did anyone else notice there seems to be two gunnerkrigg court entries? i did a search for gunnerkrigg and it brought up the one in 6th place and another in 337th (with 35 votes) I haven't been following the site much, but it's probably the one that they replaced at the end of december because no one knew who created the original entry.

Why is it that I'm not seeing massively popular web-comics like Penny Arcade, XKCD, or Cyanide and Happiness in there? I would have though those would have been in the top 20 at least, but I don't see them at all. Any body got an answer?
And for that matter, why is a comic about, and I quote:
"A story about a clueless hero and a mischievous tigergirl trying to sort out their feeling for each other. Can they really find true love without killing each other first?"
at #1 out of 100 webcomics?!

Because they didn't enter themselves.
Because the incentive is apparently really good. I wouldn't know.

But I thought that GC was posted by someone else other than Tom, or am I just wrong like usual? It seems like ones as popular as them would be posted by somebody.

"A story about a clueless hero and a mischievous tigergirl trying to sort out their feeling for each other. Can they really find true love without killing each other first?"! Wow, it really does say "sort out their feeling". That's a tad embarrassing. Ben

It was. I wouldn't know the situation with other webcomics though. They may have consciously decided against entering TWC and might have told their fans so.

Half way the month and we're at # 7. Not bad, but I think we should be able to overtake GirlGenius. I am currently voting twice a day from two separate pc's. and no that's not cheating, it's dedication!

I kind of think this placement of GC in the top ten might've brought some new readers. With the release of the book, that's auspicious timing. I still wish there was a banner.

It'll definitely be interesting to see what effect – if any – toplists have on views. I've personally never read a webcomic because it was high on a top list site, and I rarely go to them because all those competing banners make them look gaudy and unappealing in general. And that's coming from someone who follows around 35 webcomics.
But I don't know if that's a normal view or an abnormal view. So Tom, if you bother to keep track of your site numbers, have you seen a notable increase lately? Or has your unknowing inclusion in the Top 10 all been for naught?

It's just that I noticed an influx of new fans on the forums, but I might be wrong there. Anyway, if anyone did come because they discovered the comic via top ten, they could say so. Personally I do click on comics on that list to find new ones, even the ones below top ten.

I should know cause I'm on Buzz at uhmm... 181! >.O I also don't get how some people get on buzz comics really easily it seems, and some comics are lagging behind when they are really good quality. I know before Buzz reset their counters though, I was behind tons of people whose latest update was in 2007 or something, I guess it's a somewhat inaccurate system of deciding who's top. That description... is hilarious. I can just imagine it now. *shudder*

Well, at least the Phoenix Requiem is back at #1. I'm not the biggest fan of the comic, but I'm glad that it, rather than other alternatives is first place.

I wish we could put up a banner and a description. All the other top 10 have them.

Can they really find true love without killing each other first?" at #1 out of 100 webcomics?! I often have similar thoughts about certain TV shows, movies, or music. Quite possibly the simplest answer is that they're good and they strike a chord with their target audience. There's a lot of Web Comics on the list that I don't care for, but that doesn't make them poor comics. Many of them are quite good. They just deal with subjects that don't interest me.

Actually the TWC board has helped me find many comics that i love, including this Gunnerkrig court, i vote for Gunner everyday so i can help other people find this wonderful comic.

I am satisfied, I think. Yes, we could be higher up the list. But why? Being at the top rarely lasts more than a few weeks.

I think it's good that GC is consistently among the top ten. That's already pretty good exposure to attract new readers. I just really wish there was a banner, so that GC isn't lost on the list. Incentives aren't necessary - look at how well GC is doing even without them.

Yeah, but TKT has a very small number of votes behind us so we'd better watch out.

I can't seem to access topwebcomics.com, it tells me that an error occurred and my request could not be completed.
I'm glad we finally got ahead of TKT, though.

Girl Genius is definitely Top 10 material, in fact, the only one I consider worthy to compete with GC.
Two Kinds, description notwithstanding, is an okay read, though Gunnerkrigg trumps it by a long shot. The only other one I've read up there is Goblins, which is an amusing take on D&D goblins and how they attempt to become more than just NPCs. Currently going through a serious phase.

A new month, so all counters have been reset. Currently GC is at #14. An unworthy position, so let's move back into the top 10, shall we?!

We've made it back to the top 10, and in the space of a day have gone from #13 to #9 in the standings! Let's see if we can get back to #7. By the way, does anyone know what was the best standing GC ever got in the list? Best I ever saw was #6.

When we did the first few minutes of the new voting month, we got up to #3, but that probably doesn't count.

What I do is, the very link I use to access the comic or this forum goes through the TWC vote contraption. That way I vote at least once a day (on occasion twice for I am at a dynamic IP). Dilligence, folks! This is but a temporary setback on our glorious mission.
