I'm from Malaga (Spain) and I'm studying to become and engineer (if everything goes alright, I'll soon finish my degree). The world needs more experienced engineers in positions of power to keep the theoreticians under control.

Hello all! Been reading GC for years (since around 2009, 2010?), finally joined the forum a few months back when I realized you all had much better things to say about the comic than the peanut gallery on the comments board. Cheers!
Real Name: Stix is actually part of it.
Nickname: Dre, occasionally
Age: 29
Favorite Games (board games, card games or videogames): In no particular order: Toc Toc Woodman, Portal, and back in the day it was Mastermind and gin. And yes, I'm a fan of Cards Against Humanity. There's also a stack of games on a shelf that my husband and I still haven't gotten to.
Favorite Court character: Reynardine is definitely up there. And Kat.
Favorite sport(s): Climbing. As much as possible. But to watch, I'll go with hockey (go Hawks!). And do dancing and cooking count?
Favorite movie(s): Cabaret, The Birdcage, The Sound of Music (whaaat? I was a theatre major!), Love Actually, Cabin in the Woods, Shirley Valentine, Moonrise Kingdom. And if we're including TV shows: Buffy & Firefly and pretty much everything else Joss Whedon has ever touched, Fringe, ST:DS9, Doctor Who. And large chunks of Disney and Pixar's opuses.
Favorite book(s): Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice, American Gods, Good Omens, most of Dick Francis' early work, Harry Potter, The Sandman series, On Immunity: An Inoculation, The Chronicles of Narnia.
Finally, tell us a little about yourself: Graduated from college knowing that I didn't actually want to be an actor after all, and after waitressing for a few years and performing with a dance company in Chicago, I finally stumbled upon medicine and thought it'd be cool to be a doctor. Currently in my third year of medical school and wondering why I ever thought I'd want to do anything else.

Welcome dramastix! If cooking counts even I am a sportsman... American Gods is in my top ten, and absolutely interesting for anyone who loves Gunnerkrigg.

So I guess I should mention that I've just joined here (after being an on-and-off lurker for years). But I'm not really the guy to list my biography on the net, so I'll just say that I hope I can be a positive addition to this board, and that whatever thread I post in will be better for it.

Hello, I'm freeman. 26 year old (good old 89 vintage; you see in the next vintages they had to compromize in build quality due recession) male person. My horoscope is snake-oak-aries.
I also was conscripted to the military... A long story short, I came out as a "message station man" with psychologist's recommendation that I'd never touch hard ammunition in my life... Oh well, such is life.
I'm a Finn, and got a bachelor's degree in automation, which is not quite programming, not quite electricity and not quite mechanics, in short - a zero-degree in nothing, but I'm proudly flying it under the banner of integrated device programming and general electrics planning in this a small company which got's as a good a name as I do ("Fnnish robotics solutins ltd."). In short, we import Nacho and OTD (names obscured, to not make this googleable) welding robots and desing complete robotics welding and material handling solutions around them, meaning positioning tables for welding and all sorts of conveyor and lifting and machine vision and milling systems for material handling.
Once in a time I saw the GCK forum and thought that hey, I have something to say but I had no credentials so what should I do..? Well, naturally I made the credentials and promptly submitted them to the Bug Me Not: that's the source of my original signature: "Freeman is a joint effort..." How ever, as the time went by, I noticed that I was the only one using these credentials and as the time passed, I became increasingly attached to this place and the stuff I had contributed by then, so in the end I changed the password and the signature too to signify it. Now it's all me behind this glorious name. How ever, even to day, you may look bug me not to see the truth.
Outside GKC, I like trains wery much, and electricity and I'm fairly proficient in programming, but haven't done anything big due to my inherently lazy nature, because such is life. Trains are cool, and mechanical bicycle hubs too. Anything mechanical really, as long as I don't need to desing it. Now, did it have any electromechanical components, I'd be more than happy to help... Over trains, I like tram systems a lot too. Trams are cool, always things happening whereas in railways it takes a decade to get anything done.

Guess I should do this thing...
I'm TK. 24yo, from the States. Kinda between schools, started in Music Education, jumped to Physics and Engineering, focusing in Acoustics, burned out from that, working in Walmart while preparing to start school track #3. Looking at some combo of Journalism and Film Studies, top two schools are one one East Coast, other on the West.
I don't remember when I started reading GC, but I binged from the beginning and caught up sometime during The Stone. I've always been a sucker for dry, British humor, so this comic quickly grabbed my attention. The artwork evolution is fascinating to me as well.
In my free time I teach a high school drumline in my area. I love indoor percussion and marching band/drum corps, and pretty much any kind of good music.
I don't say much, but I'll pop in every once in a while as I get my feet back under me.

