A funny thing I noticed, not on reread, but on needing a simple HTML page to test something... The HTML of this page has a typo: <html> <head> </vead> <body> More like shutXup. </body> </html>Seems to fit Zimmy's mood.

The pan out in panel 3 to show the back of Robot's head here is... interesting. As always I love dipping back in and rereading this comic. There's so much to appreciate www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1834

There's so much to appreciate www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1834And an early page shows that he is conscious and speaking. The door was cracked and I think it safe to assume Robot heard the whole conversation about the arrow. How would a religious fanatic file that away for the future?

Simple: Will go Ysengrin way: reapproriate/steal the God's strenght (the Arrow on this case) and force Kat to rise as the TechnoAngel Goddess again, maybe impaling her with it. Love makes you act in strange ways, and it would be worth it.

Now that we know a lot more about Gamma and a little more about Zimmy, and some more about how Tom imagines merging to work, I am struck how much Jenny seems to be a Zimmy plus Gamma sort of person... or you could, alternatively, think of Gamma as Jenny with the Zimmy removed, or... you know what I mean

Having looked that up... "I'll save you little girl" is a phrase cackled by an over-hyped Annie as she jumps out of the cherry tree after Kat (who's fallen out) It's repeated by Kat when she rescues Annie from the Annan Waters. (At a stretch, it could also be construed as referring to Jeanne, who departed when Kat appeared.)

If we're posting tear-jerker pages, for me, it's always been this one. At least, Tom's caption haunts my thoughts, like, keeps-me-awake-at-night haunting: "He still loves you very much." Annie always wondered about the still.

Yeah, I probably should have created a separate post for the tearjerkers.

This title page for Ch. 20 has some hella foreshadowing. The glowy eye over Annie's head? The sword with a sun behind it, suggesting it may be Coyote's tooth and will be possibly used by EGLAMORE??? Or Parley? Is the gear symbol meant to stand for Robot –– or for the TikTok that KO'd on the ravine?

Love makes you act in strange ways, and it would be worth it. If Kat tries to abdicate her role as angel, perhaps Robot will contemplate using it to force her not to. But how? Imprisoning her within it would make it impossible for her to act as angel. He seems to want the angel role himself – what if he uses it to transfer his consciousness into Kat's body, putting hers somewhere else, into his body or into a waiting but unoccupied android body, perhaps. And then ... Robot hasn't heard Saslamel's threat to Kat that anyone who misuses the arrow will be dealt with harshly. Perhaps the Arbiter will then put Robot-in-Kat's-body into his jail.

Or Parley? Is the gear symbol meant to stand for Robot –– or for the TikTok that KO'd on the ravine? Random thoughts about this: - The eye is probably Coyote's, as he's literally had his eye on her in some treatise pages.
- The arrow in the water!
- Ysengrin's arm reaching out, barring the way to the Forest.
- The gear is on the Forest side of the Annan Waters, so it could represent the Tic-Toc or perhaps Robot in his early visit to the Forest.
- Annie's in Jeanne's location. I keep seriously wondering whether the Court's going to try to use Annie as a Jeanne replacement.
- Parley did use Coyote's tooth. Those rays look kind of like the teeth around Annie's wrist in chapter 38. Or not. Or yes? I've often wondered whether Coyote's tooth represents the power he used to divide the Court from the Forest, so by giving it away he's denied that power to Loup. But here it's represented as a claw, not a tooth, so I'm not sure ...

with Annie on the Court side of the Annan, the arrow in the water, and the gear representing the tic-toc (which Ys is reaching out to grab!), that would make the "eye" to be Jeanne, the ever-watchful Guardrian of the Annan crossing.... (Annie is trying to help Jeanne, while Eggs stands in opposition to Ys)

" You will be more than powerful enough to shape this world when all my gifts are returned." When. Not if. When. What world is "this world?" The Ether. That's where they're talking. Who shapes the Ether? Dead beings, when spirit guides take them finally into the Ether. What's likely to be the last gift returned? Probably Coyote's tooth/dagger, "returned" to Loup the moment it kills him – at which point he will indeed have the power to shape the Ether. One final time. All speculation, of course.

Thanks to a link posted above, I just realized that Sky Watcher is on the very short list of characters who have narrated this comic. (The list also contains Annie, Coyote, and... anyone else? I don't count stuff like this because it's a character telling a story to other characters, not narrating directly.)
