Next week: the gang confronts Tony, ready to fight to convince him to let them use The Device. Tony offers no resistance and simply leads them to his office, where he turns on his monitor to reveal a gigantic spreadsheet. Can Kat master macros in time to save the world?

I wonder if the Omega device is going to have some new things to "say" about Kat when she's in close proximity – namely, regarding that legendary mechalike goddess aspect.

So the end of the World and History is about Tony's computer running out of Swap space, uh.

Using a machine called "Omega device" to find someone seems an overkill, don't you girls have like phones or facebook?

They probably have a dozen different ways to find Zimmy. Kat just wants to mess with the Omega Device. Can you blame her? I guess I'd ask it a series of increasing complex paradoxes. There's no way that could end poorly.

how dare p=724 lie to us like this this is an outrage! Pretty sure tracking through the food is simply the most convenient way for mass surveillance (Jones only said "generally" after all). We don't know yet how complex it is to operate the Omega Device, or to interpret the results it spits out.

Oh! You know, it occurs to me that one of the problems I remember being mentioned for being able to predict the whole universe is the device's size would have to be ginormous on a universal scale, but the entire court exists outside normal space dimensions entirely

I am sure that I remember that from the early days. I think this is Kat making excuses to see what she wanted to see already.

Don't know what she eats, though... Given that the Angel reveal had the Angel with wires going to her eyes... And Zimmy's sensitivity to being tracked... And her relationship with time being distinctly not linear... They may accidentally scare Zimmy bad. Which given that she's expecting Court action coming soon - this may go sideways at mach 12.

I don't like where this is going.
I could imagine them messing with the omega device could make things go pear shaped in different ways.
It may cause the court to find Zimmy faster, getting to her first.
It might cause Zimmy to go haywire, as others suggest.
It might cause the start of... Divine Kat

Does anyone think Kat might be planning to do something with the Omega device that the Court never thought of doing? Could it be something to do with what Gamma said about her stopping the Court from going down a sinister path?

The only things we know about the Omega device are that it is able to predict the future and that it is supposed to enable the court to see into the ether. We're missing a lot of detail about both capabilities. Limitations and scope and such... Oh, and we're pretty sure Omega is a computer (or computer program). Or at least it started out that way!
How much of the future can it predict, and how far out? Do you have to write queries or is there a model running all the time and you can just look at it? I believe the slug sex event that Tony and Surma witnessed was an example of the kind of precise prediction it can make, but I'm wondering whether the court can just browse around and find something or if they have to ask it what will happen at a specific date and time and place. Or maybe it's the other way around and they had a prediction of something important involving slugs and walked back through the model until they found that event? No idea really but I'm really curious about how this all works!
For the ether access capability, I'm very curious indeed about that! Can anyone use it? Can you throw it up on a display? That could be creepy. This is so different from the future prediction capability that it seems odd to me. The prediction stuff doesn't do well when the ether gets involved (see problems caused by Annie not dying as predicted) yet Omega can also look into the future? Are both of those things really the same device?

This is implying the court showed her stuff they made in trying to convince her. You gave a god ideas on what can be done and she'll do that and more in far less time

A thought: If Kat goes looking for the court's pride and joy, Omega, and tries to use it... might that not get a reaction from the court? Guess we're going to find out what they really know about her and her robots soon!
Also, can Omega really find Zimmy when it couldn't find Loup? Assuming that was true, of course. I suspect that just hacking into the food-tracking system might be easier and provide better results.

how dare p=724 lie to us like this this is an outrage! Oh dear. Kat's about to make things a whole lot worse. Kat's expression in that last panel does seem to have a mad scientist vibe to it. And as Schlock Mercenary teaches us in Maxim 14: "Mad science" means never stopping to ask "what's the worst thing that could happen?"
Related musing: Could Omega have predicted that Kat is a mecha-goddess and orchestrated events to attract her to itself?
