I'm probably reading too much into this on retrospect, but on page 111, after Reynardine makes his creepy remark, Annie gets angry while Kat seems terribly embarrassed, blushing and hiding her face.

What are you reading into it. I think there are two causes at least: difference of personality in terms of reactions to offences (Kat is more easily hurt by them, Annie fights back more easily); difference of relation to Rey. Annie is reacting to the ill-behaviour of her... um... servant, or pet, or... Or think of it in this way: you see two adults speaking of something. The mischievous kid of one of them makes a snide remark. The person who is not the parent of the child will react to the remark, possibly being embarrassed by it. The parent will react, foremostly and at least on the surface, to the fact that his/her child makes such remarks, disciplining the kid. I see this being a bit of such a situation. Of course, the difference may be just that Kat felt the offence because she was being a bit gay, whereas Annie was her asexual little self and just thought Rey is being mean.

Definitely foreshadowing though. Interesting that Tom had this planned out this far in advance. I kind of got the feeling that the Paz/Kat romance was a sub-plot he thought up as he went, but apparently not.

Hmm, just reading back in The Stone chapter ( I think I joined the forums around halfway through this chapter as the suspense of What IS Jones was killing me) On the "several years ago" page www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1097 , Eglamore is angry and upset as to why Surma went off with Tony and not him, just looking back at it now and he seems to be wearing oddly formal clothes, the unshaven stubble, and that bag on the floor. It looks to me like he has been off in the military for some time, and has just returned to find that Surma has left the court with Tony. It sort of makes sense in a way, he is the court's protector and so would be likely to have professional training as well as just swordsmanship, and also may explain why he is a Sir, if he served honourably and did something out-of-the-ordinary in the army then he may well have been knighted for his services. Judging by the time points, when would this be, the 80's perhaps? The Falklands War? Also gives another reason why she may have gone off with Tony, Eglamore left the court for some time to serve in the army, he wouldn't have been there and Surma may not have wanted to wait for him for so long, especially after he helped capture Renard, and is now off becoming a soldier and helping to kill people. Anyway, just a thought.

Either the Falklands or Africa with Executive Outcomes. They liked to wear khaki a lot while operating, and those look an awful lot like goretex jungle boots he's got his pants bloused over.
Then again, he was probably off hunting dragons or something.

Well they do mention that he's away training a lot. Could be relevant.

p.78: Kat's alarm goes "meow" instead of beeping.

I noticed that they did, I never really understood the significance though. Does anyone have an idea?

Maybe it's her snapping and not covering up her emotions at that point in time? Personally I always thought it was just some transition thing. Reading through this topic kinda makes me rethink how observant I am..I noticed on first read and assumed other people did as well

I think it was supposed to signify chronological transitipn inside Annie's dreamscape from real life events that took place in winter to ones that happened in summer.

The homework..jup, sounds about right. From what I remember that's more than a year there, but the seasons check out. * makes a mental note to do a second archive+threads binge at some point

Not really a story detail, but I was screwing around with the archive and and found this nice little flash animation on the site. I'm guessing someone else already found it, but I wasn't aware of it.

GK Sierra pointed it out in another thread. But yeah, it's a great little Easter Egg. The music is great and it totally captures the spirit of the Court.

I was reading through old comics and just realized that maybe Red and Blue are kind of fairy analogs to Annie and Kat. Annie's color is red, Kat's is blue, they are super close, always together, and yet there's no evidence that there's anything romantic or sexual about it. And there's that one time when Kat gets frustrated with Annie and Annie goes through a bunch of shenanigans to win her back, which is similar to how Red goes frantic and has to get her hair to stick back up before Blue will be friends with her again earlier on. Might be a bit of a stretch, but I thought it was neat.

This guy I know likes nearly everything I post on any social media site, and he knows I'm into Gunnerkrigg. I wouldn't put it past him to follow me here. But you're probably not him, and I don't mean to pick on you.

On a totally different topic, every damn time I read the title of this thread, I think it says 'Cool things I only noticed on renard' - fur, glowing yellow eyes, antimony symbol, etc.
Anyone else have this problem?
