Those outfits are awesome. I'll say it. As far as I can tell, Parley is in this position, the vom tag. (Guy on the left.)

Jones totally IS the new Eglamore. Ignoring Parley's awesomeness for a second (which isn't easy), the ability to instantly tell a personality from their swordplay doesn't sound like something that comes "soon" (despite what Jones says), so Jones herself is probably also very skilled at swordfighting.

I actually can't picture Annie with a sword. I don't think it's her thing. Remember, even running isn't her thing. ;D
The last panel is awesome, however the lack of protective gear other than gloves worries me a bit.

I see Annie as more of a bow person myself. She has the personality.

I can picture Annie with a rapier/épée/sabre, fencing in a more italian way.

Yeah, rapier for Annie. It's more elegant.

As highly entertaining as it seems in my mind for annie to wield a bastard sword, a rapier would suit her. Is Tom gonna Involve Annie in some swordplay? seems so for now...
but the real queston is, with whom?

I don't think it's so much of an issue of elegance as much as defensiveness. Personality wise, Annie doesn't get up close and personal very quickly (or at all), so fighting like that probably wouldn't suit her either. I think that would make any weapon that requires two hands unsuitable. (unless it was a halberd maybe...)

I also look at her more in a rapier style...I would love to see her with a Katana...but then again that's what I'm learning, so it might be (probably) biased.
let's see what happens

I think annie would prefer a more defensive weapon in general, if any at all. For now I'm with cenit, let's see what happens.
^_^ I can be patient.

I think they're just there to pick Parley up and we won't see Annie fencing at all.

I disagree with this- it's very easy to see what someone's personality is like if you know even a little bit about swordplay. Obviously, you can tell more the more you know, but if Jones went through the class while she was a student, she can be reasonably expected to be able to do this. I actually see Annie with a backsword- it's a rather thin blade with one edge fully sharpened, and the back sharpened from the tip to about halfway down the blade. (-not- a sabre, as it's straight, but similar.) It has a basket hilt and is usually used with a Targe or buckler, very popular in reniassance europe.

We need someone to draw Annie sword fighting. Where's fuzzysocks?

I most easily see Annie with a dagger or something as an "Oh S@$#!" weapon hidden somewhere on her. She doesn't seem terribly combative in a physical manner, but that's just my view.

We need someone to draw Annie sword fighting. Where's fuzzysocks? Or Riess. Love their artwork. EDIT: But do you know what would be more awesome than artwork depicting Annie fencing? Annie fencing against Kat, who wields a lightsaber.

actually, I don't see Annie with a buckler, or any kind of shield...most likely a two handed sword (two handed swords are not all that heavy, katanas for example); or maybe two short blades.
Why I think this? Annie doesn't struck me as the kind of person that can resist heavy impacts, more like dodging or parrying

Annie strikes me as the type to carefully weigh the pros and cons of the various swordsmanship styles, then choose whichever is the most practical.

I can deffinitely see Annie with paired sai. They're small, exotic, primarily defensive, and require little strength but good coordination to use.

Parley is amazing. So cool!
And I don't know anything about swords, so I'll waive my opinion on this one. Still, Parley! Woo! =D

You know, either she's going to be really bad at first, or really amazing.
Also, I'm very curious as to see if we'll meet Mr. Guy fighting Parley Parley, or if he's just there.
EDIT: Wait... reading an opponent's body language? Hmm... this makes me excited to see what Annie's medium work will require of her.

Stealth edit because I forgot to mirror it before saving. Oh good. I was questioning my sanity already. ;D Jones seems to practice what she preaches.. she show almost no body language at all. Maybe she's hiding something... (maybe(!))

Cenit, you're learning to fight with a katana? I'm jealous!
Also, Riess, beautiful as always. As a Star Wars nerd, I can't help but be impressed!

Dunno about the rest of you, but I can see Annie sucking hard with pretty much every kind of sword imaginable, and at pretty much every martial art known to man. There's just not enough laughs and too much Mary Sue in having her be naturally awesome at almost everything she tries.
