I wonder how long it will be until we see Zimmy? Kat and Paz can either talk to the ship creature or they should start running. What would really help is if Paz could learn to communicate with humans telepathically.
We still need to see the rest of the ship.

Paz has that look of someone running headon into the consequences of becoming key supporting cast to the protagonist in this comic, and seriously rethinking the wisdom of this relationship. Ah, yes. Primary Protagonist Syndrome. When The Story becomes interested in you.

No, Kat. According to the ship, you should be saying, "Oh my ME"

Who wants to bet we will see a reference to Zimmy's Iron Angel Kat again before this chapter is over? It just occurred to me after seeing what the ship had become. Somehow I expect a reference to "It's only as real as you let it be."

"Katerina, if we're going to be a couple, I need you to promise me... no more hostage takings by biomechanical cthulhoid whale-horrors who venerate you as a creator." "Isn't that asking for too much from me, Paz? I have needs too!" Hahahah! Is Cthulhoid a word? Because if it's not, we totally just invented it! Also. I'm pretty sure those purple strands are just thousands upon thousands of fiber-optics: How does one insert spoiler tags?

Holy... That substance in the canal www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1406, that's not water; is it / isn't it / isn't it not. About the roboflesh: I have always had a "head canon" that it wouldn't be strictly alive; not composed of separate cells with their own metabolism, instead just being some sort of organic (but highly perishing resistant) motor that reacts to electricity. Oh...Crap... Go and look at the last three comics, specifically the water...I'm pretty sure all the "water" is actually whatever those purple things are that are connected to the robot. (etheric fiber-optics?) That's freakin' terrifying!

Damn you, ship. You went from creepy/terrifying to creepy/pitiful by just adding "please" to your demand. The poor thing. ... Actually, I got the impression that it's being affably evil. "Please complete this request, and I shall not harm your dearest." Edit: thedoctor, to insert spoiler tags, place the desired content between the code (spoiler)(/spoiler). Of course, replace the curved brackets with square brackets to give it function. Thank you for your time.

Those eyes ... they're uncomfortably close to Boxbot eyes. Not the same segmentation, thank goodness, but still. Just the idea is terrible. Speaking of which, I do hope he didn't manage to stow away onboard. My mind went there and tried to picture him with flesh. Don't, especially if you've just eaten breakfast. Actually, I think that's the ship computers brain, not the eyes. Heh heh heh. I get it. Pardon me if I sound weird, but am I the only one who doesn't find the ship's ethereal form terrifying/impressive enough? Honestly, I was expecting a lot more. Or maybe I'm getting used to seeing Eldritch Abominations in various media? I agree, partially. Unlike the terrifying ether-form of the Librarian or Coyote (when bone-like), to me this one still looks menacing but also sad and twisted. Also, the color scheme isn't as cohesive as usual. Notice that the textboxes changed shape...and that nobody usually calls Kat 'creator' (with one exception). Some interesting details here. It might be in the sense of like calling Kat a goddess, and possibly having created Robots body and the bio-mechanical wing prototype.

I'm pretty sure those purple strands are just thousands upon thousands of fiber-optics: How does one insert spoiler tags? Cthulhoid is in fairly widespread use, but it is a surprisingly handy word given its specificity! As for spoiler tags, there isn't a handy little button to add them, but it's really simple. You just wrap whatever you want hide in a spoiler tag like this: [pbbthbbpptpbpbhht]this is my spoiler [/pbbthbbpptpbpbhht]except replace the word pbbthbbpptpbpbhht there with the word spoiler. (Don't forgot those square brackets and the slash in purple up there; that's how you make an opening and closing tag.) If you've done it right, ends up coming out like this: this is my spoiler One thing to note: For some reason, the spoiler tag doesn't work right in the preview pane; it shows up as though it's not hidden. I don't know why that is, but it works once you create the post. Oh, and also, spoilers are like quotes: they are always on their own lines, so you can't spoiler just a word within a sentence or anything like that. If you try, it will break the sentence flow in a not-very-smooth way. Here's what I mean: Old MacDonald had a farm , EIEIO.

