I didn't notice it being that out of place--maybe because there was also a lot of detail in the architecture of the Court buil... oh my goodness the tic-toc is connected to the Seed Bismuth, isn't it? Well it suddenly started growing a miniature power plant, satellite TV antenna, air conditioning unit and condenser, cell phone microwave antennas and whatnot right after its "death". I'm pretty sure it would grow into an apartment building if Ysengrin hadn't ripped it off the cliff but if Kat made the Tic-Toks... that means she will somehow harness the Seed Bismuth herself? Did Kat create the Court??? Akkkk (my head is exploding... sorry!) minor point: didn't we find out later that Ysengrin planted the TicTok ... maybe to provide a reason for conflict with the Court? A casus belli, as it were?

The first sign of people confusing the mythical ornithonic with the meme app. Please fix it before it's too late! minor point response: that means either Ysengrin knew that doing it would make it grow or that he was under Coyote's orders (which were promptly erased from his memory for authenticity afterwards). This leave us a few possibilities, like: 1) the bird is related to the Seed Bismuth by indirect replication of Court technology; 2) some component used to make it is directly related to the Seed Bismuth ; 3) the bird is directly related to the Seed Bismuth because at some point it will emerge from it (taking a huge leap of assumption that the bird will be taken apart and its "growing" instructions will be imprinted into the Seed Bismuth , with another leap of assumption that the Seed Bismuth is the Tic-Toc egg); 4) anything that had grown from the Seed Bismuth would carry its effects, and that probably include some lab equipment Kat dismantled for spare parts. PS: now that I know that the bird was made by hand, the theory that its egg is the Seed Bismuth (which supports #3) became very unlikely

But given the recent reveals, what if it's specifically the final record of the Annie who died? There's been wildspec that Antimony might die during the course of the comic and the comic could continue from Antimony's POV because Antimony could become a ghost since 2007 and/or that she died in the backstory (specifically, at Good Hope) ever since it became apparent that she could see spirits/ghosts. It is indeed possible that the final disposition of the Kat/Annie plot arc will be separation* but I think not. It'd be easier and more popular to end the comic before that on an uplifting note as Kat and Annie mutually recognize how important they are to each other (which they're now primed to do) and (probably) solve some of the various long-running problems going on around them. That means that while either of them may be dead somehow they're both likely to stick around and I'm not sure you can leave a final record if you're not going into the ether. I assume that previous to freeing Jeanne Antimony might have gotten stuck as a ghost, with nobody to take her into the ether, but now that she belongs to the 'pomps (whatever that means) they either can take her into the ether or make her work in the RotD or something. *Plenty of coming-of-age works conclude with separation of childhood friends as they stop being kids and start going their own ways which leads them to be physically distant from each other, which sometimes leads to emotional distance but always leads to transformation of the relationships. PS: Though I don't think that will happen it would be hilarious if the entire comic was Antimony (or whoever) at whatever age just dictating a magnum opus into the Final Records.

Annie: But, no sooner had we reached the grass than Jones got-- Eyeball creature: GRRARRR Ankou: I'm sorry, Antimony, it says "Memory Full." Now if you'll-- Annie: No, wait, the story's just about to get interesting! We can find another recorder and keep going, can't we? Ankou: ...

This leave us a few possibilities, like: I'm going to ignore everything else in your post and say wow, that makes so much sense and I don't know why it never occurred to me! This whole time, I had assumed Ys buried the TicToc on purpose and then lied about it. But if Coyote told him to bury it and then erased Ys' memory of burying it, then it makes sense that Ys would be angry at "finding" the bird later.

i doubt Kat would ever die unless she chooses to like Coyote. I had to re-read that sentence twice. I seriously asked myself why Kat would die if she liked Coyote.

If goddess Kat is an etheric temporal program(maybe running on various hardware), would current Kat be the setting of Global constants and loading Global functions? If current Kat is already past that and in a While/Do loop, and goddess Kat decides to change a constant's value, would that appear to us to be them changing the past?

Me too. It's a garden-path sentence! Maybe that's an instance in which being a non native speaker actually "helps" by allowing me to brush past the grammar and read it the way it was intended. hah I wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been pointed out

On the other hand, I overthought it (as usual) and literally read it as "I doubt Kat will meet an untimely end unless she gets too fond of Coyote for her own better judgment to kick in". Context!

But given the recent reveals, what if it's specifically the final record of the Annie who died? How would she know what happened after chapter 7, then? Maybe there was some conjecture over whether she was actually dead since she was also alive at the time, so maybe the RoTD just let her stick around until the case was resolved? Bureaucracies.

