Post here if you get a copy of the book. I've not seen an actual copy myself, but I gather Gunnerkrigg Court: Orientation has popped up in a few places. If you see one, or even have one, I would like to know.
Did it print okay? Are the pages in order? etc.

I received a copy of the book today. I am in Colorado, and I ordered the book via Diamond Comics. Yay for me! It looks great, Tom - Thanks so much for holding out for this. I can't wait to get volume 2!

I already posted in the SA thread but I got my book today. They were selling it at the New England Comics location in Brookline, Massachusetts. The book is very high quality, and the art, colors, etc. all look great in print.

No... I went to a Barnes & Nobles (in midtown ny) and they told me the "publisher put it on hold"? Noo!! I want a copy! Should we not expect the book from big publishers?

Great. The local amazon website doesn't even have an availability date. If we were to pay all additional fees, would you mind sign a book and ship it yourself ?

I would, no prob. If you want it so, I do it. I'm gonna order it from my local retailer today, might as well get two. just give me a note edit: they said it takes up to 20 days to for shipping from GB to germany maybe it'd be best you'd buy one yourself, though these cheap-ass ASP guys should've sent you some prints on their own. offer still stands, anyway.

i know you don't want a million shipments, but klex brings up an interesting idea - if i shipped you my copy of the book with a postage-paid return envelope, would you be willing to sign the book, tom?

Lets not burn time and money by shipping books back and forth between america* and europe. If Tom buys the books, you save the shipping costs to get it to him (which can be significant). If you want to spend that money, donate it.
*or whatever continent you live in.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm not really able to provide that kind of service. Besides, my name should already be printed on the front in much nicer text than my handwriting.
Another question for people who have the book: is there even any white space where a signature would be visible? As far as I know all the pages are black.

i don't have my copy of the book with me now, but i'm sure you are correct, tom, that everything is in black. of course, they do make pens that will write on black background, like silver gel pens and things of that sort. i'm sure you're aware that your handwriting has little to do with how valuable (at least intrinsically) a signed book copy would be to fans, but i understand that would be a huge pain as an open invitation. if it is something you might be willing to do as a more economically stimulating endeavour, feel free to pm me with information.
nikita - thanks for your liberal opinion. i'm fully aware of the costs involved, though, and perhaps it's things like this that might just make me willing to donate (more).

Well you can kind of see the white strings binding the pages together at the centerfold of each signature, but the pages themselves are all black

Update on the B&N thing, I went to several stores in the city and they were all saying it's out of print. Then, I went to the B&N in Union Sq. (NYC, natch) which is usually better for comics and she was like "ah it's out of print and it's a year old and we can't order it" I told her "but it only came out this week," and she replied with "oh okay... Looks like we can order one for you then." I don't know why the change in pace, but for anyone ordering or buying from B&N, maybe they have the same response to prevent orders from small publishers or something, and all you have to do is convince them. Just be a little pushy! And I saw one copy of Gunnerkrigg Court in the comic store on 33rd! I didn't buy it there cause i had gotten some B&N giftcards for xmas, but it is in the comic stores! It was shrinkwrapped, so I couldn't check out the quality, but it looks like a very beautiful tome. Great job!

I did not get a copy of the book, but I did see it on the shelves of Forbidden Planet in Manhattan, New York. I did get an extended look at it, and in my opinion everything has been executed perfectly.
I intended to purchase it, but I did not have the funds. I will return soon to buy it. Congratulations on your publishing!

I don't get why you would bother ordering it through B&N. They need to get it shipped to the store, then will sell it at cover price. You can order through Amazon for a discount and cut out the middle-man.

Forbidden Planet is very close to the Union Square Barnes & Noble, so if any New York people couldn't find it there walk over to the other side of Union Square Park and try Forbidden Planet-- it's just across the street from Virgin IIRC.

Forbidden Planet, you say? There's a Forbidden Planet in Dublin that imports most of it's stock from America rather than the UK. It's a long shot, but I'm going to go see if they've got it. I'll post it up here if I'm succesful

Amazon told me to expect it Feb. 5, but then again I did ask for the cheapest delivery.

First sighting in Europe! I just picked the book up at " Bonner COMIC Laden" in Bonn, Germany. The charged a rather steep EUR 24,99 (at least compared to the listed Amazon price), but under the circumstances that was well worth it. I was rather impressed when I asked them if they maybe could import it and they told me they had it on stock. It was the only copy they had, though. But they told me they can always order more, if people are interested. I only had a quick look at the book yet, but believe me Tom, the quality of it is superb. Not "okay" or "good", superb. The print is rich, glossy and sharp as a razor and the pages are cut precisely.

I am on a road trip across the USA and i randomly stopped into a comic book store in Dallas, TX and to my great surprise saw a copy of it sitting on the shelves. It was a nice little bonus to this road trip. Its nice to see such care in producing the comic into this very nice hardcover (and lots of content) book.

Just fyi, the book should be available in all branches of Forbidden Planet (and there are quite a few) - I know there's stock at HQ because I remember photocopying some pages while on work experience there (coincidentally enough, before even discovering the comic!). Then again, I'm in the UK, and I'm not sure if all/any of the abroad branches still get supply from us... Still, it's a reasonable bet, and be sure to ask about it if it's not on the shelves. Once I'd realised what I'd handled, I felt tingly inside - I think the comic's wonderful, so please keep up the good work!
Cheers, Mobius

That's odd. I stopped in at the Birmingham Forbidden Planet after work today and not only did they not have it, but the guy said none of the branches have it. He looked on the computer. That is odd! I'm 99% sure I remember what I handled (and that it wasn't a dream), and as Chris said, there is some stock with FP International... I can only suppose none of the books have made it to shops yet, though I have no idea why this would be the case. Perhaps you're stuck in warehouse hell, waiting for a spot on a shelf, or maybe the stock was supplied to somewhere else (i.e. Chris' Manhattan), or maybe you're sold out already! I do apologise if it turns out I was lying >_>
