Given they're going back to the seaside villiage, odds are in favour of Anja, with Tony in second. Which could be a pretty big shock to either of them, given how Anja took seeing the bird when Ys brought it to the Court for the first meeting...

I'm not sure if the mentioned person is supposed to be Tony...but then again, Kat's parents DID want to study that elusive bird some years ago.

Ugh, seeing Paz mentioned still makes me bristle. I hope her confrontation and attempt at intimidation isn't just swept under the rug. Haven't the events of this chapter just proved that Paz WAS right? Recognising Kat's problem long before Annie did, even though her solution was wrong.

Okay, so tired money is on some norm-o like Anja or Donald or, Tom forbid, AnthonyWired money is on Zimmy, Jones, the Headmaster, Alistair (he visited! Cue the guest star applause!), Renard jumping into a TicToc for time shenanigans - anyone else?

I too am betting it is either Tony or Kat's parents.

Haven't the events of this chapter just proved that Paz WAS right? Recognising Kat's problem long before Annie did, even though her solution was wrong. I completely agreed on that front, Annie had to recognize the problems Kat was having. Annie made these mistakes and was afraid to consider that Kat WAS stressed about current and past events, and that her best friend had to push her own feelings aside because of what Annie was going through. When I commented, I was still thinking about how angry I felt at Paz as she claimed Annie didn't deserve to be Kat's best friend (though admittedly she did make mistakes, as mentioned above), that the losses of their school and homes were completely Annie's fault, the intimidation and goading in general... I was vague about it and I apologize. Not that I'm suggesting that there's not even an iota of fault on Annie's side. It's difficult to control a being like Loup, who gives little options. It comes with consequences.

...Zimmy as the 2 to 1 favourite? I don't think it's Zimmy, given how scared she is of Kat's etheric form. ...but I would like it to be her. This girl needs, and perhaps even longs for, being more integrated with the wider society. Working with Kat could be a good first step in that direction.

My first guesses were Robot and Jack.
I feel like either of Kat's parents wouldn't be described by Annie as "another person" who would be saddened to see her upset, and Tony or Zimmy or Jones wouldn't be described as saddened by anything. There's no reason to think Alastair is back or able to communicate.
Robot is of course obsessed with Kat and might know something he hasn't let on yet about the tictocs. Jack knows all kind of sneaky tech stuff and court secrets and likes Kat.

Paz was right about Kat needing help but wrong to react by trying to bully Annie about it and making out it was Annie's fault just for existing. It was the bullying part that made readers not like Paz. Nobody thought she was wrong about Kat being stressed out.

Haven't the events of this chapter just proved that Paz WAS right? Recognising Kat's problem long before Annie did, even though her solution was wrong. She saw there was a problem, but she was completely convinced that the problem was something Annie did. It was just cruel and wrong to tell Annie she didn't deserve to be Kat's friend based on mere assumptions. I admire Annie's restraint and maturity mentioning Paz is worried without all the other stuff Paz said. Personally I would seriously consider breaking up with a gf who threatens and accuses my friends in this manner.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but Paz's solution to the problem sure looked like it was going to be to cut Antimonies out of Kat's life. Paz absolutely was trying to prevent Antimonies from talking to Kat about this. That doesn't necessarily mean Kat would never go ask someone else for help but it might and it would mean more stress for Kat either way. Oh god please don't bring Tony and his contagious and terrifying high tragedy Dr Faustus issues into actually changing the timeline to try to save Annie, oh my god But it's for science! And friendship! Seriously though, if Anja and Don can't solve this one they'll probably get Anthony in on the act.

My guess is Renard, but the last panel shows buildings next to a large body of water similar to the start of this chapter when Annie went to Eglamore's current place. I normally wouldn't put odds on Eglamore/Idra. Maybe Renard is at Eglamore's.

Jack knows all kind of sneaky tech stuff and court secrets and likes Kat. Robot should be in the workshop somewhere, so no need to leave and go back to the housing area. I would like Jack to return to the comic, but I can't remember him having had much interaction with Kat in the past.
Really I find it very confusing said "person" should be able to help "specifically with the robot birds". Even disregarding that said person has to like Kat, nobody comes to mind who should be especially good at finding a way to send robotic birds through time. Anja was at least shown to be interested in studying a Tic-toc. But if it's Anja, it would still be strange to say it as if she was the only other person besides Annie to be saddened by seeing Kat upset. Surely at least both her parents should be equally saddened if they knew (and equally tech-savy to help)?

"Another person."
"They would be saddened."
Am I not aware of a grammar rule here? was "they" a mistype, not "he" nor "she", or even "it"? Is Tom deliberately hiding the genre of the aforementioned person, to clifhang us?
Edit: Or is Annies losing the distinction between singular and plural, as a person that lives in two bodies?

Hmm, another thought, but Smitty maybe? Could use his powers to "luckily" send the birds back to the exact time point they are needed to save Annie. " Another person." " They would be saddened." Am I not aware of a grammar rule here? was "they" a mistype, not "he" nor "she", or even "it"? Is Tom deliberately hiding the genre of the aforementioned person, to clifhang us? Oh I'm pretty sure Tom is just trolling to watch us get the old dart-board of possibilities out again!

It's pretty obvious, that the Annies are talking about an anthropomorphic light bulb, thus the "they". Clearly, a new character is about to be introduced. They'll be a beacon for "How many" jokes, and well loved for their incandescent personality. Another trapped spirit like Hetty and Rey, perhaps? Named Lumin?... Bulby?...