"Chooses to [do something]" is a common idiom, so that's the syntax my brain defaulted to. But if you're not as familiar with all the idioms, you're able to see the words themselves and pick the interpretation that makes sense in context. A comma after "to" would have clarified things, of course. But what fun would that be? You have a brain like Einstein. You have a brain, like Einstein. By Jove, it does work!

Just some random musings/half-baked thoughts, apropos of nothing (just rereading some chapters today). I'm sure many/all these things have been discussed in their appropriate page threads. Apologies if these are not wild enough. - Cvet heard the Annies discussing everything while in the bunker. It's a good thing she didn't say who her crush is out loud, 'cause Cvet has a big mouth/likes to gossip, and it'd probably become common knowledge. I wonder if she's jokingly told Parley about Annie's comment about Smitty. - Loup/Coyote's long game for some time now has been to get Reynard back in the forest. Reynard has expressed he'll stay with Antimony no matter what. Loup may "like" Annie and want her to live in the forest with him, but may just be yet another ruse to get Rey back. Loup has also asked for Rey's gift back, and I don't think the Court will let Rey live in the Court in his own body; Loup likely knows that. - Since Coyote's powers seem boundless, perhaps once we have Coyote back he could smash all two/three Annie's back together (probably somehow without screwing up timelines, since Loup probably screwed up doing what he did since he doesn't have full control over Coyote's powers). That'll give lots of time for Annie to have flashbacks and confusing memory shenanigans; I see a lot of narrative opportunities there. - Things are likely going to come to a head with the Forest vs. the Court eventually (more than they already have) since the Court keeps messing with the ether and Loup is now an active threat. Coyote was content to observe humans passively(ish) and manipulate when he wanted, but Loup has Ys' hatred in him. I imagine he wanted Annie(s)/Rey to be on the Forest's side when things do come to a head. Removing Annie's promise to the Psychopomps is a part of "keeping" her. And perhaps keeping multiple timelines of Annies around is actually advantageous in this case. /rambling. I love this story.

maybe they are called a thousand eye's b/c they are seeing 1 thousand timelines at once and zimmy can see them looking at a number of them (and her) at once
alt theory that A Kat has been placing things in places through time to help out the Kat we've been watching. as early as placing the docking station nearby Kat uses to put the S13 cpu in so robot can talk and see on page 220

The task Anthony and Surma worked on in Get Lost, which entailed them staring at one point in the Brazilian jungle for hours on end for a few weeks, was part of the mysterious Omega Project. My speculation is that the Omega Project concerns time travel, specifically how time and space are related to each other through the space-time-continuum and that this task was due to an anomaly worth investigating occurring within the allotted time- and space-span.

There's been speculation ever since the final record was introduced that the entire story of Gunnerkrigg Court is Annie's, or possibly Kat's. But given the recent reveals, what if it's specifically the final record of the Annie who died? Didn't know that this theory existed. Is there a version where Coyote or Loup are the narrator? Speaking of which, did the Psychopomps do anything about Coyote and Ysengrin? I suppose not since they're basically still there even if not alive.

The Court was correct about there being a time-space anomaly at that time and place, but the anomaly was actually Surma and Anthony developing their relationship. How far does future Kat's manipulations go?

The occurrence Anthony was intended to investigate wasn't an anomaly at all, I am sure, but created by the Court. Anthony, a meticulous perfectionist with a natural-born interest in laboratories and all that, was the perfect teenage mad scientist they could induce to go on safari to verify that their experiment was successful as planned. Donald, the best friend and sneaky engineer, was just the right Stanley to his Livingstone, but something tells me that if it had been Anthony with the family emergency, and Donnie left to go alone or with Anja, the trip might have been called off.

Just want to get it down here as I had a sudden thought. The Tic Tocs are going to be sent back in time. The Robots say they are older than the court, so we know they are sent back at least as far as that.
The TicTocs go back to the beginning of the court and become the Seed Bismuth?

It occurs to me that Annie is exactly four or five months younger than Kat.
Why? Because I don't think it is a coincidence that Anja and Surma had children of the same age. I can easily see Anja's pregnancy being the final straw that led Surma to desperately insist to Anthony that they have a child too. It would take a couple months for Anja to "show" and to be a constant reminder of what Surma was missing, and a couple more months to get Anthony on board (or alternatively to "lose the pill"). And if Kat had been a tiny baby when Surma and Anthony were away from the Court having Annie, it would better explain why Anja and Donnie didn't do more to make sure Surma and Anthony were OK. James, of course, was just scunnered by the whole indecent idea of Surma having the baby that would kill her (he's not a philosopher, he's a man of action, bless him).
I wonder when all of the adults realised that it was inevitable that Kat and Annie would wind up in the same class. No wonder Anja cried. She probably anticipated that day nearly from the day she learned Surma was pregnant.
