I would like my completely pointless haircut cookies. On another note, how organic are the New People's bodies, does their hair and nails grow, the same as human's?

Based on the still visible features on the knuckles, I suspect the dermis is functionally organic but the musculoskeletal structure is a hybrid

We just got it! It's Piter! I'm a bit annoyed it's not properly either Pieter (dutch spelling) or Peter (english spelling). Or even Pitter. What am I supposed to do with that open Pi-!? Is it a short 'i' sound? Or a long 'ie'? This is Loop/Loo all over again in my head! Aaaaaaaah. Btw, this reminds me that I need a haircut.

Lana is a reminder that our friends push us at times, but our best friends know when and how to push us.
On an unrelated note, because Frank Herbert's Dune is on my mind since the release of the movie, the name "Piter" gives me the heebie-jeebies. No way I'd use a barber with that name!

Or maybe, as with Jerrek (Jerry/Derek?), the random feature selection also generates a random recombinant name.

So. Lana's hands still have the visible artificial looking edges like New And Improved Arthur's did. I would like my completely pointless haircut cookies. On another note, how organic are the New People's bodies, does their hair and nails grow, the same as human's?

So she took a long time getting the body just right… but then discovered that what she likes most about it is having great amount of facial muscles? 😛 I would like my completely pointless haircut cookies. It looks like only one robot will get a haircut. I guess that's half a cookie, still good. Huh. Gunnerkrigg cookies are a bit like Dwarf Fortress fun.

I am irrationally and deeply concerned that this young person in need of a haircut used to be a box-bot.
I know our heroes have seen dark days, but accidentally befriending a former box-bot is too much.

Is it me, or was Lana drawn prettier when Annie wasn't around? Is Tom drawing her a bit more homely in order to make Annie shine more?

Plot twist: Jerrek is twice the "age"* of Annie.

Speaking of Annie, any guesses yet about the "guests" she has to see? I would guess that they're beings from the Forest who were rescued after the Loupnami (like the ones in the previous chapter).

Antimony's behavior in the two most recent pages reminds me of when she escorted the Jackalope-transferred boy back to the Forest to reunite with his fairy friend <Snuffle>. In both cases she acts to reassure and encourage someone who just went through a life-changing transformation. And she does this without revealing her own internal emotional turmoil (although admittedly in the first case she does later flare up when provoked).

I'm pretty curious about what the barber robot will look like in his new body. Still many arms with razor blades and knifes and such? I'm not sure I'd want to be his first subject if he's going to try and cut hair in a whole new form!
Picture Doctor Octopus only with knives on each arm, instead of grabbie things, if you dare!

Their hair grows, but what about the rest of their bodies? There seem to be an awful lot of teenage-looking robots here. Are they destined to stay teens for the rest of their lives?

They can probably get new faces and bodies built. You know, assuming they don't erase their creator's memory and send her out to live among the 12 Tribes of Kobol.

I was a bit baffled by this at first. But seeing as they just underwent a radical physical and mental transformation, one that has changed their whole world and opened whole new horizons for them, I guess you could say they are teenagers? I think it's a given that their new bodies will grow and age. What I wonder is whether dying is part of the package, which seems highly likely; I don't think they're going to be thrilled about the prospect.

In the last panel, Lana looks exactly like I'd expect an actor to look who was playing one of the T-Birds singing "Summer Nights" in the musical Grease, heh.

They won't be unfamiliar with that, at least. But death as a necessary corollary of growth? Good question and I would be surprised to discover that any of them, including Robot himself, had considered the interrelationship between the two.

Good question and I would be surprised to discover that any of them, including Robot himself, had considered the interrelationship between the two. Well, he did hold that sermon about "the first of us that died a proper death", with a burial and the first repetition of "It was worth it." and all.
The ancient golem Kat awakened first also wanted to be dead again. So I think the robots can also be weary of life, feel their time has passed etc. And like you said, wearout, malfunctions, accidents etc. will have claimed robotic "lives" before. I don't think they are going to have a problem with the fact that their new minds are mortal. However I am asking myself if any of them considered how awful and drawn out a human death can be.
I also think S13 personally is thrilled by the possibility of being able to die like a human. Fracturing his finger and experiencing pain made him positively excited and zealous. He felt himself "evolving" and preached to the other robots how great it was to have experienced pain and understanding humans better, though some of them remarked that actual humans don't really seem to enjoy pain that much.

If Kat can transfer robot brain into an organic synth-brain, could she do a synth to synth transfer? If so, an NP could be made effectively immortal - you just transfer the brain into a new body when the old one wears out... ...though there may be a problem though if the transfer goes through the green arrow with ownership and such. Clippy returns?