Also notice that the broken chamber with the purple Akira flesh oozing out at the bottom of the page is Kat's experimental bio-chamber from page 1397.

thedoctor; aaroncampbell: I prefer to work within the BBCode panel, to make sure the spoiler is placed right. The normal spoiler tag's coding looks like this: [spoiler]my text[/spoiler] And renders like this: Also, if you need an in-line spoiler, you can do it TVTropes style, like this: We're just changing the color here, obviously, so the code would be something along the lines of [font color="#f1f1f1"]my text[/font] Which renders like this: I love the [ code] tag...

"Please complete this request, and I shall not harm your dearest." I'm going by the robots' usual nature here. The Court robots seem to be naively unaware of the implications their actions and words might have on humans and, with the exception of the seraphs, they always try to be polite. I'm willing to bet the whole thing was orchestrated by the seraphs who convinced the ship that Kat would definitely help it with its romantic endeavour. So its chanting of "you will make me flesh" in the begining might have just been gleeful anticipation that has now turned into a desperate plea. What if it is able to feel pain in its current form? Best not think about it... ...I might be wrong though and Kat and Paz are now in the same place with a gigantic dangerous whale robot, and in Zimmingham no less! Great!

2-The cavalry is on the way: even if Jack's drone fails, Lindsey was keeping an eye on things and there's no sign that she was sucked into the distortion. At the very least she should be able to call for help. But I'm also counting on the drone; so the odds are that Bud, Renard, Eglamore and the Donlans will soon the on the case. In fact, the whole Court should mobilize if a whole year trip's worth of students is under dire threat. I think we can count on them being able to do something. One potential problem if the Court comes to the rescue; here's a hypothetical scenario: Kat manages to reason with the ship (I assume that what just spoke to her is what's left of its consciousness, though physically blended - from its design - not only with Zimmy's world but also that robotic limb in the canister), and gets it to understand that its meddling was wrong. It's about to help her reverse the process (somehow) when the rescue party arrives. The ship panics; if the Court learn about this, their judgment on the ship will likely be harsh - say, its body broken up and its CPU put in storage (the storage area we saw in Chapter Twelve that Annie rescued Robot's CPU from). Kat offers to speak up for the ship, explain that it's sorry about what it did, but the ship fears that that won't be enough - the adults might even dismiss Kat's pleas as a case of Stockholm Syndrome. Instead, it tries to flee - and ready even to fight off the rescue party with whatever it has available, making the situation worse. I do hope that its use of "please" is a sign that it's becoming more reasonable - maybe the shock of discovering that this is what Zimmy's reality-warping turned it into has helped it realize that this wasn't such a good plan after all. If Kat can explain to it that her abilities have been greatly exaggerated by the robot religion (and do so without getting Robot sentenced as a false prophet), things might turn out all right. ...and that's just one potential scenario. Frankly, things have got so damn crazy right now, almost anything can happen. There are many ways the situation could be fixed, and many more ways it could go all to hell. All I'm saying is, I'm pretty sure that Lindsey and the Court are going to intervene: but how they'll go about it, and whether it'll be for better or for worse, I dare not speculate.

I had another possible vision about the outside intervention last evening:
What if the Court finds that all of its other seacraft and aircraft is suddenly in the shop for repairs, that the robots working on them state that they've all developed problems that will take a long time to fix, and refuse to let any of the humans in the Court speed up work on it so that they can launch the expedition on the grounds that it's "robots only" and that the human staff are "non-union" - followed by hurried declarations that they're not doing this because the Seraphs told them to, and that it's entirely a coincidence that this is happening just as the trouble on the cruise ship is taking place....
(This scenario depends, of course, on how much control over the robot community the Seraphs have.)

No, Kat. According to the ship, you should be saying, "Oh my ME" Not grounded. and refuse to let any of the humans in the Court speed up work on it so that they can launch the expedition Expedition to... where? Zimmyngham? And when? And even if it was possible, why would Seraphs suddenly change their usual approach and bother with a backup plan?
