC channels, and I'm not sure how many people signed up for the server know how to use it either. :\ It would definitely be a better way to coordinate things as it's in real time, but again, I'm not sure how many people it would alienate. Another solution would be to have a subforum for the Minecraft server stuff, but I don't know if Tom would do that.

I'd say that as a group we design things, then put them in via cheating (either through MCEdit, or by planning the structure and building by hand with chests full of a bazillion of every block).
Resource gathering would take forever.

I'd say monsters yes, but with creepers having explosions turned off (there are server mods that do that).

But let people gather resources still, so they could build things of own accord (as long as inkeeping).

We could also set aside an area (either in the woods or court) for building homes, etc. Granted that the people in there stick to the theme of the area.
People in the woods could only use dirt and wood where as people in the court would have to use Iron Blocks? or stone.


Oh, and for people on Macs, the textures folder is found as follows: (username)->Library->Application Support->minecraft->texturepacks

It's being fixed very slowly.

Well he added to much water and all the new blocks the server couldnt handle them so yes. Becuase not only was it not at the bottom it was at the top.

I'm waiting for wolves to come out to change them to Reynardine. If we get enough stuff done we can switch to those textures. I was also thinking of rediong the diamond item image to make it look in the shape of a blinker stone.

I think a blinker stone should be a redstone torch and redstone should be ehterical lines.....or something.

That would look weird when building stuff with redstone, especially if it's supposed to look mechanical. I think maybe the compass could be the blinker stone.

Edit: Flint and steel! Wouldn't that be the logical choice... it makes fire and stuff.

Server's back up! New plugins added. I will fix/add plugins tomorrow night as well until I'm comfortable with what we have.

I have edited some items too... I'll just post what I have done so far (most of the pack's textures are from Eldpack(which is really good), and some from Painterly pack I think.) Click the image if you want to try it.


Also, my opinion on mods are the less the better, but then it might be best to create a big flat area in an editor first.
