Valkyrie Regulation #16A: All Valkyries must make sufficiently impressive entrances when summoned.

I think the key thing to take away from Brinnie is that she is looking a lot younger than Anja. And Tony. And I suppose Donald, but this is a comic so all characters are in essence caricatures. His caricature put a larger emphasis on his glasses; glasses do not reveal age.
Time must be working differently in Valhalla.

If Anthony Carver happens to drop by for a visit while Brinnie is around, it would make for an awesome twist to the chapter.

I seriously doubt we'll find out but I can't help but wonder what her opinion of Wagner actually is?

On further reflection, I'm thinking that the heretofore unseen and probably-unnecessary wings are a badge of office of some sort, or a symbol of official status.

As crackle and ozone fade, Brinnie opens eyes. "Dammit, Anja! You know vat time it is in Walhalla!? *YOU VONT TO COME SEE??*"
NB: Annies have heard of Brinnie via Don, but Kat has not, as far as I'm aware.

I love how in panel 1, Anja, with huge grin and clenched fist, looks as excited as a little kid in a candy store....
(someone should avatar that!)

She's a minor deity, belonging to a divine race with access to the Apples of Eternal Youth... why would she age at the same rate as humans? And it reminds me of this Next strip: Brinnie looks at Kat and screams in terror...

Next page: Brinnie: "Wait... Surma had a child? Twice! Does that mean her curse was broken?" Twins might work, but they'd be left with half the fire, take twice the fire out of their mother, or some combination thereof.

I seriously doubt we'll find out but I can't help but wonder what her opinion of Wagner actually is? She'd have to state that he'd gotten some things wrong (much of the Ring Cycle was his invention, of course); the mere fact that she and Odin are still alive rather than consumed in the immolation at the end of the operas is evidence enough of that. Not to mention that her punishment for disobeying Odin in the "Gunnerkrigg Universe" took place in modern times rather than in the mythical past (and post-dated Wagner and his sources, at that), and involved going to school at the Court rather than sleeping inside a ring of fire. Wagner does seem to have been the one to make her original a Valkyrie in the mythological sense (which Tom's following here); the pre-Wagner material suggests that she was more a Valkyrie in the sense of a "warrior-woman", but human. (In some of the Norse accounts, she's even the sister of Atli, a mythified version of Attila the Hun.) (As I mentioned above, and in a past post, Brinnie's punishment taking place in modern times, after the Norse Eddas, the Volsunga Saga, and Wagner's Ring Cycle, were all written, raises the question of how their authors knew about it, if it hadn't happened yet. Maybe more time travel is at work here?)

Incoming armor clad valkyrie about to be pissed that there's no fight going on Nah. The girls deserve the full view of the badass valkyrie. And if she does the magical girl transformation sequence on site that's a bonus! Edit: I'm assuming she'll materialize above the table, hence the "full view", and not in the same space as the table, wrecking it in the process... - Armor clad: check; - Above the table: check; - Girls in awe: check; - Pissed about the absence of a fight: double cookies or nothing on Monday PS: - Magical Girl Brynhildr Valkyrie: I'd like to see that on a bonus page

Quick theory: Brinnie left the Court before Anthony and Surma became a thing, thus we might be in for a near repeat of this scene.
