I don't know why everyone jumped to the conclusion that this is Annie's living space. Ok, I know why (Tony is a jerk), but I didn't! This is some kind of top-level chamber and I assume the living quarters are underneath? This is where they have to meet when they sneak out to do so. Not necessarily where Annie lives.

Answer: For the physical exercise of visitors, of course. Walking is healthy. Or possibly it's an intimidating throne room. In glorious, sterile medical white. Isn't that every teenager's dream? "No, Tony, it's just your dream."

I wonder if someone should make a fanart... Mr. Carver pincushion dolls, now selling on Topaco... I want one so badly.

Although, now that I've reread the last two pages, I'm not so sure. Tony did say it was an "inconvenience for everyone" and that there was no space, so this... Might well have been his "solution." This poses the question of, where does Tony live? Might be that his residence doesn't have to be as close to Annie's classes. But then he might not have as much oversight over her! More importantly: WHERE IS RENARD.

This is where he's put his daughter? Tony, I know you like hospitals, but that doesn't mean everyone else does!
This doesn't look like her room, though. Maybe it's the landing or the inside passage or something? A teensy bit on the bare side, but maybe they haven't gotten around to decorating yet? Maybe there's a nice, comfortable, pretty bedroom for Annie that we haven't seen yet? *clinging on to a tiny shred of optimism*

I was really, really hoping this wasn't where Annie was staying, but it was too much to hope this sterility was for anything else.
The creepiness of the hospital reversion only gets worse. All we're missing now are some privacy curtains and a bedpan.

Kat knocked (clanged?) on the door. Ah, you're right. Everybody is right. This is awful. All the coldness of the Court with none of the interesting stuff. Poor Annie is really cut off. I just think of her in her 'Princess Mononoke' garb and feel sad. This is not Annie, and Tony is so dumb.

I have the angries. I have them so bad.
So this is a basement entrance that leads to a corridor, that leads to another horrifying long corridor, which maybe leads to a even more terrifying room. Long dark and light rooms with no shape or form other than pure emptyness.
No. Simply no. This is horrid. I cannot understand why. It doesn't matter what they are doing over there, they shouldn't be a in a ambient so terribly bland for any reason at all besides rescuing robot.
I really do have the angries. God Anthony, get a hold of yourself.

we get what must be a jump forward in time and no one has intervined. No adults have taken action. No one cares. I can only assume there'd be a lot less for Kat to do if the adults took action. Though, again, this is a place where the adults: a) seem to think that living next door to a potentially dangerous forest is a good idea b) also seem to think that tampering with the ether is a good idea c) allow (whether through negligence or worse) a band of robots to steal a lot of scientific equipment and use it on a cruise ship with the students on board and no adults there to supervise things.

If Kat had to knock to get in, who opened for her? Conceivable she just knocked to be courteous, I suppose. I'm confused as to why Annie didn't move... cannot at all conceive of her being shackled in place, but it's almost as unreasonable to imagine her not going toward Kat, instead of just standing there.

I suppose the metal door was a clue; this is close to the underwater rooms. Naw, that's pretty standard looking access door to all sorts of underground spaces.

I was hoping not to see Annie in this place but when I did, I actually teared up a little. Now looking at the discussion there's no way it could be her room. Kat helped her move, Kat would never let Annie stay in such a place for more than a day.

Kat's such a sweetheart.
I really hope that this isn't where Annie is staying, but I think it must be. Surely if they were sneaking there to meet up they would've chosen a more comfortable location? Unless Kat asked the robots where a good place was for them to meet - only robots wouldn't mind that long corridor, it's quite impractical for human use. I also find it very strange that Annie's not moving forward to meet Kat, running like she ran through halls when Kat came home from summer vacation after Annie'd spent the summer alone at the Court. At first I wondered if she might be shackled to the floor, but somehow I suspect that might be a little too dark for everyone's favorite comic. Perhaps an invisible wall that keeps her in place? Kat might be able to deactivate it so they can sneak elsewhere.
Judging by the representation (outline) of the door Kat came through on this page, I don't think that the other splotch of gray is a door. Supervised visit with Tony? Or, maybe, if we're very very lucky, the other splotch was Renard?

It is actually a holodeck. Jokingly, I said that last time, but maybe you're right. It would give Tony a chance to be a parent by remote, while still being free to "attend" to "matters". But, a better idea is that Annie's the one remoting in. That way, Annie and Kat can have a "sneaky" hugs, without openly violating parental rules. Maybe, Annie simply hasn't chosen a program environment yet... Right?... I want to drink frozen margaritas from Anthony Carver's skull. Best first post ever.

if only so he doesn't have to clean up. That would be inconvenient for him. He'd make Annie do it. Maybe he'd eventually order a robot in to help.

I don't think it was rooftop access. Why would Tom say "Downunder?" on 1509? What appears to be a rooftop there is probably a parking (or vacant) lot.

That all depends if wanting to do terrible things to Tony makes for terrible people. I'm willing to excuse it so long as there's set limits on what type of torture is used. Though that doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be lenient.
I still think this is Annie's living quarters, though it does raise some questions. Does she have a bed? Or just a desk to both work and sit at? If this isn't her home, why is she at the far end of it? If this IS her home, why is she at the far end of it? (Why is this stupid room so big?) If this is her home, what's the relevance of the chapter title page? What possible purpose could this room have ever served before its current use?... Whatever that use happens to be. Is this room perhaps made from the dismantled remains of the robot-cruise? If these two plan on leaving the room some time this chapter, will they need to start in the next page or so to make it back to the door before the chapter end symbol?

That room looks awful and I really really hope it isn't Annie's living space.
