Am I starting to see a bit of a rift between "Jerrek" and "Loup"? That might be relevant later.

Am I starting to see a bit of a rift between "Jerrek" and "Loup"? That might be relevant later. Yeah, it does look like Loup has a hard time keeping his decoy personality under control.

Also, notice how Loup speech box has 2 indicators, meaning it was "said" by ...2 persons?

the start of a split personality? Also potentially the start of Loup/Jerek's creepiness starting to get noticed by Annie?
"If I wanted something, I wouldn't let anyone tell me I couldn't have it" Is a dangerous, and very creepy, thing to say when you are both very powerful and lusting after the person standing in front of you.

WHAT As Adam Warren put it, a "profile cheat." The profile cheat is "a technically inaccurate side view of a character’s face as they react to something in the background, rather than a more strictly 'realistic' view that would not, in fact, show their face or their expression." Background here means anything behind the character in the foreground who's profile is being "cheated."

circumstances seem to keep offering Annie suitors who are either robots or possessed individuals. Here we have someone who is BOTH!

Just a tidbit about drawing comics. If there's another name for that technique I've never heard it.

Loup dumping his infatuation with Annie into his roboboy avatar, in hindsight, may have been a mistake.

I'm just a Keeper Of Odd Knowledge. [edit] And I plan to continue making such posts in the future. Frankly, I’m creeped out that Jerrek takes Annie’s hand, blushing, immediately after he says he doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.

It's hard to quite tell if hand-holding is occurring, or if she is trying to politely swat his hand away for getting into her personal space again. She looks unamused in the final two panels either way.
Bets on next page, in no particular ranking (and only half serious) - (a sudden jump cut to another scene) - "You can come with me to look at the water from the shore tonight." "REALLY?" "A few other students and I have occasional observation outings, so you may come along." "oh." - (several panels of dead silence and awkward staring) - "alright Loup this charade has gone on long enough" (said by either Annie or Jerrek) - "Okay, good luck with that!" (she calls while waving over her shoulder and jogging away, already 50 feet into the distance)

It's also something that would immediately enrage Loup if he heard anyone else say it. So far Jerrek's Asserted His Dominance in front of Lana, who didn't appreciate it, so he complained to Renard, who advised him to try humility instead, so he attacked Renard, which embittered Annie, as she just told him a few seconds ago. And now he's doing it at Annie again, just verbally. Narcissism is notoriously hard to treat, because it's so damn hard to convince the narcissist that they're doing things wrong in the first place.

Huh. My first thought was that the Jerrek persona is getting independent... but why would Jerrek be suddenly so bent on seeing the Star Ocean?

Huh. My first thought was that the Jerrek persona is getting independent... but why would Jerrek be suddenly so bent on seeing the Star Ocean? Maybe Jerrek isn't so interested, but Loup is and is reassessing his control (and asserting *his* interest). Or... maybe Jerrek, seeing Annie's doubtful look at him taking her hand, is deflecting onto Loup's desired course - making the hand grab about "wanting star ocean" instead of "wanting a fire-haired girl". They sort of amount to the same thing, arrived by different means....

I had personally assumed it was related in some way to Robot-as-angel presenting the embodiment experience as an ocean. Certainly if I had been through a transformational experience like that, oceans would never be the same to me again.

Huh. My first thought was that the Jerrek persona is getting independent... but why would Jerrek be suddenly so bent on seeing the Star Ocean? He's being prodded by Loup. In the same way that The Thing could nudge the human personalities of its hosts to do something counter to what they wanted.

I don't think that this is "split personality" or a "rift" between Jerrek and Loup, but rather that Loup created an entire persona/individual and his original being is riding (and hiding) along like a passenger, only taking full control when he wants to or the need arises.

In my headcanon, in panel 5 Annie is thinking "Try to kiss me and I'll roast you alive, buddy.", and in panel 6 Loup is really saying "Fool! Stop this (or she'll roast you alive)!".

Coyote's "Dead Goose By A Lake" story is less quaint, when he tells you that the goose was a complete creeper.
