I think this page pretty much confirms Forest Annie is the real one. Rolling over is nothing compared to the back flip.

Isn't this a good thing?
I know they're technically still kids, but my first instinct would be like "Great! Hopefully Coyote can undo this so we can have both memories together."
Judging from their expressions, though, I don't think that'll be the case.

Almost didn't see the speed lines in panel 3. Are we gonna see a repeat of the fourth panel of this page?

Those sidelong glances are becoming quite the thing. I suppose Annie has never developed too high an opinion of herself.
I wonder what will happen if they ever touch?

You mean, what will happen if one's Antimony and the other's Anti-mony? Try to imagine every slashfic writer on the internet stopping instantaneously and every molecule in their keyboards exploding at the speed of light.

If Coyote can split, or duplicate the fire spirit in order for both to be the real one. . .
Could Coyote have saved Surma?

Renard, I love you, please stay awhile. You somehow went from a possibly evil snarky sidekick, to the calm rational voice of reason. I miss you in this story. Any version of you.

Well aside from it being the result of of a trickster, yeah best comparison I can think of is Riker from Star Trek TNG where they're both genuine and the extra Annie is basically just a new family member. Those sidelong glances are becoming quite the thing. I suppose Annie has never developed too high an opinion of herself. I wonder what will happen if they ever touch? In other words, you're asking what the result is of First Contact?

Reynardine's remark about Loup's lack of forethought strikes me as a good grasp of Loup's character - and I think indeed that was what was involved here. I still suspect that he made the second Annie or split Annie in two or whatever he did simply because he wanted the Court to leave him alone and stop sending search parties into the woods. I doubt that he thought far enough in advance to what would happen after that (and certainly wouldn't care).
(It does provide a potential hitch in his demand of the bone and water, by making the person delivering that message is automatically suspect, but he probably figured he could break into the Court now that his forces can get in underground, bypassing the force field, and simply take the objects.)

Rather than a split, I lean more towards Short-haired Annie being a duplicate - or more precisely, a time duplicate. Her being a fake/clone/copy/impostor/"pirated version" is obviously out of the window. Told ya, both Fannie and Courtnie are the real deal. Do I get a cookie?

Reynardine's remark about Loup's lack of forethought strikes me as a good grasp of Loup's character... Conversely, If Rey is also right about what Loup expects, that both Annies will come running to him begging to fix this, then Loup doesn't know (or care about) miss Antimony "I solve all my problems myself, thank you" Carver 2 at all.

His attempts at getting her to stay in the forest were certainly clumsy - especially the switching to the temptation/lure approach *after* he'd tried threatening the Court. Once you've shown yourself ready to rain destruction on a place with enthusiasm, it makes blandishments seem shabby and hollow.

Thank you, Tom, for not having us sit through an exposition scene before the test.
By the way, even doing the test is another sign, that Courtney and Fannie think alike. They both immediately thought of the same way to resolve the issue.

I wonder if being split will have a detrimental effect on the fire spirit inside Annie. Like it did when it was passed from Surma to her.

So am I the only one thinking that this would actually be a really cool plot concept to carry the rest of GC forward? What's the expectation of the story? Annie and Annie solve the problem and unite into one, thus resolving all emotional conflict... But that's kinda... boring?
Wouldn't it be incredible if we just had 2 Annies forever? Imagine the weird dynamics in the relationship as they go about solving the problem Annie's way or Annie's way, and working out how they can exert their influence when they're twice as vocal about their objectives (when working together).
Stories like these always revert to the mean, as in they put everything back to normal, save for "the changes the characters went through," but it has that sitcom vibe to it.

Anyone surprised by anything in today's update? Yes! Tony's house is FURNISHED! Also: I bet Tony cooks. Because we could tell Surma probably never did, Annie lived her whole young life in the hospital, and Tony has at least a stir fry recipe he can make.