Been posting here for a little bit, guess I should introduce myself.
Hi, I'm Storel. I'm 50+ years old, and I program computers for a living, although I'm not actually employed at the moment... I've been using the name Storel online since around 1999, starting in some EZBoard forums for The Sims, so if you've seen the name elsewhere it was probably me. (I've used a few other names online as well, but I think this is the one I've used the most.)
I'm married (14 years now), and we have no kids but we're owned by 4 cats, two of whom we inherited from my late mother. (We had been living with her for the last 5 years as caregivers because of her Alzheimer's, so all the cats get along pretty well by now, though the first year was fairly rough.) All four of them are very sweet and affectionate.

I haven't really been around that long. Registered last December, but didn't make my first post until a month later, and I still have only 24 posts six months after that. Yeah, six months might be a little longer than most posters wait to introduce themselves. But the board still calls me a "New Member", so I figured I could get away with it.

Hi! I'm Jackie and I've been into Gunnerkrigg for around 2 years, and I kind of got bored being the only person into theory instead of art. I'm 15 and entering my sophmore year of highschool (which actually makes me Annie's age) and I can safely say that all of them are prefect teenagers. All of them. Uh, I really like... Everything except mean people. which there are a lot of. But Gunnerkrigg seems like a good webcomic, so maybe I'll stick around or maybe I'll just lurk. Either way, it's nice to meet you all!!!

Without a question, Kat, Shadow, and Red+crew. And George. And Reynard. And everyone. I love all the characters. Everyone is extremely well written and thought out, even the non plot advancing characters (who all have similar reactions from when they appear previously in the comic) and I really, really can't choose. Maybe Jones, when I think really hard about it. Who're your favorite characters?

My answer would be similar - everyone is so well-written and it's hard to choose! - but I'd say that Renard, Coyote, and Ysengrin are the top tier, closely followed by Annie and Kat and Parley and Smitty, closely followed by everyone else? The characterization has always been top-notch in this comic

Hey everybody! Figured I'd introduce myself Name: Joy Age: 19 What I Do: read fanfiction, mostly. On the side, I'm a college student, studying archaeology and computer science, and dabbling in just about every thing else, as well. I'm a sucker for books and music of any style, especially stuff I haven't heard/read before, so send recommendations my way Favorite Character(s): Ysengrin, Reynard (wolfdads4lyfe, i love them so much), Annie, Winsbury & Janet I started reading GC back during chapter 36, binged from the beginning after a few beautiful pages of not knowing what was happening, and I've stuck with it since then! I can't wait to see where Tom goes with everything. He does such an excellent job of weaving together complex plot threads into a cohesive story. Glad to meet you all!

Post by Runningflame on Jan 29, 2017 6:28:32 GMT
Oh, hey look, an introduction thread! Hi, I'm Runningflame. Many years ago I joined a site called Wands and Worlds, which was ostensibly for fans of fantasy and science fiction but mostly had fans of the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. Most of us chose usernames in the style of the names from those books, and I liked the sound of Runningflame. If that's too long to type, you can call me RF for short. The site admin of Wands and Worlds, Sheila Ruth, is involved in the Cybils Awards, and so one day last spring I was browsing lists of Cybils winners and saw the first volume of Gunnerkrigg Court listed (it had won the Graphic Novel category in 2009). It sounded interesting and I saw that it was online, so I started from the beginning. I caught up at the beginning of "A Big Day." I've been lurking on the forum for a few months and decided to join the conversation during the suspenseful moments of "The Other Shore." Age: 20-something Height: 6'2 Width: thin Gender: male Beard: more than this guy, less than this guyFavorite Games (board games, card games or videogames): Civilization series, Mare Nostrum, Hanabi, Fluxx, chess Favorite Court character: Zimmy. Yes, she's unpleasant, profane, etc., all things I normally don't like--but considering what she has to deal with, the fact that she's even able to function is amazing. Favorite sport to watch: American college football; to play or watch: tennis. Favorite books: Anything by J.R.R. Tolkien; Sarah, Plain and Tall; Dear Mr. Henshaw (Beverly Cleary in general is awesome); From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler; The Phantom Tollbooth; The Chronicles of Narnia; The Screwtape Letters; A Series of Unfortunate Events; A Tale of Two Cities; Little Dorrit; The Murder of Roger Ackroyd; The Hounds of the Morrigan; A Wind in the Door (sequel to A Wrinkle in Time). Thanks to The Code Book, I know what a one-time pad is. If you love Gunnerkrigg Court you will love The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. Finally, a very honorable mention to Warriors: it doesn't quite hold up to the test of adulthood, but I loved it to bits during my teenage years. It inspired some fanfiction which nudged me toward adding writing to my list of hobbies. Favorite movies: The Incredibles, Inside Out, Up, and most of Pixar's work that isn't sequels (Toy Story 2 was good, though); Hugo; Driving Miss Daisy; Chicken Run; Wallace & Gromit; ASoUE. If we're including TV, I do like some Doctor Who from time to time, particularly the episodes where the timeline gets all mixy. Miscellaneous about-me: I'm trained as a computer programmer. My jobs at the moment don't involve much programming, but I still program recreationally. I'm most of the way through writing a Warriors fanfic murder mystery, but I got stuck after writing the climax. Languages and linguistics fascinate me. I conlang. I only speak English, but if you give me a dictionary I can read Koine Greek, and to a lesser extent biblical Hebrew, German, and Spanish. I read it as Viaxeiro first and then re-read it as Traveller to get the 60% I didn't understand.

