Yes indeed, my pages are out of order. And I suppose the press isn't planning on a second printing, am I right? If we can get our money back, is there also a chance that you can get all the extra copies from them and sell them yourself? I mean if they will refuse to keep distributing or shops to order them 'cause of the printing error, of course, unless you want box after box full of hardback misprints lying around your house. And it probably wouldn't be worth it unless you attend conventions frequently, or start promoting yourself full-time. Anyway, the book is still lovely, as far as I'm concerned. And if I can get money back, or a discount on buying another copy for a friend, as long as the money doesn't come from you, Tom, so much the better! If you get your money back you will of course have to return the book. All books that aren't sold will be kept by the publisher and then I guess destroyed if they can't sell them. If the cost of the initial print run isn't met through sales then I might have to foot the bill myself, which would be very costly. The thing about the pages that are swapped though, is that it doesn't really mess the story up too much. I guess someone who hasn't read it on-line wouldn't notice (and really, nobody did notice). It might be best to just leave it as it is. The book is made, so I'd rather just focus on the next one. People collect misprinted editions of books because they're unique to that printing, before the publishers correct it--therefore we should all buy them up and be smug when GC because massive! I'm going to my comicbook shop and ordering it. In fact, I'm ordering 3 because 2 RL friends want copies too!

I've got my copy on order from the local bookstore, though it hasn't come in yet (I ordered it on Thursday morning).
It'll be worth comparing what it's like to read the stories all at once, rather than page by page as on the Internet. (I think that one difference is that you're more likely to focus on the overall story when you read it as a whole, while when you read it one page every two days, the attention is usually drawn more towards the "gag of the day".)

I got my copy from Amazon yesterday; I'm around the Dallas, TX area. As soon as I got it out of the package, I sat down and read through it. It's an entirely different feel in book form, but I like it just as much. I've noticed a lot of extra details now that they're on paper and I can hold it close to my face without seeing pixels. Plus, no download wait time! This is definitely the book I will read to my kids in the event that I have kids. Lucky thing that it ended up being those particular pages that were switched. I only noticed because I read through the archives so often, but it doesn't interrupt the story at all. I wasn't even sure if they *were* misprinted at first. Another thing I noticed was that the dialogue in the last panel on page 142, online page 144, is changed. It's not that it bothers me, as it fits in just fine, but I thought it was odd. Did you condone this change, Tom?

Yeah, that was my change. Oh yes, so it does, may we be as bold to ask why? Because it sounded nicer on the part of the adults, or because of some underlying plot point we dont yet know? I can make a conspiracy theory out of just about anything.

Basically because if Annie had died then Reynardine would have been set free. Anja would have know this.

I remember it was brought up once that the Donlans must have been certain that Annie was still alive, or they would never have let Kat go off in search of her by herself - to find her best friend's broken body at the bottom of the Annan ravine.

Just got it yesterday, opened it today. Gotta love the feel of a cold, glossy book that arrived just for you!
Now your spiders can buy several ham sandwiches. You can too!

Amazon and UPS say my book will be here on Wednesday. It was such a pleasant surprise to check my e-mail and see the book I ordered last May has finally shipped. Hooray.

I pre-ordered a copy of the book from Amazon.com, but never received it. I checked my account history, and the pre-order has disappeared, so it looks like I'll be re-ordering.

I got mine today!!! I haven't noticed if any pages are out of order yet, but I did notice that the colors are SLIGHTLY darker than they are online. Slightly is caps'd cuz it's really that slight. I can't wait for the next book, even though that should theoretically be at least 7-8 more chapters away... (assuming 14~15 chapters per book...)

I got mine a few days ago and just got to reading it today and noticed that the binding section for pages 139 to 154 was repeated in place of the section for pages 155 to 170. Annoyingly enough this actually cut out one of my favorite parts of the story! From reading the earlier posts in this topic I'm concerned that requesting a replacement from the publisher might cause problems for Mr. Siddell since it sounds like the deal he got with the publisher was a little raw. I'd like a complete copy, though. Does anyone think I should request a replacement, or should I just ask for it for my birthday or something and hope the copy I get has all its pages?
On a related note, I didn't even notice that the two pages near the end were swapped. Heck, he could have swapped the pages online and then I would have never known...

If you have a copy with a large printing error, such as multiple sections reprinted, or printed badly, pages missing or flipped, things like that, you should be able to request a swap from the place you bought it from. That kind of thing happens to books once in a while so I would hope there is no problem with getting a proper version. If I had copies myself I would just send you one, but for now I think your best bet is wherever you got it from.

I hold in my hands a hardback copy of Gunnerkrigg Court, Volume 1: Orientation. It was delivered via Amazon.com
Yay, it looks beautiful I didn't realize it would be a hardback... This is getting added to my collection of prestige books. =)

I just got a package from Amazon! Could it be....? UPDATE: It is, IT *IS* my copy of the book! It's wonderful! A treat for all the senses! (well, maybe not taste. I haven't tried eating it yet. It does smell lovely, though.) One question: what are the little pictures that appear on the back inside panel of the dust jacket (the one with the "about the author" info)? The ones that seem to be kids' drawings of a bear, a detailed, labeled human eye, and a bird laughing at someone? ...man, this really is just a great book. I'm definitely glad I bought it.

I ordered mine through Amazon today since after a week my local (well, regional I should say) comic store didn't do shit about it, and low and behold it shipped a few hours later.
Now to wait 18-30 days for international shipping to mainland Europa, I hope this passes through customs smoothly then I should have it in a week. =p

I hope that the copy I get from Left Bank Books (the bookstore in my neighborhood that I ordered "Gunnerkrigg Court: Orientation" from) doesn't have the kind of errors that johaanfaust's does. (Though I think we should be grateful that the book came out at last - and doubly grateful that Archaia didn't mysteriously vanish, followed by people who looked suspiciously similar to its staff members being sighted on the streets of New York City, stopping passers-by with the question "Want to buy the Brooklyn Bridge?")

My copy from Amazon arrived today, and I couldn't help but dust off my old forums account so I could talk about it here. A lot of folks have mentioned that the feel is completely different from the online version, and I have to agree. I can't really describe it, but it's nice to be able to see how each page flows from one to the next, when you can see them all lined up beside each other. I don't buy a lot of web-comic related merchandise, but I am very happy with this purchase. It's definitely going to be on my bookshelf for a long time.

i'm in vancouver, canada. just got the notification from amazon.ca to expect it jan 20th. can't wait jh just got it! amazon (for once) was dead on for the delivery estimate. too tired to look through it for the problems mentioned, but it is shiny, and since shiny things please me greatly, consider me ecstatic ha ha, now i can't wait for book 2 it's so much more satisfying to flip through the real thing. in addition, holding an actual physical product makes it even easier to appreciate all the time and effort that you have put into gunnerkrigg. it really is something... thank you. jh

New reader here. Just got my copy in the mail today. Looks great. Amazon popped up a suggestion to pre-order this book when I was browsing and it seemed interesting. I found the website after I ordered. Been enjoying the story so far.

Got it! It looks absolutely fantastic! I like its size, it feels like you're holding a 'normal' book. It's definately in my top ten of all the comic books I own (and I have about 4,000).

My book came yesterday via Amazon. Hooray. My wife, who has never read the comic before, immediately pilfurred it and read it straight through. I'm sure she'll be finding her way to the website today to finish her indoctrination.
the book looks beautiful, no apparent printing problems, one minor folding error in the dustjacket, but that's just the risk you take when you buy a book online sight unseen.
So when's the next one coming out?