Welp I've been on this forum for over 2 years and have never made a proper introduction, so here it is:
Name: Vuk Hobbies/passions/likes include, but are not limited to: Piano, Swimming, Ice-Skating, Gaming, Game Development, binge-watching/reading, History
Now I'm studying Electro-technical engineering with major in computer sciences at college I found about Gunnerkrigg court while browsing "meme-center", and as I was scrolling away looking for laughs, some random guy uploaded pages 1099-1112 in a form of a single post. I found the art style extremely satisfying, as well as the story it was conveying. At the time I thought the guy who made the post was the creator of the comic as well, but upon a quick glance at the description it was soon revealed to me that the comic was much bigger in entirety. So I bookmarked gunnerkrigg web-page thinking to myself, it will be fun to read this thing whole some day. The bookmark stood there for a year and a half, never-visited, up until the time I decided to reset my OS. As I was looking for things needing a back-up I found it among bookmarks. The night before, a snow storm had blocked the entrance to my apartment building. We were told that we will stay like this until the cleaning vehicle gets to us tomorrow. Since I was trapped for the night I figured I might as well read this thing. Needless to say I stayed up until 4:00 AM reading, at the time last page was 1449.In awe from the awesomeness that I was presented with I quickly sought out the forum. For the longest time I've just been reading what other people say without making a post myself, eventually I made my first post in I saw an opportunity thread. Ever since then I was addicted to binge reading the entire comic. That's why I re-read it every year at the same time, trying to capture the same magic that captivated me back then. And now as January comes to an end, so will I leave the Gunnerkrigg Court in its entirety until the next year, and the next winter.
See ya all in 2018(unless something happens to me D8)

It was a dark and stormy day when my youthful, naive self was introduced to the powers of The Internet, and it was an even darker and stormier day, some years later, when I was introduced to Deviantart at an age when impressionable pre-teens really shouldn't be introduced to Deviantart. I spent many an empty procrastinator's hour lurking and looking through all the amazing and all the horrible works... (Truly, a dark, dark time ) UNTIL! I ran into an account by the name of Illeity, and found there a one page comic that would change my life forever! (but no, really, it was lovely) "Gunnerkrigg Court?", I thought, "Sounds magical, thoughtful and a bit lonely ... Imma go check it out." And it was thus, after two years of a search I wasn't even aware I was conducting, that on one cold february night of 2014 I binge read all of Gunnerkrigg Court, way up to page 1309, I think. I was up 'till the wee hours. I had school that morning. I regretted nothing.
All the dramatisation aside... Hi! I'm Iver! (read it like an 'ay', read it like an 'ee', really my friend, it's all the same to me) It's a pleasure to finally join The Forum! I'm a twenty something, six foot tall attempt at an electrical engineering student who has no intention of giving up anytime soon. I love almost all kinds of music, especially Doomtree's album "No Kings" and Hugh Laurie's album "Let them talk". I also love to read, but that particular addiction has been postponed until I figure out how to pass the more demanding of my exams... Fun times. (Though, I can say, if you're in the market for a long book and you have the patience - I recommend Dostoyevsky's ''Crime and punishment''. I though it was a boring book where an old Russian man just shakes his finger at you and warns you to be good - but hooo-boy, was I ever wrong!) No favorite board games to speak of, but I am quite fond of the 'Association' game I sometimes play with my friends (one says random words, and the other says the absolutely first thing that falls on their mind; it's fun if you play with someone who won't answer "image of a [thing]" when you say "[thing]"... of course, you can use abstract terms too). My favourite chapter of GC is, and has always been, "Microsat 5" and my favourite character is good ol' Renard - if not for his general personality, then for his toy-form humor. Guess that would be it, huh... Oh! And before I forget, I would like to thank one of you lovely forum members (no idea what your (user)name is, sorry, I wasn't paying attention at the time...) from the deepest depths of my musical taste buds for introducing me to Dessa! It took a while to get hooked on her music, first The Crow, and then the rest of the songs, but once I did there was no turning back. She later brought me to Doomtree whose music gave me comfort and courage in some less than desirable times, which is also pretty cool, so thanks for that as well, I guess
